    Clarified Cocktail

I went in with no expectations. Anything I was thinking they exceeded. I had seen Gochujang on Culinary Class wars, but had no idea what it was. Well guess what Bar Nohm has it in a noodle with shrimp and I will be back. Also had the Lil Uzi Gurt. They clarified strawberry yogurt. Mind blown. Service was great. Good was great. I will go back.

Cool vibes, friendly staff, great food at reasonable prices in a laid-back atmosphere -my kind of place. Recommend sitting in the bar area for the best energy. Take a minute to admire the artwork on the menu and walls, the clever cocktail names, the stylish serving dishes. Go with a group that likes to share so you can try more of the menu. The pickled Asian pear salad, grilled mackerel, and spicy cucumber salad with chewy wood ear mushrooms were my faves. The Lil Uzi Gurt cocktail was awesome and they have a solid selection of N/A options, too.

one of the most unique bars that I've tired in SLC! It celebrates Korean drinking culture with craft cocktails and small bites (Anju). It's akin to upscale Japanese izakayas or Spanish tapas! Service is always spectacular! I've always been super lucky to get seated at a booth instead of the bars or communal tables. A reservation is a MUST since the restaurant is pretty small. Their skewers are great but this place is definitely for small bites or snacks while drinking, expect to spend a ton of money if you're trying to make a dinner out of it!

Dropped in on a Friday night around 9pm and the place was still bumping! Come for cozy vibes and even better food. Love a good izakaya spot more than anything. Would highly HIGHLY recommend the sesame noodles - had a great mala flavor and was the group favorite of the night. I also enjoyed the Asian pear salad and the beef ssam (the beef basically melted in my mouth!). Service was super friendly and fast as well.

What stood out for me are the details--cover of menu; wall and ceiling decor; dimmed setting and a simple food menu. My friends and I ordered skewers; noodles and karaage. We finished everything and it was good! Didn't try any of their cocktails, but will def come back to try their other food items and drink. Great service. Cute spot.

Bar Nohm has excellent yakitori skewers in a stylish atmosphere with bar seating. Food was great.

Ok, this place is amazing! The food is great, the service is also great, and the ambiance is very chill.

Bar Nohm has seriously leveled up since my visit a year and a half ago. The revamp is real. From the vibe to the menus (which are SO cute, btw), everything feels more thoughtful and elevated. Food-wise, everything I tried was solid. The Chicken Karaage is perfectly crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The Beef Ssam was served/plated nicely and really tasty, though I do wish the portion was a bit bigger. I highly recommend the Sesame Noodles -- so flavorful and satisfying. The Fried Rice was a little on the oily side, but still really tasty. The cocktails are fun, strong (in a good way), and look amazing. Also, the service was great. The servers were super attentive and friendly without being overbearing. I've already been back thrice since the update and definitely plan on returning again. Bar Nohm is back in my regular rotation

Came here for a late night snack on my own. This is def a hip spot and a little bit louder. So if you're here to catch up with friends, opt to sit outside if the weather is nice. Or adjust your expectations to have to talk louder and lean in a little closer. The beef skewers were the best. They cooked it medium rare - just perfect and good amount of seasoning. Chicken was solid. Mushrooms were a little over salted in my opinion. All the skewers had a nice Smokey flavor from the grill. Service was friendly.

Fantastic cocktail bar, probably the best in SLC (along with their sister location Water Witch). The team here is super friendly. Great food and drinks

This was recommended to me by a local and it definitely is easy to miss. Sort of on the edge of the city, in an area with not much around it. This Bar features a small but incredibly flavorful menu. I started with the sesame noodles and the flavor is just perfect. The noodles have a hint of sweet to it but complimented by the meat and the Sichuan peppers and it all comes together in such a great way. The baby octopus was the standout though. However if you are a picky eater or sensitive to texture I would not recommend. But the flavor of the sauce and the paddies is just out of this world. It just overwhelms you in the best way. The bar tenders were super friendly and right there to help out. It's fairly small but a cool atmosphere that would also make it a great spot for a night cap or meet up with friends.

We really enjoyed our experience at Bar Nohm! The only reason for 4 stars is because each time we've been seated, the host tells us when the next party is supposed to arrive, which feels a bit like we're being rushed out as soon as we arrive. The food has been excellent. We've gotten beef skewers, karaage, and the sesame noodles, and all of the flavors have been spot on. Of note, the potato salad has a bit of an acquired taste - very dill and sardine-forward. The ambiance of the dining space is clean and well-curated. We'll be back!

