Barrow Park has just been name the best park in the North West, and its not surprising. The park includes a small lake which is home to many ducks, geese and swans. There are also rowing boats and pedal boats for hire.
There is a newly built concrete skate park which is well used all day. And a children's play area with a rip slide, swings, large rope climbing frame, and a climbing frame/slide combo. Next to the childrens play area is a 9 hole putting green and a small cafe selling drinks, snacks and ice cream.
For adults there is a bowling green and a greenhouse full of seasonal flowers.
The park is also home to the town cenotaph and from the top of the hill with the cenotaph is a good view across the town.
The grass is always trimmed, and the flower beds well planted, making the walk around the park very enjoyable.
The park also hosts the fair after the yearly carnival, and the family fun day which is sponsored by the Evening Mail. read more
