Three business trips, and now three lamb vindaloo runs. Xenuk was a Google find, as we all agreed a…read morecurry sounded good, and again, weren't let down. My lamb was tasty, with good spicy gravy and chunks of potato (as I prefer). It could have been a little spicier, but the lamb was tender enough. I would say this was a little better than average. The naan was very good, brushed with the right amount of salted ghee, with crispy, bubbly edges, and came out white hot. Really nice. Service was very good, fast and courteous. Dishes brought table side were heated to bubbling with a trolley mounted propane burner, which was a nice touch. And this was the second appearance this week of a sort of heated table top food warmer, a metal plate that sits on the table and keeps the food warmer. Maybe this is common overseas? I've never seen it. As long as you're not dumb enough to touch it and burn yourself, it's a really great idea. Combined with what seems to be universally warmed plates in Ireland and the UK, are Europeans really unhappy when they always get rapidly cooling food in the US? Of other note is the ultramodern style - tinted glass, neon lighting. It almost gives off a dance club vibe? But it's cool. Especially the large tropical fish tank, which is at least entertaining. It's too bad this is outside the town center. It didn't seem to be suffering for patrons, but we'd definitely have stood a better chance of noticing it. One of the women at the client said she drove past it on her daily commute...but had never been inside.

Balaka is an excellent Bangladeshi and Indian retaurant and take away situated in Horsell. Due to…read moretheir success they have recently taken over larger premises in the village. We tend to get a take away and this is either delivered free (orders over £10) or collected (with 10% off if the order is over £15). The food is always freshly cooked and portions are generous. You'll find all the curry house favourites on the menu together with some more unusual dishes. As a starter the prawn puree comes highly recommended. A flat, light bread, stuffed with lightly spiced prawns and garnished with salad and lemon. The flavour is superb and, if it were available as a main course I'd order it every time! The Biriani dishes are very good and, in particular the vegetable curry that accompanies is rich and flavoursome, unlike many curry houses. Several of the special dishes are not available for takeaway meaning that when you're hooked on this place, and you surely will be, you will just have to visit the restaurant. The monkfish mazza, in particular, is to die for! The restaurant also caters for functions (in house and externally) and has been featured and recommended in various newspapers and TV shows. I'll second all of those recommendations.

There are a lot of curry restaurants in and around Woking, so I am loath to dub this one the best,…read morebut it's certainly in the running. Its main USP is that the menu consists of a list of sauces, and then, having selected one of those, you can choose whatever meat, fish, or vegetable you would like, cooked in your specified style. As well as the standard chicken, lamb, and prawn, you can also opt for monkfish, lamb chops, and a few other interesting options. The restaurant also boasts some award-winning dishes which are proudly displayed in a separate list. The food is simply delicious, and although it isn't cheap, the portions are very generous. The restaurant is smartly furnished, if rather small, and the staff are scrupulously polite. We always find the service to be very quick and attentive.
