10/10 diving experience!!! I was lucky enough to be able to dive a few times with Devin in the shallow Waikiki coral reefs, and each dive was spectacular. Devin was incredibly knowledgable, attentive, and thoughtful about each of the divers experience and comfort levels. He knew the reefs really well and was able to uncover hidden gems like sea turtles, reef sharks, and octopi on each of our amazing dives. Devin went out of his way to ensure we got some quality diving in on this trip to Oahu. Experienced divers, new to the sport call this outgoing and personable young man for your experience. Im sure he has more than 15k dives under his belt and really knows how to help people feel at ease underwater. I'm a very experienced diver that went out with him for a couple dives and he knew everywhere to go on the dive site to see all the critters and action tons of turtles, eels, conch, octos, mermaids. A young girls mask literally broke and fell off her face, he quickly fixed the mask 45 feet down. Anyone can have a bad dive or a gear malfunction and his quick recognition of the problem saved her dive and kept the group together. WOW! What a cool experience... My husband and I decided to do this after seeing a Groupon. Devin honored the Groupon price and we were ready to go. Personally, I'm terrified of open waters, but once you get in the water, it's such a peaceful experience. Scuba Drew was an excellent guide and instructor. Our first dive, we had to come up early because one of the people we were diving with had a minor panic attack. Our second dive totally made up for it. We saw massive sea turtles and a big male whitetip shark, among other things. Unfortunately we didn't get to see an octopus, but obviously that's out of their control. Overall, we loved it. We're even thinking about getting PADI certified now! read more

I called Banzai divers a couple weeks before my fiancé, her family and my trip to the North Shore of Oahu and we setup a time with Devon that worked for us. When the day came we met up with him and had an awesome time doing a shore dive at Sharks Cove. I am already certified but my fiancé and her dad enjoyed it so much they decided to get scuba certified. We called Devon and he set us up with another day and time to meet for our certification. We met up and did the education work and a small dive to cover skills. Then we met up one more time on a Sunday afternoon and did two more open water dives. After that they took their final test and they were certified. Overall, Devon and Banzai were awesome! He took us to the best spots, pointed out all the things like Octopus, Eels, Sharks, Colorful reefs and TONS of turtles and answered all our questions. He even took pictures for us and sent them for no extra charge. We will be going back and doing it again as soon as we get back to Oahu. read more

An amazing morning at Shark's Cove. We met up at 0700 - received a safety brief, set up our gear and walked into the water. We were the only ones on the reef, in the lava tubes for the whole dive. We spent nearly 40 minutes exploring and swimming thru lava tubes, finding octopus and seeing all the fish. We were lucky w/ only 4 in our group. My wife and I and another man w/ his son. Dive Master/Instructor (Adam) was professional, laid back and set the perfect tone/vibe for the dive. Did the Lava Tubes off Shark's Cove, took a break, then Cathedrals (behind the Fire Station). The Cathedrals dive, we were lucky enough to be under a pod of nearly 150-200 Spinner dolphin... it was amazing! Fantastic Dving experience, Thank you Devin and Adam. read more

