Banks did an excellent job creating and installing a wrought iron fence for my yard. I had an existing fence on two sides of my yard and Banks matched the existing fence perfectly including some very detailed artistic elements. The fence looks fantastic and is very secure. I had some problems with DCRA getting a permit for this project during the pandemic. Banks was so flexible! He stored the fence for me for nearly 5 months while I waited for the permit. Banks B. Banks is the rarest of craftsmen: precise, on schedule, fairly priced, and the most professional out of 50+ welders we contacted in pre-project DMV area research. From the first phone conversation we knew immediately he was the best choice. I signed up on Yelp just SO I can express how thoroughly impressed I am with this welder, Banks B. Banks. I live in an 1895 DC row-house that still has the original cast iron stairs. Last week, one of the treads rusted and became dislodged from the rest of the stairwell rendering the stairwell unusable (an emergency). Unfortunately, I've been so disappointed with the lack of professionalism and integrity of contractors in general that I now dread having to contact one for ANYTHING. Prior to meeting with Mr. Banks I had several interviews with "iron and metal" contractors who arrived to claim the stairs could not be repaired, then quickly focused their attention (sometimes rudely) on selling me a full set of stairs ranging from $3,500 to $20,000. So when Banks arrived he was indeed a breath of fresh air. Not only was he confident about being able to repair the stair, he also came across as honest, was polite, patiently answered my questions and was reasonably priced. He arrived on time for both the job and the estimate, did what I interpreted as an excellent job, and cleaned up afterwards. I couldn't ask for better. As a landlord, I solicited proposals from several welders in the metropolitan DC, VA and MD area to modify 7 exterior iron gates & to replace their locks with quick release locks (mandatory for rental properties in DC).
