I don't know how they were able to climb as high as they did... it's clear this is a specialized craft. They were very careful about lowering the branches after cutting them. It was a long day but they finished the job, not leaving until the last branch was chipped and loaded into the truck. Matt also injected the remaining, mostly healthy ash tree -- we're hoping it can be saved. I was happy to see many dead emerald ash borers had fallen out of the tree for several days afterward. They are by far, the best tree service in our area. They were recommended by our cousin. I was terrified since the tree was so tall and close to the house. From the moment I requested a quote I was impressed With Barts Tree Service. I received an immediate response- which is rare these days and the customer service never stopped. We settled on a price - which was competitive and very reasonable. They showed up when they said they would and Matt the owner came to finalize any changes and check on any questions. This company took down a few trees for my next door neighbor on 8-26-2020 in Redding, CT 06896. They dropped two very large trees (without pruning or limbing them) onto my property at in Redding, CT 06896 by accident (they were supposed to drop them in the other direction) and destroyed two other very large trees on my property leaving much damage including two very large widow makers where my kids play. They came out and said they would rectify the issue, confirmed that it was their fault and mistake, and stated they would be back in a few days to clean up and remove the trees that they dropped as well as the damaged trees, many weeks later, they have not returned calls, emails or rectified the issue. My neighbors and I have attempted to contact them numerous times with no response. I called their insurance that is listed on their website, they do not currently have an active policy per the listed insurance provider. read more

After reading the reviews of Bart's Tree Service, I called them and another tree service I used in the past. Matt called first. We agreed Matt's team would remove a huge, fallen black cherry bough and remove an ash tree. Matt's team was polite and amazingly fast. BUT, they did not "remove" the tree; they chopped the tree down and left the bottom/stump. The previous tree service removed the entire tree; Bart's did not. So: Matt and team are great but get Matt to define what he means by "tree removal" before you agree to service. read more

I went to their website and used their online form to request a quote around 8/13 after the remnants of Hurricane Isaias left several trees down including one on the roof of my house and crushing a vehicle in my driveway. After no response for a few days, I called and left a message that if they were still interested in quoting the work, let me know as I had already had a few other companies come by. Still no response. After choosing another company, I called again as a courtesy to let them know I had contracted with someone else and would not need their service. That's why I was completely surprised to receive an email on 9/1 with a quote for the work. Not only was the quote detailed, noting the species of trees to be removed, but it included a satellite view of my property, which I found a bit creepy. Worse yet, I was concerned that someone had been wandering around my property without my knowledge or permission. I called and left a message (third time calling, three voicemails) referencing the quote number. I received a call back the next day, 9/4 from a person who I believe is the owner. I asked about why he would come out to survey for a quote without coming to the door to announce his presence on my property. He said rather curtly that they don't come to the door anymore, a likely reference to COVID concerns. I asked why he didn't at least call me and he became quite rude and belligerent, complaining about how in the middle of an emergency (it was a month ago now) he's still getting 75 emails a day and they've only just cleared emergency removals and getting to more routine work (I don't remember his exact phrasing, but I really don't see a tree on my roof and on my vehicle in the driveway as routine.) I expressed that I was not pleased that he had come onto my property unannounced, and he claimed that he had not even come in the driveway and viewed things from the street. Since you cannot see into my backyard where the "two small maple trees that were crushed" (the wording in the quote) from the street a couple hundred feet away and behind my house, I knew he was not being truthful. I told him I felt that he had trespassed by not contacting me in advance and advised him that I had security cameras which would dispute his account. He only became more rude and hung up on me while I was still speaking. I'm guessing that to be in business as long as they have with all the glowing reviews on their website, they must do some things well, but my experience with this company and the owner's attitude on phone and dishonest defense of his actions ensures that I would never do business with them. read more

Excellent job from quote to clean-up! We decided on Matt (Bart's Tree Service) after getting quotes from several different services (most deliver firewood in the area or did tree work for neighbors). Matt gave us the options we wanted (removing the brush, but leaving the tree cut up on site, since we burn wood for heat), had confidence in doing the job (tree was a large oak hanging over the house, inaccessible by bucket truck) and gave us a competitive quote. One tree service was nearly double the price and another simply refused to do the job. Matt was easily reachable by phone and email and scheduled the job around the snowy weather and dealt with difficulties on our property (cars in driveway, hard to get to area where the base of the tree was). I am very pleased with the efficient and professional work performed by Matt and his servicemen. I needed a variety of work, from pruning to removal throughout the property.