My experience with Banzai was AMAZING! Devin was our Dive Instructor and he made the whole thing so fun, relaxed, and professional! I'm diving certified but haven't gone diving over a year so I figured doing the discovery/refresher course would be the best. There were 3 others in the group who had little experience in diving. Devin was very helpful through the whole process. He has a very chill but professional vibe that makes you very at ease. He took care of everything - helping you set up the gear and explaining what's going on so that all you really need to do is jump in the water and follow his instructions! We did 2 dives that were both really cool. We saw sharks, sea turtles, eels, various fishes, and Devin even caught an octopus for us to observe closer (he let it free afterwards!). We all felt safe and had fun while down under. I think the best part was that Devin took pictures, and then sent them to us - for FREE! i got a super awesome pic with a sea turtle among other cool pics. Thanks Devin for capturing that moment! My only quip i have was that as a certified diver looking for a refresher, I felt that I didn't get enough of a refresh on the technical stuff. Devin is so helpful that he sets up all your gear but it probably would have been good for me to practice how to set it up again. Although I can't complain much -- cause i basically didn't have to lift a finger until the diving actually begun! I'd definitely recommend Banzai Divers Hawaii to anyone. I been on about 5 dives and this was one of my top experiences. If I go back to Honolulu i'd definitely dive with Devin again! I bought the groupon for the discovery dive via groupon so it was a great deal. Note you can get the same deal from them directly - just contact them! Note for those who are easily seasick, take some medication before. Both me and the other girl did not deal well while on the boat and both tossed our cookies. For the longest time (basically since I was kid), I've wanted to get my scuba diving certification. Since having moved to Hawaii, I made it one of my bucket list priorities because what better place to get certified than in Hawaii. So after doing quite a bit of research and wanting to be PADI certified, I found Banzai Divers Hawaii. I was a little hesitant at first going about getting the certification alone but when I called, Devin was super friendly and easy going, which made the whole process so much easier and welcoming. Devin was so awesome during the 3-days course for the open water certification. He was very patient, professional and made my very first diving experience amazing. Not only did he make me feel comfortable and confident in diving, but he introduced me to a whole new way of exploring and seeing the incredible beauty of the underwater world. Words can't describe the exhilaration that I felt when I was diving under water, swimming through lava tubes with sharks, octopus, eels, sea turtles, and wide array of fish. Due to the overall excellent experience that I had, I knew right away that I want to take my diving to another level and eventually get the advanced open water certification. When I do so, I will definitely request for Devin to be my instructor. If you are reading this review, I highly recommend going diving with Devin. Extremely disappointed with the professionalism!! Booked a dive, got an email saying to meet him at a wrong site. I had reserved my day for diving to find out the email was an error. I got an apology but nothing else. On top of that I paid for a Bonzai Divers shirt and it was never provided or mailed to me as promised !! After several attempts it was clear I wasn't going to get it. Still waiting on my refund. Never again!! I visit the Islands several times a year, I will definitely take my business elsewhere. We dove the wreck of the YO-257 and Turtle Cove (or Canyon, something like that) and had 2 really good dives with Devin. He gave us a good dive briefing before entering the water, was able to point out some of the local wildlife and generally took great care of us. He also took a few really good pictures of us during the dive. We went on a larger boat with several other individual groups, but Devin made things comfortable. Devin gave us a incredible first diving experience and the highlight of romantic Hawaii getaway, pretty easy even for my wife, as a first-time swimmer. Much better value overall than other diving places and Groupons, considering the service, that photos/videos are free/included, and that its focused on seeing wildlife instead of just teaching how to swim in the shallows. We saw a friendly baby shark and a giant sea turtle with a smiley face on its back when we went on intro dive from the boat on South Shore, which, though an additional $35 each (vs. diving from the North Shore when weather permits) provided us with a 2nd air tank so can scuba dive twice (or more in our case) as long, and giving us a Hawaii boating experience to boot. Great deal, we went with the Groupon rate, securing that ahead of time while still being able to pay on the spot. This even counts towards diving certification if complete 2 more days of 2 dives each within a 1 year period, starting when we request him to submit this first experience towards that. Even though my wife has no swimming experience, this went pretty well for her, and was even easier than when I started to teach her how to swim or than what snorkeling would be - which is very surprising - as you don't have fins, float/sink control, and don't have to worry about holding your breath or staying at/above the ocean surface. Tip: If diving from boat leaving the South Shore pier, go to the far left of the pier and walk towards end of the dock near the restrooms (which you should avoid, in general) in order to find the boat, after paying to park (in the left or right lot) at the box in center across the street from the pier, via the CallToPark app or cash/credit. read more

