Duck confit bao
Tammy E.

So good! The most unique thing I've had since arriving in NZ! The guy whose brainchild this was is super sweet-as! He came over for a chat and to check on all of our orders - we ordered dinner and then takeaways for meals the next day. There is literally something for everyone at this food truck. From the pickiest carnivores to vegetarians this small but wide ranging menu is fantastic. We literally ordered about half of the entire menu and loved every single thing. The karma cola was also a nice touch - it paired well with the salad and bao meal. Young, old, foreign, and locals alike could be seen eating here at all hours of the day - now if that's not the ideal endorsement to get you to try them out I don't know what would be! They also happen to sell high quality NZ saffron here - picked some up for my friend back home to make paella! A meal and a souvenir in one place - I call that a win!

This place is really good. We got to this city late in the afternoon, so we were rushing to find a good place for dinner. Using yelp, we found this food truck had good reviews. We ended up trying the vietnamese loaded fries the cheeky, the tofuie, and the quinoa citrus salad. Wow! The loaded fries and the boas had amazing flavor. The beef was tender. Even the tofu was great. I didnt care for the salad. But then again, I dont really like salads. I would definitely come back and would recommend this food truck to anyone visiting the area.

Breakfast and takeaway for lunch.

Bao Now! Has the beat food for the dollar I've had anywhere. Innovative thinking about the menu that provides a simply delicious meal. BYOB and it's a great place to relax in Te Anau's town center.

This isn't my first bao but not bad for a food truck version of the previous ones I've had before. I ordered the Cheeky Bao for lunch with fries on the side. The combination of the meat and sauce was great although I would've enjoyed the fried chicken one more.

This place deserves 6 stars - holy smokes - AMAZING. I got the soft shell crab, my pal got the beef cheeks - the fries were . As a Southern Californian who worked back of the house and loves food trucks - Habit didn't disappoint. Best thing I've had in my week here - Thanks guys - looking forward to coming back on my next visit!

Easily the best food in Te Anau (and probably the best food on my entire trip to the South Island) - stop reading and go here immediately. The baos are absolutely delicious and generously portioned with succulent meats, veggies, and sauces. The loaded fries Vietnamese style are also excellent, as the standard fries are decent but nothing to rave about. Highly recommend the Ocean, Bambi, and Feathered baos. Shout out to Gwen, who was very helpful and provided solid recommendations. Cash only with an ATM nearby at the adjacent supermarket.

Really tasty food truck! I really enjoyed the bao and I haven't had something like it before. I got the venison one and it had some good flavor combos with this beet jelly and other things. The fries were also great.

Very good flavors and fresh tasting bao. Only issue was pretty hard to eat, some would say overstuffed. Would have been happy to pay a few extra dollars to split the fillings between two baos rather then one overstuffed. Definitely give it a try if you are looking for quick bite!

Still we ordered a few appetizers, like Chicken Satay, Prawn toast, Malaysian cabbage and we added Duck to that meal because it was suggested that the Chicken will come spicier. Anyway, the Chicken Satay is yummy with three skewers. However, the peanut sauce that came with this didn't taste like there's any peanut in the sauce as it was very pale in color. We, also, felt there's way too much sesame seeds and too little shrimp for the prawn toast with the Sriracha mayo.

Especially considering this is in the downtown area, I can see it getting packed for dinner. I loved the ambiance and decor inside the restaurant. I got the laksa after reading many reviews recommending this dish. It was on the spicy side, and it was good, but I wouldn't say it was outstanding. Next time I would try something else. I was intrigued by the Portuguese custard tarts, as that wasn't expected from a Malaysian restaurant, but I was already planning on getting dessert later, so I skipped them this time.
