I sat outside on the terrace and had a very good seafood salad and a plate of spaghetti in a mildly-hot butter sauce. The salad was full of frutti di mare, and the spaghetti was cooked perfectly al dente. Service was fast and friendly, and the prices were very reasonable; E13,80 all told, including bread and water. It seems to be a bit of a hangout in the local neighborhood, which is full of arty, academic types, and the crowd was well mannered, even if, from time to time, their smoke got in my eyes.

We were immediately greeted and proceeded with our orders: 2 cappuccini e 2 cornetti. You have to know that I LOVE chocolate, especially Nutella, especially in Italy. What Italian doesn't love Nutella after all? So of course, my cornetto was a Nutella filled one, just like I specified to the kind girl working there. So I grab my cornetto alla "Nutella" or so I thought..and went to the counter to wait for my hot cappuccino. I emphasize on the hot since it was a FREEZING day. So that's what you'd expect lol, a HOT cappuccino. Welp...let's just say the only hot part in it was my coffee sitting in the bottom of the cup. As soon as I took a sip, the milk was cold!! I kindly mentioned to the barista the situation. He got a little bothered and with my same cup grabbed it and took it to the steamer (yes, same cup that I was just sipping on with the same drink in it) and passed it right back to me. It sure was warm this time, however, not creamy like you'd expect a delicious cappuccino to be...anyways, enough about that! So now, after being a little upset about the cappuccino, I decide to take a bite of my delicious cornetto with Nutella. One bite ::: mmm so soft and spongy ::: two bites ::: hey, where's the Nutella? ::: ::: gets to the chocolate part ::: and it was not Nutella. It was chocolate cream! And then you wonder why I have trust issues? I was deceived by ordering a Nutella cornetto and getting a chocolate cream instead. It's not the same! ::: face palm ::: Yep.. I've just overpaid my cappuccino and cornetto to only dislike both, equally. Bottom line: not a fan of this bar, it's not the best in the world. Just seems a bit overrated for me. You can skip this one and try the other 1,000 bars in Milano.

And it was! Delicious pistachio (my go to) and then another flavor that I think was chestnuts? Am not sure? Anyway the bloke just really topped me up and it was a lot for the money and very gratefully and eagerly scarfed down! Plus they have great wifi - I will def return when next back in Milan!

I learned from Café Martesana that if there is more than one person at a table who orders a coffee after a meal, the assumption is that -everyone- at that table desires one. This happened at least two or three times in the course of a week in Milan. Fortunately, it's straightforward enough to send excess away, as long as you speak Italian. This serves as a suitable destination right along the river to snag a quick and affordable lunch. It's simple, reasonably priced, and relatively efficient as far as sit-down places go.
