They have sunset tour, where you first get a tour of the old castle and story of the family. They are the oldest winery in Italy and also the owners have spent significant resources on the science of wine to learn how to improve the quality and taste, very impressive. The castle is impressive with vast views of the Tuscany nature. At the end you have a meal in their restaurant. It is a pre-fix menu with a selection of their wines. The food was delicious. We had a spinach soufflé, risotto, filet and milleforge cake with matching wines. Really nice experience. read more

We went on many wine tours on our Italy trip in 2009. This castle / vineyard was by far our favorite place. Just take a look at my profile picture....yes, it was there. The tour was lovely, the history and how they had their hand in the Chianti recipe and standards, etc. Oh and the wine was excellent. I am just glad that I can actually get some that has been imported to the US now. I couldn't find it anywhere when we got back in 2009. read more

We did the castle tour and winery tasting. Price was right, and the tour was fantastic. The Castle is huge and has a ton of history. They go into the history of the castle and the history of Italy, both of which was nice education for the rest of our trip as we ran into things we learned about on this tour. Its a short drive down the hill to the winery where the tour was a not as impressive (prob due to we were there when they were not harvesting). The Tasting was nice, they did 3 wines but after they try to sell you on the catalog of wines, which you can ask for additional tastings. The merlot and the rose were my favorites. Rose was not as sweet as most others - it was a nice change drinking a dry Rose. read more

I went here with some of my girlfriends and we had a sunset tour of the castle followed by wine tasting from their vineyards paired with delicious foods. They started us off with rose paired with a flan/cream cheese appetizer with of course freshly baked bread. Our next course was pasta with veal paired with their famous Chianti Classico. We then had rooster with almost like a caesar dressing. And for dessert we had tiramisu with a dessert wine. You can't be picky at something like this because it's all chef's menu and they don't post the menus. You know what you're getting when you sit down. Everything was amazing and delicious. I ain't afraid of no ghost!! This is the 2nd oldest winery in the world and a castle from 11th century. It's huge, formidable, and amazing. We thought we were able to book a tour early (as we were a couple weeks away from our trip) but found out that all but the sunset tour were booked solid. So we booked our sunset tour which included an after hours visit to the museum, chapel and the English garden. This was followed by a 4 course meal at the restaurant a little down the hill. Prior to our tour, we visited the wine shop which was a good idea for our tasting as they close while we'd be on our tour. We tasted 3 of their wines, and they were all so delicious. Barone Ricasole was where Chianti Classico was invented and it is oh-so-good! I wanted to buy bottles to bring home but learned I could get them locally so no need to take up valuable luggage space. The tour guide was so informative and you can tell how much she loves the history of the place. There is only the baron who lives here now, his daughter visits, and the housekeeper. Apparently the original Baron haunts the joint but we didn't want to stick around to find out! Definitely recommended and to make reservations in advance. read more
