The reason for the review: THIS IS THE BEST CHINESE CUISINE I'VE EVER TASTED. We are a party of 3 and we all agree. I had the seafood delight, my sister had the General Tso, and my niece had Fried Rice. EVERYTHING was very tasty. We opted for carry-out, and the packages came out super hot, so the short trip to our hotel lobby did not affect the temp. We chose to use the dinning area in the hotel to have the feast! My sister's egg roll was so crunchy, I thought she bit into the fortune cookie! Excellent texture!! Her Tso was tasty and served fried like she likes. My niece says she "always orders fried rice" and this quart was "the bomb." As for my Seafood Delight, each mouthful was filled with loads of tastiness. Shrimp, crab, veggies and more! I requested just a little spice, and that's what I got!! I felt like this place "gets me." The service ... attentive and kind!! I traveled from a suburb of Detroit, MI, to visit Shipshewana, and the surrounding cities. We lodged at the Hampton Inn, Middlebury. The Bamboo Garden Chinese establishment is a short distance away. We went into BGC for dinner based on the good reviews here. The prices were much higher than shown on these menus (but I guess that's everywhere these days). So we were deciding what to get and I noticed behind the cashier, at the entrance to the kitchen there was a gray bus tub full of chunks of something. I thought maybe it was ginger (?) but it didn't look that shape. I asked and the cashier pointed to General Tso's Chicken. I said that (pointing to the tub full of unrefrigerated something) she said yes. That is SOOOO gross! We left! read more

Wonderful local Chinese fare. The place appeared clean and all workers were friendly. This family owned place was humming with orders, so I think the locals have also made this a staple. Value was great. I preferred my lo mein to the Kung pao just because I liked the texture and veggies better. Sauce was good on both though. I appreciated that we could order a sauce free dish which he needs because he has Celiac. It's super close to the Pumpkin Vine bike trail and they have tables, so we may stop and dine in next time. read more

Small place across from the Coachmen plant. Got 2 lunch specials with wanton soup & pork fried rice included. Everything was hot & pretty tasty! I really enjoyed the chicken with broccoli. The broccoli was not over cooked & was fresh and perfectly crunchy. read more

For a quick take out to your home or eat in your car while traveling this little Chinese restaurant is OK in my book. More than enough food with the lunch special. Really enjoyed the wonton soup. Adding a little hot sauce and soy sauce to my cashew chicken did the trick. I certainly had enough food for another lunch portion. My husband enjoyed his sesame chicken. We will keep this tiny place on our list as a potential stopping places in the future. read more

This little place has good fresh and generous portions of Oriental food. It is a small restaurant that makes up for the size with its food and friendly service. We were visiting this area from Michigan to Shipshewana and made a side trip to Middlebury and so glad we did and would recommend a stop at Bamboo Garden. read more

When I walked into order the ambiance of the place was wonderful. There were smiling faces of people enjoying their meals and the staff was amazing. If you are kind of iffy about going out to eat or even ordering takeout, then this is the place to go, they have a wide range of foods on their menu that are sure to satisfy anyone even the little ones! I typically order the pineapple chicken, which in my opinion is the best. In most of their dishes, there are fresh vegetables, like pineapple chicken there are pineapple slices (obviously), and fresh broccoli. You can adjust the portion sizes to fit your meal, if you don't want rice they will put more chicken and vice versa. read more

The food is usually served hot and fresh and is quite delicious. This place has very limited seating but have always found a place to sit. Your food will be served on styrofoam plates with plastic forks which I'm ok with. I recommend this restaurant and plan to return soon. read more

Let's just say the prices are wayyyy to high .5.99 for a small tray of rice , and besides paying 9.99 for teriyaki chicken .... it's way toooo much for only 2 trays . Not really good customers service . I rather eat at panda .. read more

Typical old world Chinese food laden with grease and sugar. We had Orange Chicken, General Tsaos Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice as well as Beef Fried Rice. All were tasty. Portions were large. Occasionally the meat had gristle and pieces of bone. read more

I really dislike leaving bad reviews... but it just wasn't good. I got the beef and broccoli and the meat was cut to thick and very tough... it also tasted very mineral-like ( possibly a cut from the inside round?) Its a cheaper cut of beef that tends to be tough. The eggrolls were burnt. The crab rangoon was a little burnt as well but the inside was tasty. read more

We really like Bamboo!! Friendly staff, very good tasting food, and the restaurant is always super clean. You can see the kitchen when you're at the register ordering and paying and I'm always impressed by how immaculate the floor and kitchen are! We love the sweet and sour chicken the most and if you get the combo platter, you get fried rice and an egg roll for under $8 which is an excellent price!! read more

While staying a long weekend in a town close by I saw this take out joint on yelp. Me; loving egg drop soup and willing to travel to the end of the world for a quart I knew I had to go for dinner. This place is off the charts bomb. With just a couple of drawbacks this joint could be lethal to my sodium levels Upon getting there you'll notice it's a small place in a small strip mall and if you aren't actually looking for it you won't see it. That said, the parking lot is a tad bumpy just war for holes. It's family owned and like I said small so expect only two tables if you want to dine in. It's really meant to carry out for sure. Super friendly and well speaking and well understands English. Main reason; the food is made as you order. I mean made from fresh ingredients they have nearby. Even the soups! My egg drop soup was made on the open fire in a wok and I was able to see him add the ingredients to make this appealing soup. And it was HOT. FRESH AND HOT!! For awhile too. I wasn't able to eat it for about 2 hours post ordering and it was as if they just made it. And oh man the taste danced in my tastes buds letting my brain know that indeed this was fresh. I love soy sauce. A lot of soy sauce. And they didn't give me enough. I even asked for 20 packs and she laughed and happily obliged. Price was typical for take out Chinese and the servings were a great size. They serve lunch and dinner so come often. Order the soup and an entree. And then Enjoy!! Being new to the area I did not know where to go to get Chinese food, I found this place on yelp and decided to try it after reading the reviews. It was a great little place, the food was amazing, came out super quick and was a good portion. The staff was very friendly and helpful in helping me decide what to try ! Hands down the best Chinese I have had in the area. Staff is very polite and the service is extremely fast. Always a stop when I am in town.

Our family of five ate there last night. The food was excellent and plentiful. The waitress was sullen. Our appetizer (pu pu tray for four) arrived later than some of the entrees; the sweet and sour sauce arrived long after the egg rolls; the lemon sauce arrived long after the lemon chicken dinner, etc., etc. No one offered drink refills. One of us had to go to the front desk to ask for water and then again for food take home containers. Should be fine for take out. read more

Not good at all. Very bland. Expensive. Everything tastes the same, the sauce of the dish- irregardless if you order chicken, pork or beef.

I am Chinese, coming to visit Amish village. This restaurant out of no where has great quality food. Their rice is a top selection of rice. Not a cheap rice many Chinese restaurant put out there. Beef pepper is awesome. The toufu with veggie non spicy version is my favorite. The toufu was so fresh and tender. Thanks! read more

I agree with the last post...in the past, I would never get take out, only buffets. Then a friend of mine introduced me to this place. Its the only place I go now. I LOVE IT! Food is amazing, prices are very reasonable, and the service is quick and friendly. I have moved about 30 minutes away, but that doesnt stop me from making the drive to get carryout. I highly recommend the beef teriyaki, crab rangoon, and egg drop soup! read more
