Crying tiger, pad see ew, thai fried rice, king noodles
    Jenny Z.

Banana bay for those who live around here has been a staple! Appreciate that they open up late for those who want a late night grub and get bogo drinks. They have so many different dishes, drinks, and desserts. They have definitely upgraded their look with constant decorations based on the holiday and bringing in live bands and musicians. Although the music is REAL loud, I appreciate their genuine attempt from decoration to music and happy hour tapas menu (new) to keep their business running and guests entertained with good deals! Service was also quick and friendly. PARKING Lots of free parking in this plaza, but gets filled up quickly due to the plaza having so many restaurants around. SERVICE Immediately seated, quick to get our orders, and very friendly. Provided sharing bowls and plates! FOOD Loveeee that they added a happy hour drinks menu and happy hour tapas deals for those who don't want a whole portion. I tried their crying tiger and pad kee mao. The crying tiger was decent 2/5 and a bit chewy with hard pieces of bone. It came with a side of fish sauce but I don't think I'd get this again. Pad Kee Mao 3.5/5 had perfectly cooked tender noodles, a good amount of spice and flavor, basil, and some bell peppers. I picked beef for this dish but didn't know it came shredded. It lacked protein and vegetables and was mostly noodles but the flavor was good and since I had the crying tiger, this was a good pairing. OVERALL Banana bay is a great place to chill with friends and family especially on a late night when most restaurants are closed. Think of this place as like a Thai fast food restaurant. Food is decent but with bogo drinks, live music, and a large menu selection, it's great place to hang out.

I believe the last time I was here was appx 11 yrs ago. It felt good to go back and enjoy some delicious food. They do have a large selection on their menu of delicious food. Yesterday we decided to order fried shrimp as an appetizer which was delicious. We also ordered Crispy Hainan chicken & Banana Bay special pad Thai. Everything was delicious just like I remember 11yrs ago. Their Thai ice tea always hits the spot so it's a must try. Service here is ok it's not as attentive as most would like. They are not rude at all just not attentive. Parking can be slightly difficult on a Sunday. I did drive around a few times until finally I found a spot. It's a private lot but there is a lot of other businesses sharing the parking :)

10/10 Crying Tiger -I've been here so many times and I always go with this option. It's never let me down! The meat is consistently tender and perfectly cooked. It doesn't come with rice, so I always add a small side order. I also recommend grabbing an extra side of sauce for dipping. Yum! 10/10 Mango Sweet Sticky Rice - Delicious everytime. Cost - Crying Tiger $18.50, Mango Sweet Sticky Rice $13.75, Cup of Rice $2.50.

One of the few places I would visit at night, for food, drinks and entertainment. I tried the crispy Hainan chicken, it was delicious but i wish they have the traditional garlic ginger sauce. My daughter ordered the regular one and mom ordered the banana bay pad thai, the regular one was good but the pad thai is not for my taste. The service is a bit slow, but totally get it because they're jam packed, our water didn't get filled up until we were about to leave. Ambiance wise, come on Friday night or Saturday night. You'll get some good music for entertainment.

We were seated immediately. Banana bay always has a ton of seating even if they're really busy. We got the continental fried rice and pad Thai. It was odd that the pad Thai wasn't bright orange but it tasted exactly the same (so maybe we're better for it without the food dye). We got two Thai teas (2 for $7). Total came out to be around $50! Always a good time here.

Haven't been here in almost a decade and nothing has changed but their prices of course. It felt run down but nostalgic walking in and sitting down. Stopped by on a Sunday for lunch since we were in the area, was pretty quiet and only 1 other party. They still have their 2 for deals. Same $5 for one thai tea or 2 for $7. Not sure if my palate has changed but the thai tea this time around wasn't good. Pretty water down and way too sweet. Continental Fried Rice -good, just as I remember it. Fried chicken was juicy and not dry at all. Pad Thai -noodles were extremely chewy, chewier than boba. Flavor was there but the texture of noodles made it hard to finish.

