Also, the hotel claims to offer secure luggage storage for guests and yet I returned to find an unattended lobby and guests' belongings just out in the open for anyone to grab or tamper with. When raising concerns with hotel, verbally and in writing, they offered nothing but slight platitudes and defensive rhetoric. Zero mindfulness of customer service. In short, avoid. Bath has much better to offer.

The suite had two bedrooms, which was nice for a family, but being a Georgian house, there were quirks. The floors were very uneven, to the point that I would feel vertiginous walking around. The bathroom had uneven water pressure where the temperature fluctuated wildly, and there was not enough counter space for 4 people. There was a nice sitting room but definitely not enough closet space. However, the location is so lovely. It's about a block from the Pulteney Bridge and also a block from a full sized Waitrose. It's a short walk to the train station, Bath Abbey, and the Roman Baths. Staff is friendly and generally competent. The front desk staff was a little confused and slow, and, while the rooms were generally clean, I don't advise that guests look under the beds or behind the furniture, as those are very dusty (ick). I love that they leave biscuits to go with tea daily and that they actually replenish everything on a daily basis. Those biscuits were life savers for my jetlagged children whose stomachs were not yet on UK time. I contacted the hotel a couple times before we arrived. They were not able to help with arranging for a babysitter (they told me to Google "Bath" and "babysitter"), but they did give me good information about a wheelchair rental for my husband. I would consider returning here on a future visit.

Every square inch was spotless, and a private car park made it worth the safe and scenic 5-minute downhill walk to the town center. The hospitality was friendly, welcoming, personable, yet also professional. Huzzy and I agreed: we would come back to Bath just to stay here! When we arrived at the 139 in Bath, we were shown to the waiting room and served a nice beverage. The host knew exactly who we were and addressed us by name. We felt welcomed. The room was comfortable and beautiful- very classic in look. We had a great sleep on the bed, like I mentioned- comfortable room! Squeamish skip this paragraph... When I arrived in Bath I was deep into my trip and short on socks. The sock bag in my suitcase had reached critical mass and was going to be a new kind of 'Dirty Bomb'. When asked if the 139 had a washer and dryer, they said of course. They braved the bag. I got my socks back the next morning, folded. Thanks! Breakfast the next morning was wonderful- fresh eggs, great bacon, crunchy and chewy bread (ok so I'm not a food writer). Lots more options than a traditional eggs and bacon breakfast were available. Thanks 139 for a wonderful experience. It's been a couple years since we stayed, but the memory is fresh in my mind.

The hosts were very friendly and gave us some recommendations of what to see/do in the area. The breakfast was just ok. Not many choices and some of it was serve yourself on a large table. I think they should also offer a traditional English breakfast. But for £90/night, it was a great stay.

The only drawback might be the windy stairs up to our room on the top floormight be too demanding if you are in any way incapacitated. The biggest issue was the hidden charges, which they charge you automatically at check out, without asking for your card & showing invoice. Once you book, they try to charge for everything extra to the card you used to book. Breakfast charge was 9.5gbp per person so a family of 3 ended up paying 28gbp/per night. Breakast was so horrible that we realised it does not worth it. So tried to cancel the brealfast for remaining nights, which manager on duty did not accepted. Stayed in November 2021 for 3 nights and been charged for 100gbp for breakfasts !!!! Plus there has been charges for cleaning. Honestly if this hotel wants to get guests and get profitable again, all reception management needs to be replaced by staff with at least basis hospitality attitute. Horrible experience which wasted our holidays.

The breakfast was quite nice the next morning. The only negative we found was that on the day we were there was a heat wave and no AC in the room. Our lovely view had to be shaded in the afternoon when the sun was beating through the window. And the bed was small, yet firm, which I've found in England to be the norm. I'd definitely go back. Just next time I'll ask if they have a King bed in any of the rooms, as I'm a big guy.

When we arrived, the team was welcoming and allowed us to set up a little bit early as we had hired a private room. The private room was expensive but it was a holiday weekend so understandable. Everyone was very happy with their food. Our large group ordered a variety of à la carte and set menu items. Most of the party had the beef shin and loved it. The burger was absolutely delicious too. The desserts were a good size and not too sweet at the end of a big meal. The food was reasonably priced but the sides of veggies were a bit ridiculous. We paid £14 for a few pieces of broccolini! The ambiance was great though and it was just the perfect place to throw a surprise party. There is no parking at the Angel, but there's a big car park about a 5-7 minute walk away (pay when you park). There is street parking much closer, but it got very busy after 10am and the roads are very small to navigate if you're not used to driving in this area. The hotel rooms were so quaint and cosy (very Harry Potter vibes). We have some very tall family members who had to crouch down a lot but it definitely added to the ambience. Our only bad experience and criticism was over breakfast the following morning. The service was terrible (it was not the same team as the previous day) and they were not particularly friendly. One breakfast came out about 30 minutes before the rest. I then went to ask if there was a problem and suddenly all the rest came out, but every dish was extremely cold and had clearly been sitting on the side as the sauce on the eggs benedict had set. We would have sent it back but as it took so long we only had a few minutes to check out of our rooms once everyone had finished. This would have been a 5 star review otherwise. As we were leaving, some of the lunch staff from the day before were coming and immediately greeted us again. Much better customer service! Overall a great experience but definitely let down by the morning staff.

With two starters, two mains, a pudding, and a bottle of prosecco, our bill was just over £80 - for the quality, we'd gladly pay that again in a heartbeat. Although we've been here at all different times of the year, we love coming here in the winter because after dark is when the place really looks its best - the path lights twinkle through the trees and the plaza dome looks like something from outer space! Swimming outside in warm water or heading down the rapids when it's dark and freezing cold is surreal, and even just watching is amazing - the steam rising off the water into the crisp winter air is magical. The only thing that stops me from giving this place five stars is the price - it's not the cheapest holiday, especially when you factor in eating out, activities and all the shops that you have to get the kids past on the way to and from the swimming pool!
