Upon entering Hotel Pigalle, there is a bar to your right but also on the 4th floor. Go to the 4th floor. I would also recommend you take the stairs up the 4 flights to see the awesome yet peculiar art and picture frames all over the walls. The music here is top notch, the seating by the fire place is intimate, and the decor is so well thought-out! The Pigalloma was delicious, light, and sweet. Great to sip on while enjoying the music, ambiance, and good company. The Le Petit Vieux is a more abrasive drink with the raspberries, violet, and blueberry foam but still well-balanced flavors throughout. Definitely a must if you find yourself in Gothenburg!

Super cozy restaurant located at the top of the hotel!…read more They allow reservations and were pretty available for a party of 6 one day in advanced. The booths and tables are huge and lavish with overstuffed couches and chairs which makes the vibe really cozy. The food fare is in line with nicer Swedish fare, they have one vegetation option but this would be difficult for vegans. They have speciality cocktails and a lengthy wine and beer menu available. The halibut was super tasty and fresh with a good portion of vegetables and sauce. The other favorites were the truffle crisps, a crab appetizer and beef tartare. The service was super friendly but at times a bit slow and was difficult to get their attention to pay the bill or order more drinks.

The Elderflower Southside is such a fresh, fruity, and light drink. We were already off to a great start. Both appetizers we got were good but not too memorable; still great for sharing with your table. The main winner here was the Beef Sirloin! It was cooked to a perfect medium and had a nice char crust on the outside. They did an incredible job with preparing it and the side dishes just hit the spot. I loved the fresh tomato & onion salad and the addicting house-made French fries. I just couldn't get enough especially with the béarnaise sauce. The dessert was not your typical bread pudding; it's much lighter and softer. If you dine at Dinner22, definitely get something off their meat menu! You will be happy you did.

This is really a 3.5 stars experience. An interesting…read moreexperience. Visited restaurant by myself for dinner. When I arrived at around 7 pm on Thursday, I pretty much got lucky scoring the last table left without the reservation. Decided to go with a fixed dinner menu, containing appetizer, entree, and dessert. There was also recommended wine selection, so I discussed it with the server, and he suggested that if I don't want to drink dessert wine, I would be better off just getting wine pairing for the first two dishes. Perfect. The first wine was Pinot Noir from New Zealand, and the first dish was deer Carpaccio. Both were excellent in its own right - good wine, tasty dish, the pairing worked together. Second wine poured was California Ghost Pines Chardonnay, which by the glass costs there as a whole bottle back in the USA. Okay, but then this is a mediocre wine, and while the cod was made very well, the pairing really didn't work. The dessert was advertised as chocolate ganache or so, but the actual dish had a large serving of the gelato in a middle, with tiny mounds of chocolate around. The most captive part of the dish was some chewy candy bits on top of the ice cream, in appearance resembling the salmon caviar, but an overall combination with gelato was excellent. Each chocolate mound had a piece of caramel inserted into it, which was really annoying as it was getting stuck to the teeth. So far the food was good, the wines were okay and not, but the worst part was service. Got half a glass of water poured, no pitcher left as on all other tables had to flag someone down to get more water despite sitting across from the bar where someone was constantly at. Nobody really cared if/how I liked the food etc., which, considering the food prices in Sweden was rather annoying. So we have food at 4.5, wines at 3 and service at 3. All in all, you decide if you want to eat there or not.

A couple of years ago, I ordered my favorite pastry, éclair au café, in this chain of…read morerestaurant/bistrot. And I was delighted because of how good it tasted, despite the fact that we were in Sweden. I'm partially living in France so I know how a delicious eclair should taste like. The secret is in the crème pâtissière. I live in Stockholm and I recently moved to the West cost so that's why I could revisit this restaurant. But A LOT has changed since my last visit... Le Pain Français in Gothenburg is a horrible place. This was confirmed more recently when I visited the place a Sunday in February 2016. I was a bit early for the brunch. So I ordered an eclair and a cappuccino and waited in the lounge. The eclair was horrible. This brunch is completely different from what the name of this restaurant entails: Le pain Français. There is absolutely nothing French about this brunch, and the focus isn't on bakery bread from a boulangerie or pâtisserie at all. It's an ordinary breakfast buffet, just like the ones served in most restaurants around Sweden, including on the day-trip ferries to Finland. The only difference is that there was a huge bowl of humus, unnecessary varieties of pasta sallads and some of the worst pastries I've ever had in my whole life. This is coming from a constant hungry foodie. But overall my experience was a disaster. There are two different sittings for the brunch on Sundays: @12:00 and 14:00. I came about 30 minutes earlier to the restaurant and asked some general questions about the buffet. The lady working at the bistro asked me to wait in the lounge. An unfriendly waiter with slick back hair was taking drink orders. I was hesitant to even mention him but since he made my experience a lot worse, I couldn't hold myself. Indeed, only the tasteless coffee in the huge container is included, and tea (bags) in the brunch buffet. The milk to mix the coffee with is cold. Consequently, the coffee tastes terrible. The only pleasant moment for me while eating there was the decor. Yet it seemed a bit kitsch but was way more entertaining to glaze at than the ghastly brunch... My final judgment is that it's better to avoid Le Pain Français at any cost. Besides, Gothenburg has better restaurants to offer!
