I hired Mark to help clean up some work left behind by a previous accountant. Unfortunately, the experience ended up being just as disappointing--if not worse. During what was supposed to be an active and ongoing engagement, Mark became completely unresponsive. This was especially concerning given that he had access to both my personal financial information and business accounts. There were no status updates, no clear next steps, and no transparency around the progress of the work. After months of emailing and calling Mark with no response, I asked my husband to reach out. He finally made contact with Mark and he acknowledged that he was overwhelmed and had not been handling things professionally after being completely unresponsive for months. When it comes to something as important and sensitive as personal and business accounting, communication and reliability are essential. Unfortunately, this experience lacked both.
