Has a great view of the river and old town Bern with walking path that gets you back into the city. It's in a loop and we took the cogwheel back at the end of the path! Service was quick and friendly and other food my companions ordered were solid 3 stars but giving it a total score of 4 for service and ambience, and particularly of the food I got. The wurst I got was the best part of the meal, it was prepared in lightly seasoned broth and tasted fresh and smooth almost like a pate in a solid form---which compelled me to give this place 4 stars!

Also had a Hefeweizen bc I had to. Also great. The food. So they have a small tapas menu but was looking for more, so looked at the dinner menu. Unfortunately the dinners didn't fit in my company allowed price range (Switzerland is way too expensive), so tapas it was! Honestly it was perfect. Cheese w chutney, salami, falafel and some local meatballs. All delicious and filling. Great experience. Just lower your cost Switzerland and I'd try more! I'll return next time I'm in Basel.

I arrived at Matt & Elly during the pre-dinner time when they have a very limited menu. I did not want a burger so I stuck with the beer and the wifi for an hour or two. Delicious craft beers, a friendly bartender who spoke perfect English, a comfortable space to sit inside (heated area outside) and a speedy wifi. This was a superior spot. We sat inside for dinner on our first visit, and came back again for lunch outside the next day. The atmosphere at the Rathaus is warm and typically Swiss, and its views of the Luzern waterfront and Kapellbrücke can't be beat. The food is excellent, from lighter fare like sandwiches on pretzels to more traditional dishes like white sausage with mustard. My brother-in-law ordered two different beers, and said they were the best he's ever had in his life. The most lasting memory for us, however, was our absolutely amazing server on our second visit. She was warm, friendly, funny, and spoke excellent English, giving us tips and recommendations for our Luzern stay. We even shared hugs on our final visit. Don't miss the Rathaus Brauerei--it remains a highlight of our wonderful stay in Switzerland!

We sat outside on the deck and it was a lovely experience. It's an unusual place as it's name suggests German cuisine but the menu is written in French and some of the items have a Swiss influence, others German, others Italian and some French.
