Bamboo Beach Bar & Grill is a gem of a place that you'll find yourself returning to again and again. I think my husband and son ate here for breakfast twice (they open at 10am for breakfast fyi). It's a good and hearty breakfast. They started to know them and their preferences the second time they came. Now that's some top notch service. I came twice for lunch and was extremely happy with the delicious, crusty, French bread fried clam sandwich. However, the star of the show is, hands down, the Lobster Roll. Everything about it is perfection and is worth every penny of the $32 or so odd dollars. They have drinks, a small draft menu and a bunch of cans. This review should be more like 2 1/2 stars but we'll go 3. Our first time here happened today on a day that the Sun peaked out on a weird January month. If you come here for music, hanging on the patio and drinks, you'll be fine. Beyond that if you don't drive then be safe an uber! The food we ordered which was Nachos, Chicken Tacos and their Fried Seafood platter was nothing special. Next time, we will not eat here. It's a nice option to hang in John's Pass to be outside and drink but that's it. First time at this restaurant, as an Afro-American if I could rate a zero I would. Went there with my family for a nice dinner around 9pm on May 31, but became the worst case scenario of discrimination and flat out being ignored. Waited 10 minutes for the older Caucasian female waitress to finally come out and provide menus. At that the time there was only one other couple at a table there. We waited patiently for her to return to take our orders, 5 minutes past, another 10 minutes passes, meanwhile a table next to us fills us with a table of 7-10 people that are all Caucasian. We wait another 5 minutes and she proceeds to take their orders. Meanwhile she has not come back to ask if we want any drinks or to take our order. Another 5-10 minutes passes and she brings drinks and food to the table next to us with the large group. At this time I'm beyond frustrated and stood up and approached her and advised her very politely that we were here first and have not been served or even orders taken or asked if we wanted to order any drinks. She responds that she has to serve this table first. You can imagine that I was livid at this point at her ignoring me and my family and being straight out rude and for waiting over 35 minutes with no service, not even a glass of water. So I proceed to seek out a manager and let them know this is unacceptable. Unfortunately I was advised there was no manager on site, they are only present during daytime hours. Needless to say I will never visit or patronize this restaurant again that's located in Madeira Beach Florida. To note, I'm local living in Tampa Florida. We came here last night. We ordered the nachos and some drinks. Food was super yummy! My drink was too strong but the server gave us some extra mixer and fixed it for us. Staying on the beach for a week so trying to go to all the local spot... I try not to go to John's Pass since it is such a touristy thing...but one time is ok. As far as hole in the wall establishments...this is a great one at John's Pass! It's on the far end and full of locals. Drink selection was not fantastic. But the live music was!!! That's what makes this place great. Problem with this beach town is the music all has to end by 9:30 - 10 pm at the latest. And parking $$$$$$$$! $7/hr. WHAT?!?! Take an Uber/Lyft and you not only enjoy without worrying about drinking and driving, you don't give whoever that money goes to the satisfaction of knowing they've pulled one over on you. 3 stars for the live music here! The menu is simple including burgers, tacos, salads, Unfortunately, they were out of some menu items by 11am on a Monday but it was probably a busy weekend. I was also very surprised to not see wings on the menu. I enjoyed the fish spread served with crispy pita chips and salad. It was a fresh and delicious. Perfect for an afternoon snack. Cocktails were good and customer service was great. The restaurant is technically entirely outdoor but it has shaded areas under a roof. It is a cool casual vibe. Great meeting spot at end of Johns Pass, and Island Hoppers picks up right there. Drinks are normal price, bartenders are busy and efficient, don't waste time. Hard to find seating but if you wait long enough something generally opens up. Nice spot to take a break after shopping at John's Pass. It's at the end of the strip and usually has live music. Gets quite busy but the staff is on top of it and will get you what you need.
