My husband had surgery at these offices on the 26th of March and had to stay home for 3 weeks after. He returned for his follow-up appointment on April 16th and was released to go back to work. The problem is my husband is required to have a note to return back to work after eye surgery as he is in law enforcement. They assured him they were preparing the letter that day and would send it that day. It is now the 21st of April, and his work offices have not recieved a note of clearance. He has called multiple times, emailed, still no note. This is his livelihood we are talking about. read more

This places business practices are bullshit. I visited to check my eligibility for LASIK and got charged $225 when I kept asking the clerk are you sure it's just my copay? Just $10? That's it? They never mentioned any charges, it took 3 MONTHS for me to even get the bill! They never told me they were going to dilate my eyes, good luck driving home? They never followed up with me once after checking if I was eligible either! If you can't get the basics done right why would I trust you with any type of surgery, stay far away from this place. read more

First time here was last week. I came back again today, as I now have a new symptom in my other eye. In both cases, it was a fairly "emergency" visit. Blood in my eye the first time, and then a very swollen bulge on my eyelid the next, with enormous pain. Both times, my experience was like many others. Check in is efficient and polite. But then I'd sit for 1 to 2 hours for a 5-10 minute cursory look over. Definitely not getting the feel that this is a place that anyone should go, other than maybe for advanced surgeries? read more

I must begin by stating that I am a retired doctor....and that I respected my patient's time...I ran on time...all of the time. I'd had an eye exam with Dr. Johnson 2/22/24. I called the office 3 days in advance to advise that I had another appointment right after and that I'd like him to be on time. He ran 29 minutes late and I had to leave before the exam was completed. I called that day and spoke with the office manager to explain and I was given another appointment. That appointment was today (2/29/24) and he was 21 minutes late for a 9:05 appointment. 21 minutes late and the office was only open for an hour!!! He entered to do the exam (without saying a thing about his two tardy appearances) and it was immediately clear to me that he had not even looked at my chart!! (I am legally blind in my right eye since 2005 and I had to point this out to him.) Let the buyer be aware!!! read more

This could have been a 5+ star review based on Dr. McGarey...he was knowledgeable, informative and pleasant. On the negative side, my appointment was at 755am and I left the center after 10am. During that time I received approximately 25 minutes of actual care. So, 25 minutes + time waiting for the dilation process=approximately 45-60 minutes however I was there over two hours. As a result, I was stressed, anxious and late for another appointment. Though I appreciate the important role BDP plays in providing eye care to many people throughout Arizona, the waiting experience was inconsiderate and disrespectful. read more

I am happy to report that thanks to Whitney in the front office of the Barnet Dulaney Eye Center. I have finally received the refund of the double payment that I had made to the billing company since they received heatedly sent me bills after I paid with a check that they claimed, they had never received, despite proof on my app. Apparently the check had been credited to a different account which seems a bit lame. read more

My doctor was wonderful, but the rating is for their business practices. I was paying my bill and was sent to collections without any notice. I paid it off in full in December 2024. Now, I get another bill. I called yesterday, April 15, 2025 to find out what it is for. I was told that the $75 was for the second surgery. I get another notice from the collection today for the $75 without any prior notice from the American Vision Partners. They did not tell me when I called that they had sent it to collections. I believe that they do not know what they are doing in that office. I believe that a patient should be notified before their credit is messed up! If you are unable to pay in full, I suggest you use a medical doctor who is not affiliated with American Vision Partners. Why didn't they send the whole amount of the bill to the collections the first time. You can't take parts of a bill and keep sending to collections without the patient knowing about it. I just paid $74.74 to be forgotten about in the dilation waiting room and to be handed an over the counter eye drop for my allergies when I asked the front desk if I was forgotten about. The guy who made my appointment over the phone could have just told me what to purchase when I told him all I needed were eye drops for allergies and the smoke in the air. I feel robbed. read more

I had cataract surgery on my right eye and had complications following surgery. I saw experienced a black curtain every-time the light conditions changed,, Dr. David Mcgarey performed the surgery and stated it will eventually go away on its own, it didn't. I took a chance and needed to have the cataract removed from my right eye the following year. I made the mistake of allowing Dr. Mcgarey to perform the surgery, now I see a dirty piece of s cellophane crossing my vision where I cannot see out of my eye. I followed up with the VA only to find out the lense has a dirty wrinkle in it so now I have to have surgery to try to correct it! Dr. Mcgarey is a nice guy but stay clear if you want to be able to see correctly in your future! Terribl, to say the least! read more

Having had a vitrectomy on Thursday, my follow-up was Friday. The tech took me back, asked a couple questions and showed me a reading of 33" on the instrument she used on the operative eye. She stated that my eye pressure was elevated. I was taken to the exam room. Dr. Johnson was very professional, but yet spoke to me in a kind manner. He told me there was a concern because eye pressure was elevated. He immediately began a more thorough investigation. He showed concern and compassion for me as an individual. He asked a few questions, then looked like he was thinking what the best treatment would be required. He told me what he was going to prescribe and instryctuins,vand told me I needed to come back in a few days. I felt as though I was his only patient)although there several). I left there totally satisfied, and taken care of by Dr. Johnson. read more

My husband had an exam and a cyst was found in an eye, nothing was done about seeing Dr. Graff. Finally, when Graff was supposed to show up for a surgical check up, and he never showed up! Dr. Graff is arrogant, rude and has a very poor dr/patient attitude. read more

