I love the power yoga classes offered at the studio, but they also offer basics power yoga, kids yoga, prenatal yoga, and other specialized classes to best fit your needs. They have mats available to rent for $1 or you can bring your own. They have a room with changing areas, shelves to place your personal belongings, and plenty of parking out front in the Colony Plaza. As someone who enjoys working out, but isn't fully immersed in all things yoga, I appreciate that Yoga Erie provides a welcoming, safe, and overall positive environment for those of varying skill levels. I've been able to take classes with many different instructors, whose classes are unique in their own ways featuring different combinations of yoga poses. Nonetheless, all classes remain challenging and are sure to make you sweat (no shame in taking water breaks, here!!). Having my mom, sister, or a friend join me at Yoga Erie makes taking a class all the better, too! Definitely give Yoga Erie a try if you are ever in the area (your first class is free!) and be sure to take advantage of their specials. At the start of this past new year, they ran a 2025 special where they offered 5 classes for $20.25. This would make for a great gift or personal purchase to see if you'd be interested in buying some of their other packages like an unlimited membership.

I made a reservation for a 4:30 pm Power Yoga class on a Monday. Mary was my instructor and she was at front desk upon arrival. First time era get a free class, mat and towel rental. Once I had all my gear she gave me a tour of the space 2 changing areas, restrooms and a "locker room". The studio is a large rectangular space with wooden floors, painted wall designs, an area for blocks and props and ceiling mounted infrared heaters. I took a space in the middle of the room that wasn't directly in front of a heater. I thought the class was extremely challenging ... mostly because I am out of practice and I forgot what the heat feels like. Mary circulated the room giving cues throughout and I felt accomplished and relaxed at the end. I will say I like when instructors flow with you and I thought the beginning was a bit too fast, it's important to start slower so your body can get warmed up and you don't compromise form. I'm looking forward to returning for another class in the future.

In partnership with the EDDC, we are located in the heart of downtown Erie at 5th and State, meaning close proximity to all of the Erie-based universities: Gannon, Mercyhurst, and Penn State Behrend. This location is part of an extensive downtown revitalization project that the Erie community is incredibly excited for. Additionally, there had been an independent group, ClimbERIE, working on opening a gym for many years now. As a prominent Erie climbing community voice, they were stoked to learn of our plans and are eager to assist in ASCEND's efforts. We are grateful to have the ClimbERIE team on our side, keeping the climbers of Erie in the forefront of everything we do. This is not just another gym to add to a list, this will be a place for a whole community of people, old and young, new and experienced, to gather, train, coexist, and to call home.
