Awesome airport that has a ton of great stores and food options. The airport is super modern and security is really efficient.

The Barcelona international airport allows for easy access and many amenities. An approximate 30 minute drive from downtown in good traffic I highly recommend that you consider staying at one of the beachfront hotels that are only a 10 minute drive the night before and then relax with your toes in the sand rather than fighting traffic in the morning. The terminal itself has a large modern vibe and you will certainly get your steps in getting to your gate. Similar to most locations in Barcelona It's recommended that you keep your eye on your personal possessions. There is plenty of shopping if you need that last-minute gift or simply looking to spend the last of your foreign currency coins. There is a currency exchange in the airport, which is convenient and not found at all airport locations. Hope you have the opportunity to utilize the airport and if you do, bon voyage!

My husband and I flew in and out of Barcelona International Terminal for a vacation in September 2025. The terminal had dozens of duty-free stores and restaurants. While we waited for our outgoing flight to depart, we browsed the stores and ate a meal. The Stamp store had a nice selection of souvenirs such as bull figurines, candies, decorated plates, t-shirts, and much more. Other stores sold clothing, accessories, books, toys, etcetera. Restaurants included international chains such as Burger King but also local ones such as Boldu, where we enjoyed cute and tasty donuts. Other resturants served tapas, sushi, chocolates, wines, coffees, etcetera. Overall, I think that this airport terminal had a decent number and variety of stores and restaurants to spend time while we waited for our flight. read more
Barcelona Airport was our hub for our travel to/from Spain and to surrounding cities, and I have to say, this airport ran pretty efficiently without any sort of pre-check of US travelers. When we arrived, getting through customs took under 30 minutes with a pretty long line, which we thought was a win. What I appreciated about this airport in comparison to US airports I've been to is how well stocked and maintained their priority pass lounges were. Depending on if you are flying out the EU or going back to the States, they have separate lounges, which we found out after standing in line for the wrong one on our way home lol. The lounges themselves offered decent food and plenty of drink options (alcoholic/non-alcoholic) and plenty of spaces to sit. Easily some of the best priority pass lounges we experienced so far. The airport is massive, with tons of shopping and food options. Coming from the States, things are way more expensive at airports but here it felt like it was slightly more expensive but manageable. Definitely an airport that if you had a significant delay, you'd have an easier time passing time at. read more
Barcelona Airport, the gateway to tapas, Gaudí, and your patience slowly unraveling. It starts off strong, sleek and clean floors, big windows, you know, there's a whiff of potential here. But then you walk. And walk. And walk some more. Are you catching a flight or training for a marathon? Unclear. Just relax, lower your expectations, and maybe you'll even enjoy the five-mile hike to your gate. Bienvenido, baby. read more

Lots of shopping and places to eat. Not a huge airport. Lots of passengers visiting. Easy transfer.

This was our entry point into Europe from the States. It's a fairly small airport. We landed. We didn't have any checked baggage, so it was smooth sailing as soon as we landed. Grabbed a taxi to take us to the city center. We didn't explore public transit options which I am sure there were, not being family with this location. The last time I was in Barcelona was over 40 years ago, so, I'm sure things changed since then. Anyway, it's nice Barcelona is direct flight from Atlanta. Only about 8 hours in the air and you are in a nice Mediterranean coastal city. Many folks land here to get on a cruise. Not this time, but perhaps another. read more

It's certainly well designed to manage thousands of passengers and vast amounts of luggage. Essentially giant air conned sheds with airport style security check equipment and all quite friendly and very efficient. The day we returned we were one of five mega ships docked around likely over 40,000 souls and 100,000 cases. If every passenger carried the luggage my wife takes between us then it would be close to quarter of a million. Small wonder that some of the locals are now protesting about huge tourist numbers. The taxis came in waves split among five such sheds and an impressive in - port road network and they vied for room amongst private coaches, public transport buses and bespoke limousines. When we arrived the previous week we had already pre registered so check - in and boarding was a breeze. Usually the only difficulty is when their computer systems fail. They offer free WiFi too. So Uber from hotel to the ship €18 and in return the city taxi was €28.50. Maybe us tourists should be protesting too? read more

Terrible. Terrible terrible. Maybe the worst TSA system I've ever seen. International terminal Employee genius number one moved us 50 yards away to "fast" line around the corner. It was slow, incompetent and swelteringly hot. They Have completely forgotten what security should be focusing on. Every minor metal in a bag inexplicably gets the WHOLE line to stop while you explain that it's a euro or a hair clip or a phone battery or whatever. THE WHOLE LINE!! It's an id iotic process. If u insists on over-frequent stopping, maybe pull these tourist monsters with an iPhone off to the side. Second brainiac saw that I did not set off metal alarm, so he swabbed my hands. Excellent waste of everyone's time. 10 year old boy behind me was tired, bored (20 minutes in this horrific line while every Single person was detained in this pathetic traffic jam) was yelled at about his baseball cap. He started to cry. whoever thinks any of this was a good idea, should be forced to endure it on the way to getting fired read more

This has to be one of my most favorite airports. To use the term breathtakingly beautiful is still quite an understatement. Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport is a small, compared to many, but gorgeously adorned and maintained facility. We took a small charter from Kenya here for a week of training and of course, relaxation. I will gave ti review Barcelona's beaches and nightlife separately. Flying the chartered plane flown by blue sky aviation was a joy. It was near first class for all onboard, much to my surprise, as many expected to be on a cargo aircraft with some chickens, lol. Our next destination was Lamu, Kenya. A beautiful northern Kenya coastal town that's just begging to be enjoyed. There was 5 in my group and we lavished in a seaside villa that could comfortably accommodate up to 9. I think I found my new home read more
This is my new favorite airport--as far as airports go. There are a lot of great shops and places to eat. There's not as many chairs. It's like a big shopping mall where planes just happen to take-off and land. We did find some big comfy seats hidden behind the back of the shops and the windows. It was pretty easy to navigate. Some signs are a little confusing because up and forward look the same, and sometimes they actually want you to go up. Everyone was friendly. The place was really clean when we were there. I'm sure it gets crowded in high season, but we are low season travelers. read more
Great airport but crowded and can be confusing when you don't speak enough of the language. Clean, long lines move intermittently, security was polite. Do all your shopping before you clear security because once you check through you have very limited options and cannot go back. Plenty of great restaurants and shops. read more

The airport was really nice it was easy getting through the gates and lots of shopping in the airport with some great restaurants. I loved the food places and the prices were reasonable. What is really nice is the transportation you can pay a van about $25.00 to take you into the city or the subway. I took a bus from downtown cost me about $17.00 and took a half hour. read more

If you are flying to the states and want to shop make sure you don't go toward your gate if you're leaving out of D or E X-ray security. If you do, once you pass passport check you have limited options. I wish I knew but now I do. Otherwise nice airport. read more