I go once a year for check up and look at getting new glasses. Twice a year they have a 50% discount for veterans so those are the months I go. Due to COVID they request only the patient come to the appointment. They check your temperature and give you a new mask before going inside. They are enforcing social distancing. They are always friendly there from checking in, to seeing the doctor, and vision center. The take the time to explain options for glasses and they have a nice selection of frames. If you want a great check up and quality glasses, check this place out. read more

I had a swollen upper eye lid for a few days progressively getting worse. I was worried being an icu nurse of every worst thing that it could be. Dr. Johnson saw me that morning after a walk in. The staff was super nice, helpful and understanding especially being from out of state. If I lived in Flagstaff permanently this would definitely be my go to place. I have been going to Barnet, Delany and Perkins Eye 20 trars now since Dr Delany did my Lasix 20 years ago. I have never had any problems with the group I use here in Flagstaff. The doctor was nice. I signed the refraction fee permission but was not told it would be double for a contact prescription change until after I had the samples in hand. They would refund the money but not give me the prescription I paid for. Not acceptable. Very bad business practice! read more

The staff at the eye center were amazing. I didn't have a long wait, the lady who took me in and did all the tests on my eyes and everything I forgot what her name was but she was a doll. Dr Johnson was very efficient, very nice and very informative. Everything was very clean. If I had to find something to pick on there was no toilet paper in the bathrooms. read more

I have Posterior Vitreous Detachment in my right eye. I came to the eye center for a 6 month appointment to check the progress of this. I also had some questions to ask. The Dr. that saw me was very rude. The first thing he said to me and his greeting was "Why are you here? " I stated that I had Posterior Vitreous Detachment in my right eye and I was here to check the progress of it. He stated that it was normal for someone of my age and why was I here. He sounded like I was wasting his time. I then stated I had a couple of questions about this and the answer to each question was "It is normal for someone of your age." His voice grew more impatient with each question so after asking two questions I said ok and then I left. This was a waste of time and money. I will not be going back here. I will be looking for another eye Doctor. I do not recommend Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center in Flagstaff. read more

Dr. Palmer was great usual. Friendly, through and listens to his patients. His assistant was not so much. She was with me almost 15 minutes and spent about 4 minutes doing her pre-exam procedures. The rest was spent pecking on the computer and talking to herself. Had one of the 1st appointments of the day (7:45 a.m.) and was still 15 minutes late getting called back. Had to think it was the time spent with the previous patient with the assistant that delayed everything. read more

I've been coming for many years and if it weren't for him I probably would consider going to another eye doctor due to the fact that signing in is a pain! It's rude! It's unkind! It's intrusive! It's ridiculous! What happened to public relations? There was none of that when one checks in with a stupid machine. Last year was bad enough with the pad in my lap. I was not the only one there complaining about that system! It's annoying and people just want to be greeted by a human! Perhaps you don't have the help! That's no excuse! We would rather wait a few extra minutes than have to deal with a check-in machine. Please reconsider this process. You have a lot of seniors there and this is extra difficult for them! Attempted to schedule over due an eye exam and was questioned if I worked at a healthcare facility and came in contact with Covid patients. I replied yes I am an RN at FMC. Employee informed me that they would not schedule me until a further date because I was a Nurse (pretty much) Barnet Dulaney Perkins SHAME ON YOU! Discriminated against because I am a nurse that serves my community at the local hospital during a pandemic. "I've had the worst experience with this business. Especially the employee Katie. If there was a picture next to the definition of rude in the dictionary, you'd see a photo of her. They refused to send an authorization to the insurance company so that I can obtain my medically necessary contacts, prior to the end of the benefit period. The insurance company had to get involved and they still refused. They wanted a promissory notice signed, agreeing to financial liability, prior to having a determination from the insurance company and knowing the actually amount of patient liability, if any. I believe they were trying to double dip from the patient and the insurance company. It shouldn't be weeks long back and forth to obtain a medically necessary item. The provider needs to take a look at their internal processes and customer service model because it's very broken from my experience." The date today is 1-25-24 and I first ordered these contacts around November 30, 2023 and I've yet to see these contacts. The regional director contacted me on or about January 6, 2023 and told me everything has been taken care of as far as ordering my contacts. Well I'm still waiting! This behavior by there optical shop has been going on for years. Both girls that work are very rude, they have no customer service training and believe they don't need it. When something goes wrong with your eyes it is very scary. The moment I walked in the Flagstaff BDP center, I was put at ease. Everyone was friendly, and encouraging. I've been a patient with BDP for eight years but from the experience over the past few weeks, I don't think that they really want me or my family as patients. Since BDP sold out to American Vision, the quality of customer & patient service has gone downhill. Exceptional doctors - however, if you don't go to see them frequently, you will be charged as a new patient. I've been a patient here for over 20 years. I hadn't been in to see anyone for 4 years so I was charged as a new patient - over $400! I was also charged because I wanted to take my script with me, $50. I just can't afford to go here any longer. It's very sad that my time with these doctors doesn't count for anything. Dr. McGarey is fantastic as is Dr. Johnson but who can afford to pay their fees in this day and age? I can't believe they charged me as a new patient even though I've been going there for over 20 years. Time to find a new eye doctor. read more

I saw Dr. Graff on a possibly emergent visit in Flagstaff. He was kind and knowledgeable. I was super nervous after detaching my vitreous and possible retina. His staff told me i couldn't have my husband come back with me and Dr. Graff let me bring him back to calm my nerves. He explained exactly what happened and treatment. I hope to never have to see a retina surgeon again, but if i do i hope it's Jordan Graff. read more
