    Lava roll and maki sushi
    Bethly C.

My coworker wanted to grab takeout since this place is just a short walk from work, so I went along. I ordered the fried crab rice at a #4 spice level, which they said was Thai hot, but it really wasn't spicy. Still, the rice was flavorful with a good amount of crab meat. I also had a sushi roll and thought it was great. I'd definitely get the lava roll again. I was only here because of work in the area (I came from Newport News), but I wouldn't make a special trip just for the food unless I happened to be nearby.

Outstanding service & menu (recently upgraded)! Comfy, clean interior. Lana is a courteous & wonderful server. This spot has been a fixture in Gloucester for many years & I truly enjoy my meal every time I visit. I ordered various sashimi tonight & would've given 5 stars if the unagi roll had more unagi ( eel) Minimal eel, which was disappointing. Otherwise, the seafood is fresh & delicious.

I was told not to miss Bangkok Noi while in Gloucester. Very nice atmosphere and I enjoyed my lunch. Had to hunt down someone to get the bill the other server in my area made sure to avoid eye contact and mine just couldn't be found. So as long as you're not on lunch or in a hurry please go and enjoy Ordered: Ginger Chicken

Bangkok Noi Thai is a welcome change to the humdrum of burgers, bar food, and Italian restaurants. Tiffany is an amazing server/bartender. The food is always delicious and fair portions for the price point. I can't state how much I appreciate this little gem. They also do tomahawk steaks every first weekend of the month. Nowhere else in Gloucester can you find that!

One of the best Thai restaurants, I've had the pleasure of eating at. Chicken red curry, and chicken pad Thai, are my go too's.

Before we moved to Williamsburg, we visited the area for vacations, and Thai Tara is alway the first place we go for dinner and the final meal before leaving. Whether you crave the freshest Sushi/Sashimi or you prefer authentic Thai street food, you will find it here. We have traveled to Bangkok many times, and from first hand experience can say without exaggerating that the Chicken Sate or Fresh Rolls are as authentic as you might find at the street markets in BKK. The Tom Kha and Tom Yum soups are a treat. The extensive selection of warm Thai dishes like Pad Thai and Penang Curry are outstanding. We often include a hand roll or a selection of Sashimi from the Sushi bar in our orders. Never has the sushi bar prepared anything less than perfect. And if you want a real treat, finish your meal with a Mango Sticky Rice. Although small in size, it's surely is a dessert of the gods. An extensive bar is also on hand at Thai Tara for your favorite hand mixed cocktail, umbrella drink or beer, including Thailand's own Singha, a refreshing lager. Plan to arrive early because this cozy (but not small) place gets very busy, especially on weekends. Parking can be tight. But even in the busiest evenings, service is always prompt, attentive, and with a Thai smile.

Our table was printed with a scenic painting of a Thai woman paddling a small boat. Nice touch. Surprised that all the servers were non-Asian women, which would have added to the cultural accuracy of the business. Regardless, ours was friendly and efficient and took good care of us. We ordered Tom Kha Soup, Fried Calamari as appetizers, and Drunken Noodles (#3 spice level) with vegetables and Ginger Stir Fry with Shrimp (#2 spice level) as our entrees. The coconut milk based soup which is normally on the sweeter side, also contained lemongrass which sparked a heated response. Different, but not beyond the pale. The Calamari was a mixed bag, with several of the rings tough, rubbery and lacking freshness. The dipping sauce was good. Our mains were both much better. The Drunken was loaded with carrot, green, yellow and red pepper, tomato, celery, spring onion, yellow onion, and sprouts. The sauce was just hot enough to make my nose run and very delicious. The Ginger Stir Fry was loaded with plump shrimp, Thai basil, onion and some other colorful veggies. My sister loved it. Aside from the slip with the squid, this was a satisfying tasty Thai dinner, with good service in a pleasant ambient room. Four Phuket Stars.

We decided on eating family style and ordered appetizers to start off with to share. While the crab rangoon and crispy spring rolls were both hot and fresh, the edamame wasn't. Sadly, we had to send it back. So, our server gladly took it off our bill. The Chicken Pad Thai had an unexpected sweet flavor and it wasn't what we would have preferred, especially in comparison to other Thai cuisine that we've often enjoyed in the past. But, we liked the shrimp fried rice that was very flavorful. We're glad to have stopped in to Lanna Thai. They had several pick up orders while we were dining. There were a couple other tables that seemed to be locals. Would welcome seeing more Yelp reviews on this restaurant to get suggestions on favorite dishes that I should try next time.

One-two of our dishes was actually messed up on protein- chicken instead of beef and the combination fried rice had only 1 shrimp. It was just a few pieces scattered throughout the dish. The noodles themselves were bland and dry. I recooked the food and seasoned it and it was better! If they'd add more sauce and flavor to the dishes, it could be more enjoyable. Or even offer a side of sauce to add extra if needed, that would be good.