Devin is great! I am an instructor but like diving with local shops when on vacation. Banzai was a recommendation from a friend and a great one at that. Devin had all paperwork done prior to dive, which is great. We dove dives I had done before but it was great because we maxed our bottom time and we were still conservative. Showed me a lot of critters. Viz was 100 foot and not current. Had a miscommunication on second day but Devin handled it well. He made sure I was taken care off and took responsibility! We had a great time with Banzai Divers!! We did the Mahi wreck dive as well as a reef dive called Turtles. Scuba Drew was our dive tour guide and he was knowledgeable, professional, and catered to everyone on the boat. We met in the morning around 7:15 am at the boat ramp and we left in a timely manner. The staff on the boat were really nice, I liked Haley as well. She was very helpful and sweet! The Mahi shipwreck was incredible, it was a short dive diving with air though, so I definitely recommend diving nitrox! The reef dive was incredible as well, we saw turtles, eels, a white tip shark, and an abundance of fish. We got back before noon which was nice so we still had the rest of the day to enjoy. Had a fantastic dive with Devin and Zach. My husband and I had limited days to dive as we were in town for my sister's wedding and had a lot of other things to take care of. The day before and the morning of, Devin was in touch with us to let us know that diving conditions were not great due to the large swell and our planned beach entry. He offered us another time during the day, a re-schedule to a different day, or we could cancel if needed and they would of course refund us. We asked if it was still possible to go out, even if visibility wasn't great and he said of course. Him and Zach took us out and although we definitely encountered some strong swell, it was one of the most memorable and relaxing dives we've been on. Partly because we saw some really cool things that were unique to the island/dive, and partly because Devin and Zach made us feel very safe and prepared throughout the trip. Devin, our dive instructor was amazing from start to finish. After almost not making our 2 open water dives, he was able to accommodate and wait for my friend and I to get to pupukea beach. Not only was he patient, he was extremely professional and well educated. Would definitely come back and dive with him again. We bought two snorkel trips on Groupon for lava tube snorkel. This is completely not what we got. We were put on a boat with some other company. While this captain was nice, we were only taken to snorkel off the coast of Waikiki where we saw two turtles. And bonzai told us we would have a $25 each boat charge since waves were too rough to go from shore. Very disappointing trip and treatment from bonzai. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about our sharks cove lava tube snorkeling adventure. Prior to our outing, we had been at Sharks Cove every day and were prepared to be disappointed and assumed we would be snorkeling the same areas we had on our own. We were so wrong! Devin took us out just about 100 yards off shore. Could we do this ourselves? Yes. But what we can't do is recognize the species in the water, or have the courage to get near them. He was able to find a turtle, an octopus and a shark in under an hour! He has an incredible talent to hold his breath and dive down and coax the animals out so we were able to experience them. You can see by my attached pictures! We had 2 14 year olds with us who aren't the best swimmers. Aside from being tired, they had no issues being out that far even with the waters being a little rough. This was an unforgettable experience. I am always happy to support local businesses. Devin also had his young daughter Lilly out with us as our "safety diver". What a cutie! My only regret is that I didn't look into his offerings further to see that he does uncertified dives. That would have been an incredible experience for us, something we can't do at home. Next time! read more

Devin is great! I went on a couple of dives with him to different locations and they were all fun. He helped me with my gear, making sure it was working properly. We actually took it apart and moved some hoses here and there. He was eager to teach me not to be scared of my gear. Most dive instructors I've met over the years are quick to say "Don't touch that" as if it's Pandora's box. It's not, it's just gear. Tear it down, put it back together, have someone look at it, and go make a dive. We went to the tubes at Shark's Cove and then to a wreck near Honolulu. Both were great locations and great dives for different reasons (that is another story). Devin knew exactly were to go, while other groups were just floundering around, we went to see stuff. Turtles, sharks, eels, octopi, and scenic underwater views were all found with ease. It would be easy to confuse Devin's shop (his van) for something less substantial than a brick building, please don't. His overhead is low, which makes his prices low. His shop is mobile so he will go to dive an area near you. He is always available and if you text him, he will text you back. I can't say enough good things about this little mobile dive shop. I will be diving with him as often as I can in the future. read more

My husband and I chose Banzai Divers for our first scuba diving experience after we found an amazing deal on Groupon. This turned out to be our favorite activity during our first trip to Hawaii. Devin was awesome! My wife and I wanted to get some diving in while we were in Oahu and contacted him sort of last minute. He was able to get us set up with some dives that we were interested in. Unfortunately, there was a tropical storm north of the islands that caused our first choice to be not ideal for diving. Devin was able to reschedule us the day before and get us on a two tank boat dive on the west shore. We had a great time and he even followed up with some shots he got with his GoPro on our dives (which was great since our battery died). My boyfriend and I had our first dive ever today with Devin and had such a great time! It was just the two of us with devin today and it made me feel much more comfortable being my first time. He went over everything with us in the boat and then we jumped in the water and he made sure we knew how to use all the gear and knew all of the underwater sign language. Our first dive was only 20-25 feet down and he was very patient while we descended and it took forever for my ears to acclimate. But they finally did and we made it to the ocean bottom to swim with huge sea turtles and we saw a large eel and a white tip reef shark! Our second dive was a little deeper and we could hear whale calls while down there and Devin made sure to point out all the fish that were only found in hawaii. We got some good videos and Devin also took a couple pictures with his gopro that he sent to us after the dive! It was a blast and I suggest a dive with banzai while visiting Oahu! Three friends wanted to dive on a six group vacation. Banzai was super accommodating to our schedules. One friend was advanced while the other two (including me) only had certifications for a year.
