Service is fast and efficient, and the barista was understanding with our broken Spanish thanks also to our handy translator. With a wall of teas to choose from, I ordered a Chai tea with milk that turned out to be the best Chai tea I've had during our travel through Spain. I'm not a coffee drinker, but my companion was and said the coffee was strong, simple and hot, and there were many options for infusions of sorts. Food service consists of pastries that were as lovely to look at as they were to eat. We had a custard pastry that was squishy and so delicious and the butter croissant. It was outstanding. Now that I've had the pleasure to add this little pit stop for all to find on Yelp, go find it for yourself. It's worth it.

It's a tiny Churrería, with only a couple of tables and the bar. It's not a tourist place, it doesn't have a shiny sign above the door, and all the customers are people from the neighborhood. Everybody knows each other so the place has a warm and personal feeling. The chocolate is thick and delicious as Spanish chocolate should be, and the churros are the best I've tried in Salamanca so far. The only problem is that the opening hours are short. You may not know that Churros are for breakfast in Spain, but it's true, so it opens really early in the morning (not sure about the time), but closes at 11.30am!! Get up early and start your day here like a real Spanish person!

The tea water tasted like chlorine and my friends churros were cold and barely tasted like a churro at all, they were bland and oily and not covered in sugar, she had to use the sugar packet I was given and dump it all over to make it taste good. The second time going there however, I ordered the same tea and the tea was a lot better. My friend didn't have the churros again. I give this place 3 stars though because it has a nice and warm vibe. I will probably go back and maybe try other stuff on the menu.

The bartender was a nice gentleman who gave us Pintxos with our drinks and the most wonderful tinto I had had so far in Spain. It was from Carlos Serres from Rioja a 2010 Crianza. I didn't know about wine in Spain so I first thought that Crianza was a grape but it isn't. Rioja is an AVA but Crianza is a level of quality. Wines from Rioja labeled 'Crianza' will have a similar taste profile (mostly Tempranillo and often blended with Grenache). Crianza is not the bottom but it is next. The top two are Reserva and Gran Reserva. You can easliy find Reservas in a store but most of the new release Gran Reservas are around 10 years old+ when you first see them and cellar up to 30 years. You have to hunt for these. So in a bar if you order a tinto Rioja Crianza, you are going to get a decent glass of wine from place to place. The wine was lovely. The tapas were awesome and plentiful. We went back in the late afternoon but the kitchen was closed, the tapas were gone and they were pouring a different wine. Timing is everything, come early :-)