Very cool izakaya type spot. Also very accommodating with our reservation. Our screening went longer than we expected, and we called to notify them that we were running late. They said it was no problem and had a table waiting for us. Very interesting cocktail list, along with wines, sake, Sochi and amaros. The food is family style, and I loved having the glasses, chopsticks, small plates and napkins at the table. Our server was very helpful, and we ordered a dozen delicious, cold and briny oysters. Then we had the chicken kaarage which is one of my favorites, and they did a wonderful job, serving with grilled lemon and a great spicy sauce. We actually liked it so much we ordered another one! We also got the spicy cucumber salad, made very interesting with wood ear mushrooms and squid. We got the pork wrapped enoki mushroom skewers, and they were exceptional. And then we got the Gochugang noodles with shrimp & vegetables. A fun, satisfying experience.

But nonetheless I had a great time, and I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly atmosphere. Plus 6$ mules and .50 cent pool is hard to beat. There's a couple of pool tables. The bathrooms are a little "shocking." I was looking for the women's restroom and when the lights automatically turned on, I saw lots of 70s models posing nude. "Don't worry honey, it's okay to look, and also throw money at the half-naked women! I promise you won't get in trouble!" Uh-huh. ;) Alright, I digress. Awkwardness aside, Prohibition is a really great place to enjoy a classy dinner, where the meat is served on a place AND on stage, and the cheesecake comes with the price of admission! Speaking of admission, as my wife and I were guests, being shepherded along by our friend, I cannot recall exactly what the "cover charge" was (not much, if I remember correctly...less than $20 for two?), and if reservations are *required*, I cannot say for certain, but I would say they are *recommended* at the very least, because our showtime was packed. Anyway, once paid, you are escorted through a secret bookcase door (SLC residents sure do love their speakeasies, don't they?), and into the dining hall and saloon, where you're soon to have your socks knocked off...well, someone's clothes are coming off, anyway! We were given a table that I dismissively thought was tucked away pretty far in the back and out of the way, but it ended up being one of the best seats in the house, as the table where the performers gathered, prepped, and returned to was just adjacent to us, so we were about as up close and personal as you can get, without getting yourselves arrested. Each of the dancers brought their own style, flair, and wardrobe to their performances, which were spirited and energetic, and a touch racy, without devolving into outright debauchery. It may be an (18+? 21+?) venue, but alcohol restrictions aside, I wouldn't hesitate to take older, more mature teens to a show with similar content. We ordered a smattering of smaller dishes, as we weren't particularly hungry, but the Mishima Wagyu tacos were fantastic (as you would expect), as was the Fedora Fin (Za'atar-crusted ahi tuna), and all of our cocktails. As the show is timed event with multiple performances per night, both food and bev are fired out of the kitchen/bar faster than the bullets from a Tommy Gun, but with far better accuracy. The whole operation here was honestly very impressive, from start to finish. Coming from a progressive city like Portland, it's always struck me a little odd that places that, by reputation, strike you as more conservative end up having some of the best, most wild entertainment venues, that you only wish you had back home. Prohibition is one of these places that I would rather see in my downtown, instead of the litany of seedy strip joints pushing for maximum titilation, but with only a fraction of the class and sophistication. Prohibition is good, clean fun, masquerading as something illicit, which is the heart of what makes it work so well.

In full transparency it has been 2-3 years since my first and last visit to Water Witch. I noticed this in my drafts and thought I should complete my review. That said, I think I hyped this place up in my head too much before my visit because of the James Beard nod. So when it didn't quite hit the mark for me, I was disappointed. It's quite an intimate bar. By that I mean small space inside. The main bar has seating of course and there are a few seating areas directly behind the barstool area. There is a small walkway that separates the bar and the seating area. So the seating area is looking straight forward at the bartenders and the backs of people on barstools. I felt like the people behind me were staring into my soul lol, but that's a me problem ha. It's a modern design and beautifully decorated. I had two drinks. One from the menu and one that I told the bartender what I liked and disliked. He then made a drink based upon my taste. In my opinion it tasted similar to the one from the menu, which was disappointing because I was hoping for something different. There was one bartender that evening and one bar back, so even with the few people at the bar (I'd say 6-7 including me and a guest) and the 4 people seated behind us. It took some time to get his attention and order a drink. Which is part of the reason I only had two drinks. I would probably give this place another try since it's been some time since I've been there. As I always like to say. Stop in and judge for yourself.
