First time here and I know I've found my go to barber. Brought my boy and myself for cuts and were more than satisfied with both our cuts. There is one single chair and the shop is filled with German decor. He works by appointment only which is great. The cut was $20. Not bad at all. After passing through a smaller black entry, you enter the Barber Lounge on the right side, makes it feel tucked away & special. Immediately, the commanding atmosphere envelops you, feels like you're walking into an old world virtuoso's crafting or art studio. There's one barber, Worm, & his inspirations are punctuated, everywhere. Vintage collectables - a working retro cola dispenser, vintage record cases, nostalgic items in polycarbonate display cubes, even sculptures, prints + fine art - all vocalizing stories of travel, adventure & belonging. The entire space feels warm & hued in sepia tone. Was not expecting this. Worm greeted me, offered me a drink & directed me to the rustic patina'd wood benches in the lounge area before Hendrix-like old school rock floated out of a retro 70-ish boombox, completing the atmosphere. Other clients seemed to all know each other as friends. They vibed about sports & cars. Was caught off guard, out of my element & intimidated-af. Just am no good at doing the whole shooting the shit or kicking the can thing that bros do - since I'm into neither. Still, Worm & the rest of the guys there remained friendly, even though I was being stand offish. They gave me my space while I waited & continued their convos. When I was up, I showed Worm print outs of the textured angle fringe undercut, disconnected at the crown that I wanted. Been to a few other barbers on the eastside & I could always sense that my particularity made them uncomfortable. No problem here. Worm doesn't hesitate one bit. And he really gets to know you & what you're about. Fascinating guy, fascinating interests, goals, conversation. Has a passion for VW vans. Let's me know that some of the vintage items are for sale. Tells me of his travels & adventures. I tell him of the bungalow I've been restoring. In the end, he got my textured angle fringe undercut, disconnected at the crown, exactly as ordered. It's rare to encounter spaces/people like this out of designated art or design spaces, for me anyways. Only meant to get a haircut. I really admire what this master virtuoso has created here & I'll most def be coming back to get some finds, was eyeing one of the record players, along w/future cuts. It was my first visit to this spot, but I'm definitely coming back for more. The ambiance is so chill and there's a vintage feel to it, like a man's man cave for sure. My boy Worm keeps it simple right down to the quote "We cut hair here, that's what we do". They sure do! He hooked it up with a fresh cut and had me ready for the weekend looking and feeling real clean. Looking and feeling like a million bucks would be an understatement!
