Baro Gimbap is a grab-n-go Korean spot located on the a plaza on Orangethorpe in Fullerton. They offer a bunch of ready-to-eat appetizers, such as potato salads, kimchi, etc. as well as ready-to-eat gimbap. They also offer a few combo deals where you can grab a gimbap and one of their hot food items, such as the fish cake skewers! Inside, it's a bit cramped but there are a few tables to sit down and eat if you aren't into the whole grab-n-go thing. Service is quick and checkout is really easy. For my visit, I had both their odeng and their spicy odeng gimbap, as well as combining one for the deal where we could get fish cake skewers. Everything was delicious! My personal favorite part was the spicy odeng gimbap, which had the exact kick I was looking for along with the satisfying crunch from the veggies. The portion is fairly large for how much it costs ($7 for spicy odeng, $6 for odeng). Another thing I have to highlight is the fish cake skewers in the soup. These were so soft and light, and tasted great! Sipping the soup as you're eating the skewers really makes for an amazing experience. Overall, I loved my visit to Baro Gimbap. I recommend everyone give it a try, even if you aren't a big fan of gimbap! I want to come back and try their cutlet!! 9/10! read more

Extremely rude service. The lady at the counter made it clear from the moment we walked in that she didn't want us there. The space is too tight for a comfortable meal, especially with kids. If your child makes even a little noise, expect glares and an attitude. When my toddler had a hard time, the attitude we received was the final straw. There are quite a few places selling kimbap and banchan in the area, but I keep going back to Baro Gimbap for a few items. My favorite is a newer menu item here, yuksu bulgogi. I also really enjoy the mini egg kimbap, spicy tuna kimbap, perilla oil noodles, and sashimi rice bowl. Note that before 9 am they only have kimbap and whatever banchan they have in the fridge area; you have to come after 9 am to order noodles. Expect a 10-15 min wait for most hot food orders. The interior is small but clean. I usually just get my food to go, but there are a few tables inside for those who would like to dine in. read more

We did come a bit later, and they were limited in their selection of kimbap, but we found the egg kimbap that we got to be flavorful and well wrapped. You walk in and all the variety of kimbaps are along the left wall with various shelved items (perilla leave oil, sesame oil, dried anchovies, etc..) To your right are the tables and an area where you put your trays back. Why am I tipping again if I put my trays back? Nope, were not in Covid days anymore, sorry but no. I've worked in the Food & Beverage business and I get it, but if I didn't serve you or clean up after you and come around to ask I d you ned anything I don't think I will get a tip. That's just my opinion. Now if you're really friendly and you still didn't serve me or wait on me then maybe. But not this time homey. Back to the food...The fishcake as good, the broth I could careless about. But it's very important for the broth to be tasty you may say. Why yes it is! That's true, but sometime the fishcake is enough. In this case it was enough for me to say okay, I like it. Would I come here for fishcake? Answer is no. The soup is light and you can still taste the raddish but it's not to the point where you can get juggy just with the soup. Sorry, but the fishcake inside H-mart has more flavor. IYKYK!! Kimbap, I ordered the egg one. Boy was that the most plainest kimbap I've ever tasted. I knew I should have tried the bulgolgi one. I also tried the combo one and it was the same. I didn't expect a hole in the wall to blow my mind. The food here was so delicious and you can tell its made with love and quality. Food came out hot and ready in just about 10 minutes. Yelp hooked me up! I was hungry for breakfast but (for once) I didn't feel like a traditional one. So Yelp sent me here. The parking lot is sketchy like dangerous people around. And in between a laundromat and a Mexican bakery is Baro. They have a beautiful door and you can see inside that it's warm and inviting, and clean. I was going to eat while driving but the place is very inviting. The huge menu is on the wall. My mouth was already primed for kimbap so that's what I ordered. One gabo and one egg. The kimbap here is 5/5! The price for the quality is also very reasonable. I've tried the tuna, the bulgogi, the gobo, the odaeng, and the mini little kimbaps. They are all super good and nothing can beat a $6 gobo kimbap. My toddler absolutely loves loves loves the mini little kimbaps. I've also gotten their spicy marinated crab twice now and think it's priced really well for a good hefty portion. Although the food is good, I had to take off a star for their service. Similar to other reviews, I've been here several times now and unfortunately each time the same employee there has been very, very unpleasant. It was as if me being there and ordering was a bother/burden for her. However, the food and pricing is good enough to look past that and I will likely continue to come again in the future. The old Korean cashier woman is too rude and so ruined every customer's mood today around 4pm. I went here with mom. Other old Korean women in the line also said why she was so rude? Did we do something wrong? I am curious what's wrong with her today? I am not asking kindness at all for togo kimbaps but her stare is very creepy and not even answering or responding at all. I had to ask several times for ordering certain kimbap and paying at the cashier. Won't recommend this place and will let others in Korean community know this bad experience. There are many kimbap places way better than this with worst experience!! If you don't want to ruin your day, DO NOT visit this horrible place until she got fired. Such a nostalgic and cute little shop. It's clean, well organized, and service was prompt and efficient. We really enjoyed the variety of kimbap fillings and Baro Gimbap's makes this place great bang for buck! For 3 people, we ordered a mini kimbap, regular sized kimbap, rose tteokbokki, and spicy cold chewy noodle to share, and it was such a delicious and plentiful feast! If it wasn't for the fact that we were going to be out and about the rest of the day, I would have picked up additional boxes on the way out to enjoy later. Baro kimbap has premade kimbap to grab and that's on the go. Prices are pretty high compared to the small portion size. However, the taste of their food is solid. You can alway eat in as well as they have other things on their menu like noodles and pork cutlet. They have a few booths to sit at and sell side dishes as well. On a Friday around lunchtime, there was a great selection of kimbaps made and available grab & go. They were out of the bulgogi at the time, but had a wide array of side dishes to choose from as well. Luckily, by the time we went to checkout, there was some fresh bulgogi kimbap being brought out! That being said, the bulgogi kimbap was good, but not as great as some hyped it up to be. The meat itself wasn't as sweet or aromatic as I was expecting. It actually reminded me of hamburger meat, as some other reviews mentioned it's "smoky" taste. Though the other fillings were great and well balanced. The spicy odeng was my favorite, as the fish cake (odeng) stood out among its other ingredients. The only thing - it is truly spicy, not like the "spicy fish cake" you may buy at Hmart. The spicy creeps up and lingers a bit, but you can always balance it out with one of their sides or other kimbaps. The seasoned dried squid provided some spice relief and was definitely seasoned well. This roll included another type of herb/green that I couldn't identify that gave it a slight bitterness. If I lived closer, I would come back to try other kimbaps and possibly their kitchen order dishes as well. read more

