If the staff are not busy talking to each other they are talking to friends and family as checkout is right at the shop doors, so you can safely say you get no help with your packing, your not even asked. Range of foods not especially great, although i suppose you could pick up a cheap enough bargain. Seems to stock a lot of the same just in different brands.

They do sell other veggie foods which I always find to be reasonable in price and the range of choice available is great too! Its a brilliant way to stock up my freezer quite cheaply. I dont know about mums going to icelands but the price of quorn by itself is the reason why us veggies go to iceland!

This location is in-between two much larger supermarkets (Sainsbury's and Asda) and is next to B and M in Leigh, on Parsonage Way. Despite being described as as a place at offering "the brands at prices the major supermarkets wouldn't", I actually found many items here to be more expensive compared to one of the other supermarkets nearby or even B and M next store in some cases, they did have some good deals but that seemed harder to find than a bad one. I hated how many of the freezers were the deep chest/box freezer type, which not only meant there'd be more touching points to get an item, it'd be more difficult reaching into a freezer and even seeing what you wanted, and find the frozen range much better presented again at nearby rivals. The Free From section was especially poor, it was mainly vegetarian/vegan items, with little regards for people with allergies such as myself, who actually don't have a choice. They did have some good items and the store did look good and unique, so it isn't bad at all, there's just so many flaws and better places nearby, perhaps it's useful to pop in if you're in a bit of a rush as this is obviously smaller than the nearby rivals and never seems as busy, but it wouldn't be my first choice. 3*

This branch in Harrington Road, Formby is not really different to your standard Spar, offering the usual small selection of bread, cold meats and alcohol that are a bit overpriced. However, this branch does also have a bakery section on which you can purchase hot pastries such as sausage rolls that leave the shop with a lovely home-baked smell if nothing else. It also offers a DVD rental service, but I guess that's rather defunct now as it's cheaper to buy them off Amazon or download them for free.

I am one such person, so it was with great interest and intrigue that I visited Smakus supermarket in Southport. Offering a wide selection of Polish food for the increasingly large Eastern European contingent in the area, Smakus is a bit like going on holiday and going into one of those convenience stores that stocks Coco Pops and PG Tips even though you're in foreign climbs, except with Polish food instead. The shop itself is pretty small but is jam-packed with various oddly-named goods that look somewhat strange yet appetising at the same time. Obviously most of the stuff here you won't recognise at all (or be able to pronounce) but some of the meat they had there did look very delicious and there was a fine range of packet sauces that would be useful to have if you fancied making a stew-based dish with a bit of a difference. If you don't like buying any type of food that looks a bit different, then this place definitely isn't for you but if you fancy being a bit adventurous then Smakus is worth checking out.

Iceland offer a free home delivery service on shopping which totals over £25. They accept all major credit cards, Flexecash cards, Love2Shop vouchers, and cash. They don't accept cheques. They offer cashback. This store is clean, well stocked, and well laid out, with friendly and helpful staff and managers, who are happy to go out of the way to help their customers. It has 5 aisles and 5 tills including a wide wheelchair-access till. As well as trolleys and baskets, it also has a disabled trolley and an infant trolley available. Trolleys require a £1 coin or a token to release them. The store can get very busy at times, especially around certain times of year such as Christmas. This store also has contactless card payment options. Home delivery availability is displayed on a large sign as you walk into the store. It is within a good sized free car park which is floodlit and includes disabled bays and parent-and-child bays, as well as trolley return bays.
