"Beep beep" "Be running up that road. Be running up that hill. Be running up that building (Ye-yo)…read more Say, if I only could, oh" - Kate Bush. This is not my usual bus line but if I need to make a detour to get to downtown PDX this bus line will suffice. I really feel strange riding this bus line but when I got to do what I got to do. This TriMet bus line is strangely very popular since the 1980s hence the Kate Bush song. Now this is a Stranger Thing I can stand by. This bus goes across the famous Steel Bridge. If you miss the TriMet tram, this is a great alternative to getting to the city. If you live in the "suburbs" this bus is a rarity but a true gem to ride on. I will ride this bus line if I got the time. Only issue is that I wish it better connected people living in the "suburbs" with downtown PDX. It would be a very nice though.

I'm going to have to claim full disclosure here as my brother drives on this line for TriMet, so the "la familia" connection might have something to do with this. But like I said in my check-in comment yesterday, this bus runs from far SW Portland (up right across the street from PCC Sylvania (and oddly enough I used to live a couple of blocks from there several years ago) and ends up at Pier Park (and oddly enough just a couple of blocks from where I live now). Must be the symmetry of having lived at both ends of the line, but when I see this bus coming, I know that it's going to get me home, end of story, period. I don't have to transfer to any other buses. The drivers are all easy to get along with (especially my brother), and over the years I've seen some wonderful instances of kindness towards passengers. Sure, there are some jerky drivers, but then there are some jerky passengers, so it all evens out. One of my favorite parts of the ride on the North Portland side is that it traverses Willamette Boulevard (all those beautiful homes and view) through University of Portland (gorgeous campus) and somewhat close to the Cathedral Bridge. I enjoy it so much that it makes me forget I'm tired at times and even puts me in a better mood to go home. My brother notwithstanding, I'm a fan of this line. It gets me where I want to go and home again along with some friendliness and great views!

You can take the streetcar to get to the stop, cross the street, then hop on the tram (roundtrip). It was about $8 roundtrip for adults. We bought the tickets and boarded the car from upper level, entrance right next to OHSU Hospital. Ticket prices were $9 for round trip. The tram was really popular for locals, especially for the employees working at the hospital. The upper terminal had multiple lookout spots to see the city skyline and also up close watching the tram heading to the lower terminal. As we started heading down the hill, we saw stunning view of the city's greenery, houses, buildings and Willamette river. In the horizon, we could also see the snowy Mount Hood. The ride was about 5 minutes. At lower level, everyone had to exit the lower level terminal. Then we used our round trip ticket to enter the terminal again and board the same car. At the lower terminal, there was a huge parking stand for bicycles. Trip from lower to upper terminal was little longer, took about 8-9 minutes. Being a sunny bright day, we absolutely loved the short round trip for such a decent price.

I didn't want to deal with Ubers, plus multiple Uber XLs can get expensive. I also wanted a private car that we could play music in. We had a GREAT experience! I emailed with the company for months beforehand, they communicated well and gave me a quote with no hidden fees. Our driver, Zhieco, was super nice and professional, he opened all the doors for us every time we got in or out, and when we asked him questions he was chatty and good company. The SUV was very spacious and the actual ride was very smooth. Zhieco arrived early to pick us up which was appreciated, and there were no issues at all. Definitely would recommend!!!:)

We are his support group so we got a room here as well. We are pleased we did. This is indeed a low cost hotel, you are not staying at the Ritz Carlton. The price is a good value for a simple, safe overnight stay. Yes there are cracks, dents and chips, scrapes and bruises, but this place is clean. A spot of touch up paint, a bit of caulk or spackle, replace a screw.. this hotel is one decent Maintenance Person away from being a solid 4 star hotel. The rooms were clean and the beds have fresh linens. No dirt, no bugs. A/C works very well. There is a dresser for unpacking, a mini fridge, microwave, one cup coffee maker, wall mounted TV and a normal sized shower tub. The beds are a nice firmness with a soft mattress pad. When we made our reservation we mentioned that we are going to the VA with a relative. They instantly offered us a discounted hospital rate which we gratefully accepted. Upon check in we were met pleasantly and the check in process was a breeze. There was fresh hot coffee in the lobby that was a solid medium roast, no heartburn. The hotel is located within easy walking distance to several eateries making our stay here all too easy. An affordable location in the Portland area and easy access to the freeway, we would stay here again.

Cedric (the owner) is the literally the best! When I reached out about his company for wine tours,…read morehe called me and we had a fantastic chat. He was very attentive and wanted to get a vibe for what the group (6 women) wanted and enjoys in life - all so HE could plan 2 amazing days at wineries in the greater Portland area. After the chat, we netted out on two full days (8 hrs each day. We survived by the way.) in June. He picked us up right at our Airbnb (Pearl) in a comfortable van with lots of room and already had the jams playing (his 90s/00s playlist is ON POINT). For the first day, we went out to the Mt. Hood area which was beyond beautiful (don't think I've ever seen a winery with a majestic mountain as a back drop). I highly recommend this route as it has more of a mom & pop feeling than other major wine areas I've visited (especially if you can do multiple days in this region). You also get a wider range of varietals vs. Willamette (not knocking W.V. AT ALL as I'm a Pinot Noir gal). Cedric completely planned the entire day and we hit up 4 different wineries and none disappointed. He also grabbed us lunch which was fantastic. The drive is beautiful along the Colombia River. Dropped off at our place in the Pearl. Day 2 (the following day) we hit up the famous Willamette Valley. We had a couple last minute requests (in terms of must-have wineries) that Cedric completely accommodated and he re-routed our day to ensure we hit the best of the best. He worked his magic and we were able to visit FIVE (!), including the last stop where we chatted with the owner/winemaker while playing bocce ball (Utopia wines). It was a fantastic day. We visited some big players like Domaine Serene (YES) and Stoller (great for a picnic lunch), but also some smaller but beautiful wineries like Colene Clemens (top of hill overlooking valley) and Vista Hills (think tree house vibes). Cedric promised a magical day and he delivered. This was by far my favorite wine tour experience and I've done a lot of them across the country/world. Cedric was the difference maker. He's a fantastic and hilarious host and truly makes the experience one to remember. His company has other drivers as well and I imagine they are of the same breed as Mr. Cedric, so no matter who you get, you won't be disappointed!!