Came here with a large group of 12 of us for a friend's birthday on a Saturday night! There was were live singers and they were so talented! Definitely so fun to listen to the live music and sing along. My fiance and I shared the pad see ew with beef & the fried chicken. Food was pretty good. Definitely a place where you come for the entertainment / atmosphere! Got the Thai tea twister, which is an alcoholic version of their Thai tea. Definitely a good place to come if you want to have a good time with a large party!

I love this place. Food is always good, the restaurant is always decorated beautifully, and staff is always nice. The drinks are strong and cheap! And every time i go on the weekends there is a live band and they are great! Overall good chill vibes.

South sea fried rice. The best fried rice I've ever eaten
    Long H.

Banana bay been my go to spot and tradition coming home from thanksgiving in las vegas for the past so many years. We always order south sea fried rice, thats is our must order each time. So we know the taste and quality of the south sea fried rice. This time around, the price has gone up once again, and the quality has gone down drastically. The south sea fried rice use to have bunch of squid, crabs and 2 mussels. Instead of that our south sea fried rice had no crab, only 1 mussel and not that many squid either, flavor was kind of sweeter too. We were disappointed in the drop of quality and price increase too.

    Number # 34. Missing ingredients.

Check your food before you eat it, I ordered a very expensive plate # 34, and apparently they don't sell it with crab as stated in their menu. Pretty much false advertising, and I should send a representative to see this scam place. Ripping people off for food ordered is illegal. When I informed them they stated there's no crab left. Then next time don't allow people to order the food if it's not available. Total scam. Be weary, they don't bother to rectify their mistakes, and the establishment is not that clean, seems they party well enough the floors are very sticky. The restrooms aren't family friendly, this is more like a hole in the wall bar than a restaurant, think about that when bringing your kids here.

3.5 STARS but rounding up. I've been to Banana Bay multiple times over the years and the food has always been consistently decent, especially considering there's not many Thai restaurants in the Rowland Heights/City of Industry area. Parking is usually tough to find, especially if you come during peak lunch and dinner hours. This time however, we decided to have a large party (around 70 people) at Banana Bay. They have a private room that can comfortably seat around 60 people, but Banana Bay offered to section off the back portion of the restaurant for our large group. We ordered a variety of catering trays including Pad Thai, Yellow Curry, Chicken Satay, Pad See Ew, Pad Kee Mao and Calimari all ranging in price from $150 - $200 per tray depending on the item. The food when ready when we arrived and served in large chafing dishes. They also had a large dispenser of self-serve water for guests which was helpful for our big party. We ordered 9 dishes plus a tray of rice and had plenty of food leftover. I appreciated how the food was set up for our party, but did wish there were servers to come by and check in on us occasionally as that was non-existent. Nevertheless, a decent catering option for large groups on short notice (two weeks time).

    March 2026 - Tom Kha Soup w/ Chicken ($15.95)
    Ariel H.

This use to be the spot for Thai food over 20 years ago. I ordered Tom Kha Soup with chicken and it was disgusting to say the least. The soup arrived lukewarm; even after I let the fire burn until it was almost out, the soup never came close to warm. The pieces of chicken in the soup were dried carcasses, seemingly leftover unwanted parts that were not good enough for stir fry, so it's hidden in soup dishes. The restaurant was 70% empty, with a live band. The lack of option for restaurants that open late with no wait in surrounding area is why I gave it a try.

Love this place and have been coming to Banana Bay since college but screw this guy who was the bartender at the bar. I went up to the bar two separate times to order Hennessy Shots for a friend, and was acknowledge last despite waiting at the bar before other patrons came both times. Like I would literally be at the bar, and he would ignore me to service other people then come to me last. Also, he asked for my money before he gave me my drink when I just saw him give others their drink before they were asked to pay. Like I'm literally writing this having come from the bar, pissed because honestly wtf!? Whoever that guy is get a grip and get your shit together, and check yourself with whatever bias you may have.

