I ordered Pad Thai and she ordered Massaman and we shared crab Rangoon and a veggie spring roll as an appetizer. ** PRE REVIEW RANT: Curry is a spice in itself so for curry dishes, ordering a 3 out of 5 may have yielded more spice as it is naturally "spicy". BUT because everyone (including the waitress) seemed to cringe at me going higher for my Pad Thai I ordered a 3 and it wasn't nearly enough spice for me, even my mom with a low spice tolerance said it wasn't spicy :(** Anywhoo, the food was delicious! The Massaman was very flavorful and the rice sucked up the flavor to perfection. The sauce wasn't too runny (YUSSSS) and the flavor of the dish as a whole was on point. The Pad Thai was also made very well. The dish didn't have a fish taste at all (which I have grown to love) and I will say I like Pad Thai saucier but the dish did have JUST ENOUGH sauce so I cant complain. Overall, I give this restaurant 4 & 1/2 stars because its slightly pricey for the noodle dishes and the vegetarian spring roll didn't have any flavor. Also, the thick Crab Rangoon were slightly overcooked and chewy BUT the main dishes did make up for it for me! This is my favorite place for curry. Had out of town friends and family agree that this is some of the best tasting Massaman out there. You can mix and match the curry with a dish. My go to is the Pad Ped #4 because of the veggies, but love their Massaman Second favorite is the green curry #5. Third favorite is their peanut curry with Pad See Ew. You can't go wrong with any of their curry dishes. I eat here regularly and get takeout quite a bit. Insider tip: order extra sauce to heat up with leftovers. read more

We have been to Bangkok taste multiple times and I finally wanted to stop and write a review after our delicious meal today. We always get chicken pad Thai at a medium or mild spice level depending on our mood. They're also generous with the portion size and it's very filling. The noodles are cooked to perfection and the sauce is absolutely delicious and authentic. They add in slices of white onion and top with green onion pieces, served with a lemon wedge to bring out the best of the flavors. It's also always been ready just about when they say it will be for pickup which I love - it's a great dinner to grab on my way home from work & it has quickly become our favorite in the area! read more

One of the best Thai places in west mi. Pad Ped, Curry Pad Thai and Curry Fried Rice are our faves. The masaman is great too. People complaining about the prices are crazy. $8-$10 for a meal is a great price for food of this quality. I like spice and medium typically is perfect (enough to make my nose run by the end of my meal), my wife can't handle and much and orders mild and it's perfect for her. I recently took a trip back to the area and I had to stop at my favorite area restaurant. That's right... not just my favorite Thai restaurant - but my favorite area restaurant. I've decided that Bangkok Taste takes prize for the Grand Rapids area. At least, at press time. One sure sign of a respectable restaurant is consistency. You can come here a million times and order the same thing and it will always be the way you remember it. There are no variations in quality or size - you get what you get and it's always held to the same standard and delivered just as awesome as it was the first time you tried it. When I was in here last it seemed a little bit busier than I remember. That's a good thing though and I'm glad to see their business expanding. Getting a table for 6 was still no problem and we were seated immediately. Another sign of their business increase: more than the mother and daughter are working now... it seems to have become more of a family operation and there are multiple daughters waitressing and running around. Of course, they all provide the same exceptional service you should be expecting from my review and this update. I've also got to mention that we were treated to a special surprise where the mother came out of the kitchen (because I'm assuming one of her daughters told her we were there) and talked with us for several minutes. She remembered all of us in the original group and seemed very happy to see us as we were happy to talk with her as well. I can't tell you how awesome it is to be remembered as a frequent customer and be warmly welcomed back - it's like coming home or something. She even whipped up a special dish (forgive me if I forget the name... but maybe it was drunken noodles) for us to share with the table, free of charge, and it was absolutely TO DIE FOR. I mentioned the gang gai and gang keaw warn in my original review but now I'm recommending this with all my heart behind it. I had ordered the gang keaw warn on this free dish she gave us actually made me wish I had ordered the drunken noodles instead. Just another reminder to myself that I should branch out more and not stick to the old familiar stuff... it usually pays off. So, without saying too much more you really need to go here. Awesome service, totally awesome food, and basically one of the best places to eat in the Grand Rapids area. I can't say enough about Bangkok Taste and how great it is. I love Thai food. And I finally had the chance to check this place out. What Adam W. writes is the truth, although I only slightly disagree on the service aspect. When you arrive, the service is FAST. Everything came out super hot, fresh off the pan, etc. and it was decently busy in there. But no one came and offered us boxes or our check, even after we hadn't touched our food for a good 10-15 minutes and they were continually walking by and smiling at us. Oh well. The food and the service early on more than made up for it. My roommate and I got: -shrimp rolls -- Perfectly crisp outside, delicious inside! The plum sauce was really good too. -crab ragoons -- Just the right amount of filling, good sweet and sour sauce, very satisfying. -Pad Pak -- My roommate got this and he got it medium spicy...which was too hot for me and almost too much for him, hahaha. But the taste before the burn was great! -Peanut Curry Noodle -- YUMMY! I got mine mild and it was the right combination of sweet and spicy. Very, very satisfying! I even liked the vegetables in the sauce, which is a big deal cuz I generally hate veggies. I can't wait to go back! My sister and I came here as an attempt to find better tasting Asian restaurants in Western Michigan. We ordered food for carryout, and got Thai iced tea, fried tofu, Green curry, a red curry, and drunken noodles. The medium spicy is really spicy. I think we should have just settled for mild. The red curry seemed more like a stir-fry dish, and not what I was expecting. I thought the drunken noodle tasted good, but disappointed in the presentation. I liked the green curry best out of all the things we ordered. The staff seemed very courteous and prompt. The prices were a little higher than what I would consider average. read more

