On 12/19/2024, around 8 PM, my friends and I began our 45-minute wait, excited to enjoy the food and drinks Bartaco is known for; that changed fairly quickly. While waiting, a friend and I decided to grab a drink at the bar. After waiting for 15 minutes to be attended to, I--22 years old with a valid license--was told by the bartender, "I cannot accept this," regarding my very real ID. Another member of our party experienced a similar issue, but when she asked to speak with a manager, her ID was approved. I then approached the manager myself, explaining the situation and showing him a photo of my passport for additional verification. His response was shockingly rude. He dismissed my ID as "sketchy" and claimed it "raises a lot of red flags." When I offered to show my passport photo as further proof, he curtly replied, "I have the right to refuse you, and that is EXACTLY what I am doing," in the most condescending tone imaginable. I am generally easygoing and avoid conflict, but this behavior was completely uncalled for. Finally made it out to Bartaco last night after hearing my friends rave about this place for months. They do not take reservations which sucks but you can be added to the waitlist in advance of arriving. We ended up having to wait about an hour to be seated on a busy Saturday night. I ordered the fish taco, ancho-braised beef taco and the corn (off the cob). Everything tasted super great and I especially loved the corn. But I'm assuming it was the floor manager (white older man not in uniform) he kept circling around our table and standing leaning on the back of our booth which made it very uncomfortable. I also requested a margarita with vodka which I do every time. He marched over said let me see your phone which was very uncomfortable to begin with and told me I need to do a bunch of other steps if I want to order a drink. Prior to him coming over the table he canceled my original drink order 10 minutes after I ordered it and made me re-order it putting me at the bottom of the list and I needed to wait another 15 minutes for my drink to arrive. Bartaco is a must try and a complete gem. On the water, it offers indoor and outdoor seating and a large bar area. They don't take reservations so you'll need to call about an hour before you arrive to get put on the waitlist. We came on a Saturday at 5pm and it was fully packed but we didn't have to wait since we phoned ahead. Everything I had (oyster taco, ceviche and ribeye taco) was delicious. This is my fourth time visiting this location and I keep coming back for a good reason. Before Bartaco, I never really gave tacos a chance, but this restaurant really changed my perspective on going out to get tacos as a meal. The tacos are small and may be considered unconventional, but I really enjoy the taste of the different ones that they have to offer. The restaurant has a huge parking lot near it that has free parking. It also offers indoor seating, outdoor seating with heating lamps that overlook a small body of water, and an indoor bar area. When I entered the restaurant, there was a DJ that was playing music. It was a bit noisy, but that is to be expected near the bar area. When I arrived late on Friday night, there was no line, so we were able to be seated right away. Bartaco has gotten rid of the old style of ordering which was done by marking your order on a checklist with a pencil. Now, you simply scan the QR code that is on the table, enter your phone number, and then type in a credit card number to open a tab. From your phone, you can place your order at your leisure and your order is brought out by the servers as the food is ready. To drink, we ordered the limeade, a caipirinha, and a pomegranate limonada. The limeade was decent, although I wish there was a slice of lime in there instead of a slice of lemon. The caipirinha was nothing special, but it was decent. The pomegranate limonada was a pretty creative idea, but it was a bit over sweet. If the sweetness was toned down a bit, it would have been a pretty good non-alcoholic drink. For starters, we ordered the sweet plantains, the tuna poké, and the street corn. The sweet plantains were really good. They were soft, but not mushy. They were the perfect amount of sweetness, as well. The plantains come with a side of green sauce, but I personally think that the plantains are pretty good without the sauce and you do not really need it. The tuna poké is an appetizer that should be skipped. The tuna poké comes with a side of toasted tortillas. The toasted tortillas have a hint of saltiness to the them. The tuna itself is pretty good and flavorful and are covered in toasted sesame seeds. In the small bowl, there are also bits of avocado and cucumber slices. The small dish is great with the avocado, but would be much better without the cucumber because the cucumbers do not add to the dish. I think there is a lot of potential with this dish if there was rice in the bowl, like a traditional poké bowl. The other starter that we ordered was the street corn. The street corn is my favorite of the three starters that we ordered. The cheese, in combination with the corn, combines nicely with the spice that is added onto the corn. There is a hint of spice to the corn, but it is tolerable and flavorful. When it comes to the tacos, there are plenty of options. Since the tacos are pretty small, I like to order a bunch of tacos so that I have options while I eat. The tacos that we ordered were the Roasted Duck, Spiced Chicken Verde, Crispy Oyster, Chile-Lime Shrimp, and the Glazed Pork Belly. All of the tacos were pretty good and flavorful, but my personal recommendations would be to get the Glazed Pork Belly, Roasted Duck, and the Chile-Lime Shrimp. Overall, a meal for two people here can run about $100 or less. My bill came out to about $87 before tip. Bartaco will always be one of my go-to dining out options because it is convenient to go to and I know that the food will not disappoint. Bartaco gets my stamp of approval. read more

