My father, my brother and two of my sons all have their hair cut here. Third, the relationships we have with our own barbers there is one between friends than of clients... Got to admit, I never thought I would give a five star rating to a barbershop! I was wrong... I love getting my head shaved at The Barbers Chair! The barbers know men's cuts, the are no nonsense fast, and it's cash only!!! Deer heads on the walk will grab your attention right up to the point that they cover your neck with warm foam and press a straight razor against your Jugular... There are few manly pleasures that rival a hot cream straight razor shave. I can only assume that when the most interesting man in the World gets a shave, he does it at The Barber's Chair!!! Last time there I got a hot shave next to Ron Burgundy and Ron Swanson. ;) No women allowed, seriously... When the older lady owned the shop it was an honest business. My son and grandson were there on August 19. I met my son and grandson there to go and get dinner. They were getting haircuts for a special event. My son left before me and this woman comes out saying my son did not pay. This was a TOTAL LIE. I went ahead and paid the 25 dollars. Then I found out that my son paid 100. For his cut beard trim and for my grandson. Along with a generous tip. My husband was a stable client of Bob and another stylist. Needless to say my 3 men will not be stepping foot in this crooked shop. I will tell all my friends in New Lenox. And I do have a huge family and friends. read more

I've been going here for years. This is the only place I'll get my hair cut; it's consistent every time. They have a unique atmosphere, it's kind of a retro / hunting / nature theme. They recently added a coffee pot with free coffee. This place can get pretty crowded on the weekends and usually has a 2-4 people waiting for the doors to open. I thought I'd give this place a shot after reading some of the positive reviews on here and unfortunately what I ended up with has made me resolve not to return. The first thing I noticed right away was the generally annoyed demeanor of the barber. After pointing myself out as a new customer, he didn't seem interested to get my name or even shake my hand. I tend not to trust someone wielding sharp objects around my head if they cant be bothered with introductions. It seems real barbershop talk, no cuts, no chalk is dust in the wind. Now onto the cut: I asked for a pretty standard cut (tapered sides and back with a longer top) and indicated how I wanted to be able to comb and style it. From start to finish, the whole thing felt extremely rushed. I would much rather sit there a bit longer while the person takes their time to make sure everything is cut evenly. After a rushed taper job, the top of my head was almost not even touched. I asked for it to be cut in such a way that it could be combed in a specific manner and I never once even saw a comb or a brush. I was also never asked if I wanted any product to be used. I trusted he knew what he was doing so kept quiet. I later read that a shave is included with each cut and realized that I was never given or offered this. If this was intended to mean something else, its deceptive advertising. It clearly states in this description that "all haircuts include a beard trim and a hot lather neck shave". False. At first glance, it seemed decent when finished. I paid the man and as a reasonable guy I did leave a generous tip (20%+) despite what I've mentioned. Of course, I was then taken back by the total lack of a simple "thank you" or any appreciation. Most businesses would express interest for their customers to return. "Hope to see you soon." Nope, not this one. I genuinely don't think this place cares whether or not they get new or repeat customers. Extremely unprofessional and rude. I knew walking out the door that I wouldn't be going back, but it wasnt until I saw the results at home that the anger began. The blending on the sides was horrible. There were tufts of long hair jutting out, visible lines, and it looked like hammered you-know-what from the side. The top was not cut evenly, one side was left longer than the other, the edging was non-existent, and I was beyond livid. The result was unacceptable. Stevie Wonder could have done a better job. I had to use my own clippers to fix this mess as I wasn't about to go back there. Businesses have good days and bad days. Was this a good day? Hopefully not. This place is good for buzz cuts only.....nothing else. If you have a style with hair longer than a buzz, forget it. My high schooler son's hair was hacked so bad that all of his friends were making fun of him and. I was surprised at how bad, choppy, and completely uneven it was. We had to go someplace else and have them fix it the best they could and that stylist was chuckling at the butcher job of a haircut he received. So again, great for simple buzz cuts ONLY. read more
