Finally getting to try some local paella in Palma!
This ubiquitous Spanish dish can often be seen as fairly generic in a majority of tourist spots. Luckily, the island of Mallorca is a little more laid back especially outside of the resorts. Here at Bar Venecia, my friends took me to try some of the best paella in town, and for a fantastic price as well!
For only 7€, you get a three course meal comprised of wine/water, olives to start, bread, a massive plate of paella, and your choice of dessert. This deal was clear when we saw this place packed with patrons on a Sunday afternoon.
The paella here was probably the best I had during my entire Spain trip. The saffron rice was fragrant and moist. There was hearty chunks of pork, couples with a large prawn that made the center piece of the plate. The restaurant prepares its paella in one gigantic wok, so everyone is essentially eating from the same, delicious recipe.
My dessert flan was just as satisfying as the meal itself. We left full and ready to take on the beach with some beers. If you're looking for a great paella and a fantastic deal in Palma, this place needs to be on your list. read more