I found a new korean kimbop specialty, K snack restaurant in Fullerton. It was around 9:30 Sat morning, so many customers took out the foods early morning. It was only my husband and I ate at the table 2 different kimbops, anchovy, fish cake, and pork cutlet. Ambiance is bright, casual, decent but tiny. The wooden tables and chairs are main concept of interior of this restaurant. They have a huge menu on the wall, noodles, entrees, snacks, and Party size of assortments of kimbop, etc. Once you entered, you will see the korean side dishes such as seasoned pickles, traditional popular side dishes, and some dry powder typed meal replacement packages. I told the staff at the cashier, we will eat here, she said pick any your kimbops and order other foods. She looked unfriendly, overwhelmed. I felt uncomfortable. The anchovy kimbop was good, fresh made this morning, pork cutlet was crunchy, perfect balance w dipping sauce, accompanied with fresh cooked rice. My husband liked the foods. Two things I didn't like were the parking and service. It was tough to park in the small strip busy mall where the liquor store, laundry store, and some deli bakery were together. The service was not good. No smiles!!! They don't care about the customer service....so many customers are in and out from early morning???? I was really impressed with their gimbap. The set in the photo is Gimbap Part box 2, the $70 option with the two egg gimbap. It may sound pricey for gimbap but the quality, portion, and presentation made it feel worth it. The gimbap tasted fresh and premium, and it is honestly one of the best kimbap sets I have had. I would definitely go back for it. I also tried a couple of banchan on the side, including the salted squid and chili pepper, and both were very good. One important tip is that the gimbap set menus should be ordered ahead of time. The lady there was kind enough to accommodate us with about 30 minutes notice, but they usually prefer a few hours or even a day of advance notice. This place feels more like a casual Korean snack and takeout spot than a full sit down restaurant. Parking can be tricky because of the coin laundry next door. LOVE this place. I first learned about this place when someone else brought it to another party I went to. It was so pretty the party box! Mom and pop, small little place but super cute and modern. Super tasty gimbap, they have side dishes that you can grab and go. This time, I ordered the party tray. They didn't have any English translation of what the party tray entails so I called hoping to get some help but, nobody was able to help me. lol. Old grandmas and aunties back there hustling and putting things together so you know it's legit! I ended up having a friend translate so I ended up ordering the party tray #2. My friend said it included roasted anchovy, a marinated brown root, smoked bulgogi, tuna, and Korean sausage. Party #1 and #2 are similar. #3 party tray has Yubu pockets with sweet vinegar rice. #4 has pork bulgogi instead of beef bulgogi like 1-3. Their party trays are great for parties and they are so beautiful! Everyone enjoyed it, there was something for everyone and everyone loved it and complimented on it! First, tough to park the car, some parking spots only for 30 mins for pick up only, most of spots were taken. It was early morning 9:30 Saturday for brunch, I noticed many customers picked up the foods, looked so busy. We picked 2 kimbops, anchovy and fish cakes. I ordered pork cutlet. I liked all the foods but my pick was cutlet. Crunchy!! The sauce was well balanced w cutlets, even kimbops. My wife is always concerened about the service. She didn't like their service. Unfriendly, unwelcoming!! Well, we discovered a new Korean kimbop, snack restaurant near our home. I expect more friendly service at the cashier next time. The parking is not easy there. Too busy, tiny....many 30 mins only spots. How can you park to dine in??? The business opens at 8, close at 8. This is a great point for the customers who need to eat early morning.
