Ironically, there is The Amara Hospice home. My family has been very happy and satisfied with the facility personnel, the clean environment and the over all warmth and caring attitude displayed by the nursing staff. The facility is clean. No unsanitary smells or other that make one feel uncomfortable. The kitchen area is welcoming and available. Overall we were very happy with the services provided and the comfort given to my granmother in her final days. Unfortunatley we are having to visit this place a second time.

When my mom was taken there on March 10, 2017, he was considerate and understanding. We never received copies of documents signed and most definitely NEVER WERE TOLD that she could only be there 3 months. But yet I have been told by several staff that another patient has been there close to a year. Even the patient's daughter confirmed it. At the beginning my mom would drink 3 cans of ensure and would take a bite or two on food given and she hardly drank water. Towards the middle of April she stopped eating and stopped drinking the ensure. She started to drink about 3 cups of styrofoam glasses with water(The smallest ones) a day. She would call out "Agua". But would drink very little of it. Her health was most definitely deteriorating and she even lost her eyesight. On about the second week of May I was visiting my mom and Frank Godinez, social worker came in to tell me that we needed to consider taking my mom home or to a nursing home. According to him my mom was doing better. He went as far as to say she was drinking and eating. I explained to him that all of us worked so that was not an option. He said if you can afford a nursing home they charge about $3000 a month . Or why not take her home and we could follow the schedule we had here, since there was always someone in the room with her. Again I explained that we worked. But on their pamphlet they encourage family be there. My sister then went to talk to him and he told her the same thing. Went as far as telling her that my mom drank 6 ensure cans daily. Which is false. In fact I asked the aides if they logged down the number of cans given to her, they said NO. On one occasion we dated the 3 cans in her room to see how long they would remain untouched ? Sadly they were there for an entire week. So I'm not sure where he gets his information from. So anyway on the last week of May he and Joanna (nurse) told my sister we had to transfer my mom elsewhere because she was better and stable. My sister quickly contacted another agency who would accept her. But unfortunately Frank talked to someone at Comfort House and convinced her that my mom was doing better and she would surpass 3 months of life. Therefore she wasn't accepted. She was sent to a nursing home June 1, 2017. Nurse who assessed my mom told my sister that THEIR documentation stated my mom had a sore on the buttock and she was eating and drinking. Well the nurse came to find no sore whatsoever. What upsets and ANGERS me is why did Frank document false information about my moms health. While my mom was still there I asked him for copies of the determination. He said the staff from Retama have it and that I could get from them. Second time we asked they denied giving us copies of assessment notes that determined she was better. They said we needed a lawyer or have her PcP request them. No ETHICS for either of these two employees. Sadly my mom passed away on June 4, 2017

My mother has been living at The Gardens in Pharr nearly since the day they opened. I doubt that…read morewe could have selected a better place for her to enjoy these later years of her life. The facility still looks new, and it is clean, modern, and well managed and run. Everyone on the staff is extremely helpful. This is particularly important for me, living outside the United States. There is a basic monthly charge that covers rent, meals (3 per day, and healthy), and utilities (excluding phone). The charge varies only due to the size of the apartment chosen; studio, or one and two bedroom options. Then there is a variable charge based on the needs of the resident for the care and assistance they require. That level of care is established after an evaluation by The Gardens staff and then in agreement with the resident's family/representative. This is certainly a fair way to allocate charges since some residents...perhaps the older ones...will require more help and attention than those that are younger. And further along, if and when there is the need, they have a memory care unit in the same building, although separated from the residents not yet needing that level of care. Again, I am extremely pleased with the decision to have my mother living at The Gardens. Not being able to visit her frequently, it gives me great peace of mind to know where she is living and that the staff is taking excellent care of her.

He helps patients set goals to improve their health and follows up on problems and goals each visit. Dr. George is very knowledgeable in internal medicine. He is also trained in pulmonary medicine. His knowledge and experience make him a excellent diagnostician. When required he prescribes tests to fully analyze an illness or condition, and integrates this information into effective treatment. He is very thoughtful and knowledgeable about the use of medication both for acute and chronic conditions. Dr. George is friendly and also has a sense of humor. In addition he is very open to constructive criticism of the operations of the practice, Valley Internal Medicine Associates (VIMA). Dr. George maintains and uses detailed electronic medical records. He is also very responsive to communications submitted via the practice's web portal. Dr. George is one of three physicians that operate the practice as a corporation. Dr. George is very supportive of the practice's goal to provide a broad set of medical services to adults. This allows immediate use of laboratory tests, x-rays, and the other diagnostic tools within a single visit to the office. I am giving Dr. George a rating of five stars because he has provided me exceptional medical services that exceed my expectations of a primary care physician.

Doctor was very nice and very professional. The staff was also very friendly and nice. Would definitely come here again if I need to see a doctor at night time again.
