This is beyond a tourist trap, this place is outright predatory. Whether the food here is good or not is totally irrelevant. There are no menus and no prices to be found. What looks like an innocent cafe just outside the Vatican charges outrageous prices for simple service. €8 for a cup of coffee. €25 for a simple Spaghetti and Meatball. Rude took on a new meaning. Shouting at customers is not good business. I just wanted to use their WiFi and ordered a small gelato and a small water. Water: €4. Gelato: €12. 16 euro to use WiFi. To be fair. The gelato was a large plate with two scoops of decent gelato, whipped cream, mint leaf, and pirouette with a drizzle of some sweet substance. It was lovely with 2 spoons. Not my idea of small. Also I had to ask 3 times for the password. Exasperated the waiter took my phone and put it in! Crazy. Stay away! SCAM! TRUFFA! I specifically asked for 2 small gelatos (which should be about $4). The waiter, with a terrible, sly attitude, brings out an entire plate of gelato. Total price? 39 Euro. I wish I would've consulted Yelp before eating here! I'd like to echo what all of the other reviews say; this place is a total ripoff. A very personable barker got us to sit down for lunch, gave us a menu with no prices, and we were rushed into pointing to a meal. Later we learned that there is an actual menu with prices...the real menu has spaghetti for $10 euro, while the picture menu has spaghetti and meatballs for $25 euro, etc. Our total bill for a mediocre lunch was 100 euro. Neighboring restaurants offered the same meal (with prices/menus upfront) for less than half the price. Lesson learned! read more

Where do I start.... 2 dry chicken breasts, a week old potatoes and heated up pasta was 30 euros. The total bill came to 165 euros which was a joke. We ordered one omelette, two coffees, and a smoothie and our bill was 52 Euro. The table wasn't cleaned even though we were almost alone at the restaurant. If I could, I would give this place zero stars. As everyone mentions in previous posts, it's a complete rip off. We had just finished the tour of the Vatican museum, and decided to grab some LUNCH. We saw a bunch of people sitting outside, and thought, hey, maybe this place is onto something. We should have walked away when the menu presented to us had 6 options and no prices. But nope, our stomachs got the best of us. We only groaned even more right after placing or order, because the people behind us were charged €50 for a few beers. We were now stuck. The food was a disgrace. No flavor for the lasagna (£13), and the salmon (£25) was the same, plus bones. The prices were what I would have considered dinner prices, and add in a few Cokes at €6 a pop, we were VERY unhappy customers. I have to give it to the server--he was very good at sucking people in. White wine tasted watered down and vinegary. The pasta was either super bland, or super salty. There's were no truffles in the mushroom pasta. The carbonara was basically egg yolk sauce pasta. This restaurant is what vacation nightmares are made of. The kindly employees will smile and converse politely because they know they are about to make a killing off of some foreign saps. Beware the menu without prices because they will charge whatever they want for items you order. It was a terrific learning experience for my friends and I that Italy works on a different set of rules than the United States. This restaurant is not the norm and should not be used to prejudge all of Rome and its restaurants but it is more of a warning that there is the possibility to be taken for a ride by scum bags. Our first choice was the restaurant nearby with a 4 stars but they were close. The guy that looks like a joker was the one who would greet you and I asked him how much because there was nothing written on the the walls for a buffet nor a menu for prices but we thought it's very casual atmosphere so I wouldn't be that much.. He would say you order per plate and then they will weigh and tell you the price. I ordered and then the lady didn't give me a price and just said it will just be served on your table. First of all the food doesn't taste good!!! The salmon I ordered is very dry and probably was heated a lot of times already and their pasta is the worst of all I've tasted in Italy for a whopping €25/person. Our total bill came out to €150 for 4 persons... Advise to this restaurant you are in a very good location treat your customers right and serve good food you will probably get customers over and over again... Don't eat here. First warning we should've had was that there weren't any prices on the menu. I ordered spaghetti and it had some crunchy noodles around the edges which made me think they had reheated it. Everything about this place was average and what was even more shocking was the price! That sub par plate of spaghetti was 20€ and at best should've only been 6€. SO OVERPRICED. We ended up paying 100€ for our meal for two during lunch time when even some of the most incredible places we've dined at here in the city have not come anywhere near costing that much.
