There is a traditional front bar which opens up to a beer garden and bistro at the back, a nice place away from the busyness of the street and ideal for unwinding on a weekend afternoon or summer evening. Well that was the idea. The menu sounds impressive but the food is ordinary and tasteless. Not such a good sign when competing with the hundreds of restaurants and pubs in the vicinity of King Street and Enmore Road. I had the pork belly which was tough, the Asian vegetables were limp and the rice was cold. Topping it all off, the portions were small and it was overpriced. Funny thing was that the beer tasted wrong. When you drink the same beer all the time, it's easy to taste when there is something not quite right with it, and easy to see when it's a bit flat. We took beers back to the bar to get new ones and changed glasses, but it still tasted off. The manager was rude and told my friends and I that we should go to another pub. Which we promptly did and have not been back. The beer garden wasn't that full, no wonder.

A la carte will get you more food for the same amount of money, with a better variety of dishes. Service here is generally quite friendly, although the last time I came there was a minor hiccup with our bill. When I went to the front counter to pay, I pointed out to the owner that one of the dishes we'd ordered hadn't been served to us, and I requested that he remove it from the bill. He checked my story with our waitress, who insisted (rather aggressively, I thought) that she had brought the dish out. After the waitress was out of earshot, the owner told me he was 'in an uncomfortable situation' because the waitress (note: I call her a waitress because she served us our food, but she could have been a manager or co-owner) had 'been working at the restaurant for 20 years' and 'wouldn't lie'. I maintained that I wasn't lying either. To his credit, he accepted my story and removed the item from our bill.