Ask the Community - Banana Bay Restaurant

    Is there a bar area?

Yes they have a bar where you get alcohol from

Does this location have the same owners at the Temple City location? We've been to the TC location many times and their menu looks different and their portions are definitely smaller than RH location.

Not the same owners. They are brothers and one brother owns one location and the other brother owns the other location. Temple City sucks though as they rush you out. Reserved a table for 14 people at 4:30pm. The waitress comes over after we ordered…

    Shareable size plates?

    Absolutely! Their portions are HUGE!

    How to make reservations?

Depending on how big your party is but you can call +1 (626) 839-5511. If it's just a couple of guests, they normally tell you it's first come first served.

    Do you accept reservations?

Depending on the time of day. Cause during the day when my sister & I go not busy. No need reservations. At night on the weekend depending how busy it get best to call & confirm especially if you have a lot in your group.

    Are there vegan options available?

Definitely, there are dishes that are labeled vegan friendly.

Do they still have a band that performs?

    Yes, on Friday nights!

Is there private dining for a party?

They have an area in the rear of the restaurant, but I wouldn't call it "private". We had private party there recently and it was very awkward because they sat people in the areas we reserved for our private party, and it made for an uncomfortable…

What kind of broth is used in your soups, especially Tom Yum and Tom Kha?

    Hainan chicken rice?

If you are asking if there is Hainan chicken rice, then yes, there is. On a side note, it is one of the best I've had before.

Does Banana Bay do catering for parties?

    Yes they do

Does a live band still play?

    On Friday nights.

Is insider dining opened or it is still outside only?

As of May 5, 2021, they have started dine-in. However, the foods are served in take-out boxes.

    Is there still happy hour?

    Yes all day too

Do they still have a good happy hour on drinks?

Yes! Its ALL DAY and still BOGO!

    Most popular vegan dishes?

You might be able to get pad see ew or any dish without the meat.

What time is the Happy Hour?

Hello, happy hour is everyday and is from 10 pm to close.

    Healthy plates they provide?

It is Thai food with lots of vegetables and some fruits and of course meats. We feel it is a healthier option that some other restaurants. Enjoy

Do you do catering? I need to order for approx 25 people.

Yes!! We do!! Can call us anytime to place catering orders or if you have any questions about pricing!! Thank you for inquiring!

How many people will fit inside the private room?

I've had a party of over 30-40 there before!

I really enjoyed the dinner I had, they offer lots of options, from freshly made buns, dumplings to fresh seafood. The menu is pretty extensive and they also offer cooked dishes from the kitchen. The staff are very helpful and friendly. They made sure we get the best experience as it was our first time dining at this place. We had the big eye fish as they called it and they steamed it at the other empty table because our buns and dumplings were steaming at the same time to save time. They finish the fish at the kitchen with the hot oil and sauce. We also had the pork and shrimp buns, and beef dumplings. They were delicious! You can make your sauce at the station too and they provide good options. We also got the baby oysters appetizer that was soaking in some sort of light soy sauce marinade. Also got the soft shell crab and you get 3 whole crabs for $10! It was so worth it! The whole restaurant looked clean and inviting. The booths were spacious. I would definitely come back here and try other dishes!

The meat was sweet and tender, and the sauce had a nice balance of savory flavor without overpowering the natural seafood taste. You can tell the quality of the seafood is solid. The sea urchin egg custard was super smooth and silky. The uni added a rich, slightly briny depth that paired really well with the delicate steamed egg. Definitely a standout if you like uni. Each dishes had its own highlight. Ambiance is modern and clean, giving a slightly upscale seafood house vibe. Service was decent and the food came out nicely presented. Prices are on the higher side, but for fresh seafood and quality ingredients, it feels reasonable for a special meal. Would come back again to try more of their live seafood options.
