They have these combos ('meriendas') where you can order pancakes, croissants, or cakes with a coffee/tea for 4-6 euros. Unfortunately, despite the modern/hipster look of the place and the pleasant terrace outside, their pastries were no different from what you can find in any of the typical Spanish bars you see in an average neighborhood... First off, the neighborhood in which La Casa del Pez is located is on fire. It's very, very caliente. There are so many cool looking bars and small businesses on and around Jesus del Valle, it'll make your head spin. So, it's very popular and the energy is hip and fun. The street level of this bar is on the smallish side and if you are there on Thurs-Sat night, it's going to be busy. No way around it. But, it's definitely worth the short wait, as you'll see, because they have so many great gins to choose from and they will serve it to you in a variety of complimentary ways, depending on the brand of gin. I tried the Blue Ribbon with pepper and London Gin Pink with grapefruit and both were wonderful- very refreshing and tasty. And, there are so many more varieties to choose from and it's so fun trying something new. Although it's a small space (they do have more space downstairs, but it's probably not very practical during the hotter months) it is minimalistic and hip. The old bar with various antique momentums, the gray walls and simple, modern light fixtures are a very nice combination. Oh, and the bartenders are fantastic: attentive, friendly and on their game. Ask any one of them for guidance and they'll happily oblige.