A wise person once told me sometimes the best ethnic restaurants are in out-of-the-way shopping centers. Bangkok Taste was quite the find, thanks to our Michigan friends who drive up from Kalamazoo once a month to dine here. Gigantic portions of steaming hot thai food -- the curry was phenomenal! I also dominated the end of my wife's dish (pad thai) and salivated over our dining partner's curries and fried rice dishes. There was one other table during our one-hour visit here -- but the carry out patronage was constant and clearly the winner. When in Grand Rapids, seek out Bangkok Taste. This place is the best hidden gem in Grand Rapids hands down. I have been coming here for several years and have never been disappointed. If you like it really spicy like me order your dish Thai hot, level 4 or 5 will get you sweating I promise. Its family run with the daughter's serving and either the dad or son cooking( the son makes its alot hotter so be careful). The Bangkok Fried rice is a favorite of mine, big chunks of broccoli, carrots, and peas make this one just divine. The crispy tofu with cucumber sauce is a great appetizer. Went with the family for dinner as we were visiting our daughter at GVSU. Nice and quite, and the food was awesome, had a Thai Basil with white rice and a fried egg as topper, one of the wait staff was eating it. said it wasn't a menu item. but the owner said she had enought for me to try, and it was awesome. Wife and daughters had seseme chicken, pork fried rice and drunken noodles, all was well as we enjoyed a great dinner and time together. Best Thai joint in the area. Heard about it from a friend a year ago, and now I'm hooked! I always order either Pad Seeyu or Pad Thai with tofu (plus extra tofu!!) I love spicy foods and their flavors stays true to the authenticity of Thai foods. Service is fast and serving sizes are plentiful. I don't recommend the Thai tea though. Way too sweet. But if you have room, finish off with some Coconut ice cream (topped with crushed peanuts). Delish! read more

As a person who has tried a variety of Asian foods, I have to say that this restaurant is pretty good (especially considering its location in West Michigan). The food ranges from dishes that are excellent for Thai newcomers (such as pad thai, and thai curry noodle) to more exotic dishes for the more adventurous eater (like the tom yum pho). They are made fresh and are consistently tasty. I have been there often and haven't once had a dish that didn't turn out right or didn't taste good. A fair amount of the dishes are under 10 dollars and don't skimp on taste, or volume. The only problem that I have run across is their ranges of what "spicy" means. At times I feel like when I ask for "medium" they just take a handful of peppers and throw it in, and other times its like they just add a pinch. To savor the flavor, I fully recommend getting mild. The atmosphere can be a little lacking, and sometimes the service is a little slow, but for the most part you will get seated and served quickly. The tricky part is getting their attention if you need additional service or want your check. Overall, this is a wonderful place that can easily worm its way into your daily meals. You know its not good when the noodles are still the color they were before cooking. Tofu is just disgusting. Its looks like its deep fried then turned to a sponge. There were 4 small shrimp in one order. Tom Gai is watered down broth with raw tomatoes. What? And isn't it supposed to have a little coconut flavor? This place just sucks, plain and simple. Got to go here again recently and it was just as good as I remember! I don't get to go very often as I no longer live in MI, but if you are near by this is hands down the best Thai food. The menu here is better than most other Thai places. The curry selection is large and offers a bunch of good items. I like the options for all vegetation if preferred. I can't eat the pad Thai (nut allergy) but my wife says it is absolutely the best ever! The portion sizes are also good especially for the price. I've tried this place a few times, the food is ok, but the service and attention to detail are seriously lacking. Today we went there for an early dinner, it was just us and another table. I was dining with two others that have gluten allergies, we mention it when we ordered and were told we could have anything except the items with brown sauce. So, the food comes out fairly quickly, only to have the waitress come out after we had already started eating to let us know the chicken had gluten, apparently they dust their chicken breast in flour so it doesn't stick.... Unfortunately one of the friends I was with that was allergic to gluten had already ate a fair amount. They didn't really seem to care, acting like it was no big deal, offering to make something else when they've essentially poisoned one of their customers due to their ignorance and apathy to their needs. So, after that I'm sitting there, trying to eat my meal as fast as possible since I'm the only one able to eat. Unfortunately my drink is sitting empty while our waitress is at another table texting, making it rather difficult to eat my spicy entree. Overall it wasn't a great experience, I seriously doubt I'll return. read more