My first time here and I was overall happy with my visit. Bar taco is located in a really nice area with a nice ocean front view. The host told us the wait was an hour or less but it turned out to be 15 mins which was even better for us. Our waitress was pretty helpful. The tacos are small here so we were told one person would eat 3-4 tacos each which was true. I will review and rate each item we had tried: - Plantains: These were basically sweet plantains with their special white sauce. I'd give these 2 out of 5 stars overall because sweet plantains are whatever to me and the only thing that kept this alive was the sauce. - Chicken Empanadas: These came only with two empanadas. It was chicken with potatoes on the inside with a side of salsa verde. Honestly, for the price, these were ok. Super mediocre. I would give these 3 out of 5 stars. It wasn't as crunchy as I had expected but the flavors were good. - Crispy Rock Shrimp Tacos: These were the biggest disappointment because it just tasted like a couple of popcorn shrimp thrown in a soft taco shell with cabbage. It could use more flavor I would give this a 1 out of 5 starts and i would order this one upon my next visit. - Carne Asada Tacos: These were pretty good. Flavorful but the steak was cooked too much well done where the juices had evaporated from the taco. I would give this one a 3 out of 5 stars. - Glazed Pork Belly Tacos: These right here are the show stopped. It's contains enough fat where the flavors were overflowing in the taco. The pork was cooked to a crisp in a sweet sauce. Loved it, 6 out of 5 if it were possible. I do highly recommend this one. - Roasted Duck Taco: Duck has a certain taste to it. But I had really enjoyed this one. It has an Asian infused taste to it and it has a sweetness that reminds me of Hoison sauce. It was super tender and I do highly recommend this one as well. 5 stars. - Pork Belly rice bowl: Only order if you are super hungry and want to overdose on the pork belly. It's basically a smaller version of a bowl from Chipotle but it has fresh veggies like green peppers. It would've been at least a 30 minute wait for a table, so we decided to sit at the bar instead. The bar was packed, so understandably service was a little slow and we didn't mind waiting. However, they forgot my friend's order of cauliflower tacos. We were seeing a concert nearby and didn't have time to wait for them to be made (we had already waited a while for the other food to be brought out). It was odd that the kitchen missed their order because they have each party check off what they want on an ordering sheet. They took them off the bill, but it was still less than ideal. Back to the food - I tried the duck taco, fish taco, and poke bowl. The poke bowl is on the lighter side; it isn't served over rice like most poke bowls. Instead, it's a simple dish that comes with tuna, diced avocado, scallions, and cucumber. It was a delicious appetizer! The tacos hit the spot too, but I have to say the duck taco was my favorite. The first time I ever tried Bartaco was while I was on a business trip in Nashville. I mistakenly thought that it only existed there so you can only imagine the joy I felt when I found out that there was one in Westchester not too far from me! Bartaco is a place that brings me joy, there's no other way to describe it. Perfect for date night, hanging out with friends, celebrations, or whatever else your heart desires. The most important thing is that you will not be let down. Yes, sometimes the food takes longer to come out than at other times but the staff is always super friendly and all you have to do is ask for an update if you want. I'm usually just happy chatting and enjoying one of their many awesome drinks with whomever I'm with before the food comes out. At this point I'd like to say that I've tried everything one the menu but I always end up going back to my favorites. To start, guacamole and chips and as my "main" my top three tacos are the baja fish, crispy oyster and the glazed pork belly. It's easy to lose count of how many you've had, one because of how good they are but two, because of how dangerously easy they make it to order for yourself or for your party (scan the QR code and order away, no judging). I was initially worried about the parking, but there is plenty of parking in the back. The staff is super warm and genuinely care about your experience. I tried the mushroom, chorizo, and Korean beef tacos. All of them were excellent. The Korean kimchi tacos impressed me the most. The kimchi and sesame flavors complimented the tender beef wonderfully. The drinks were also wonderful. Bartaco is renowned for their margaritas and sangria. I liked how you ordered food through your phone so paying was easy and you don't have to worry about splitting any bills! I think the tastiest thing that I ate was the street corn off the cob. Had a great experience here. My waiter Felix was amazing and made my family's experience here very enjoyable. We had chicken, portobello, duck, steak and swordfish tacos. They were all so yummy. Our waiter was extremely attentive and helpful with our order. He was able to answer all of our questions. We sat outside - the outside patio was open and was a little crowded. Portions decreased, prices increased. I've been coming here since it literally first opened. The past few times has been a complete disappointment, which I'm upset about because this used to be my go-to place in the area. Food is decent but the biggest thing is portions have decreased. Literally everything: guac, street corn, tacos, bowls. The guac doesn't even taste as fresh as it used to. I noticed their tacos are skimpy on the meat but generous on the garnishes. Service is fine. Their outdoor space is super nice, sitting right next to the water. This is a great place to meet with friends as the aesthetic and vibes are right on point. Everything is reasonably priced. If you're unsure what tacos to get, the baja fish is a must! My waitress (who was great also) mentioned that it is battered in rice flour making it gluten free (I'd double check before ordering to be sure, but I believe that is what she said). I also had the Chile-lime shrimp which was way spicier than I thought, wouldn't get that again. The plantains also came with this white dip that paired deliciously with them. For my drink, I got the pomegranate limonada which was so refreshing. Overall 10/10. Would recommend to friends. Get the Baja fish taco and the plaintains. read more

We absolutely love Bartaco, but we just didn't necessarily love THIS Bartaco. Came on a sunny summer afternoon and was so excited to sit on the outdoor patio on the water. Had to wait a bit for a table, which was totally fine. We get seated on the patio, but it's at this table that felt like it was meant for children. Really low seats and bench, table that's lower than your knees, impossible to sit comfortably as you have to sit sideways to get close enough to the table. The place was a mad house, there were bachelorette parties getting wasted, and kids running around everywhere. It just wasn't the best atmosphere fit for us. If you have kids, it's probably a great spot for you! The food was good. Probably won't come back to this Bartaco despite it being one of the only "local" ones to us. read more
