Zero stars I don't want to give one but I have too....the manger excuse me the security guy who acts like he is the manager. Throws out my friend because a third party says something and just assume it is true. Then tells me he doesn't need my business. Seems like it could be a nice local spot. But me as the individual that didn't do anything according to an unnamed person got kicked out cause I walked out the door an tried to figure out what was going on. Then When I came in trying to close my tab and use the restroom was told I couldn't come back in. ATTENTION: RACIST BOUNCER! Visited this place for the first time tonight to grab a single drink with some coworkers. The bartender serving us was also a coworker of ours from a different bar he worked at, knowing for a fact that I was of legal age. Shortly after my beer was poured, a bald-headed bouncer interrupts before anyone else could order and asks to see identification, which was understandable. Keep in mind I recently turned 21 and had to renew my license today considering some places would not serve me with a vertical id card, so I presented the paper copy of my new horizontal id card because I would not be receiving the physical copy for another fifteen days in the mail. Without even checking my birthday, the bouncer disrespectfully declined me and seemed to almost want to rip my identification in half as if it were something fake. I did not get a clear answer as to why my license was not valid since my original license (vertical) was hole punched when renewed, meaning it could no longer be used anyways. If my original license didn't work nor the official paper copy of my new license, did I have no form of identification if a police officer were to pull me over? A paper copy is very well accepted and I knew because my girlfriend used to use her's at bars we would go out to in downtown Chicago. I know it had to do with my race for I was the only minority and nobody else in my group was carded. No exaggeration, ended up kicking me out because I questioned his authority and simply asked why he didn't even bother to look at it all because it was paper. Unnecessary and unprofessional reason to kick a person out of a bar. I was forcefully grabbed by the arm for no reason when he could have just directed me to the door! Don't go there late like around 12 on weekend. The will have band and instead of letting your 12 people in to buy a bunch of drinks they will demand full cover for the 4 songs left. As a matter of fact if you are pissed at that might as well not go at all since customer service was same status as screwing you at door. read more

Well, over the last month and half Base Camp has listened and has done a lot of work to address concerns. Prices have come down across the board, and without shrinking the portions either. There are more specials during the week to entice people to come in. ( I believe half off food for resident on Mondays etc) And, it looks like they're taking suggestions on what craft beer to bring in house now as well. I know there are still people who aren't over the "half off sunday" at the old Lodge, but while I benefited greatly from that over the years..let's not kid ourselves, that place should have been fire-bombed every Sunday night. It looks like things are moving in the right direction so I'd suggest to all those who went in the early days to give it another shot. read more

Went here on a Friday night...music was supposed to start at 9 PM it's after 10pm and no one is on the stage.... bartender apologizes because he knows that we are waiting to listen to the music offers to buy us a drink....we turn him down because that's not what we are about. Band does not even start testing until after 10:30..... So, I went to BaseCamp's Karaoke Battle last night and I just want to preface this review by saying that I looked forward to this event for well over a month. I was furious about how it all played out. First, for instance, the event was advertised to begin at 7pm and end at 11pm. It started after 8pm and who knows when it actually ended because I got mad about how much time I wasted waiting for the BaseCamp "secret judges" to finish their deliberation at about 11:45pm. Second, this round of the competition was not conducted fairly at all. People got to sing tons of songs each, instead of just being judged on one song per person. I understand that it's a karaoke event and we all just wanted the opportunity to sing, but it should have been done with the understanding that only the first song would be entered and judged in the competition. And lastly, judges, I know your job is tough, but that's kind of the whole point of a competition. If you're unable to make a decision about someone after multiple performances, that's on you, not the performers. Extremely disappointing. I will not be coming back to BaseCamp again...On the upside, our waitress was amazing and could sing like no other! SHE should have been the judge. I don't know what the results were, so I'm not upset that I didn't win because I don't actually know who won. I'm upset that the event was run so incredibly poorly. read more

This could be the worst place for food & drink in the area. The sad thing is I am a resident & will no longer even bother to walk over for a meal or few drinks anymore. The service & quality have been questionable since I started going to this "new establishment" in the last few months. This is definitely not the old Four Lakes Pub that was always packed back in the day. My review is by no means a comparison to the old establishment as it's been too many years. One night I was there they lost some guys credit card...I've never seen a situation handled so poorly. This could be a page story on its own. The last three times I have been there it's been nothing but a hassle. Without boring anyone, they either pay no attention to their customers or when there is a band they tell you at the front if you're not paying & part of the "party" you'll have to go to the bar to purchase your drinks. Normally I would be fine with this but the "bar" isn't even open with Covid which is weird as other places have figured out a safe way. Now let's be clear, this place is never really busy so for some women I have never seen before telling me this as I tried to walk through the front door seemed crazy. I've dealt with the manager before personally & she can do a good job as a server but she better work on her management skills. These people better figure things out quick...if you can't even get your residents to frequent your establishment you're really in trouble. read more

I ordered a chicken philly and a pulled pork sandwich and I requested no coleslaw since I really dislike coleslaw but when I got the sandwich it had coleslaw slapped all over it. Had to remove over half of the meat from the sandwich. I also asked for 1000 island for my salad dressing and they gave me ranch? I called the restaurant and they carried 1000 island. Bottom line, the order was not looked over by our DoorDash delivery person. Disappointing especially since it was not cheap food. They didn't follow simple instructions and I got luke warm food at best. Don't bother ordering if you have any special requests. I used to deliver for Postmates in the LA area and I know what it takes to be the delivery person. DoorDash my advice to you is maybe offer some kind of training program a web video or something that shows your driver how to properly take care of your customer. I can not use this service again. I work too hard for my money to just give out 20% of an undeserved tip because I have to tip in advance. Delivery drivers can't assume all responsibility for a company's lack of effort. Just saw Nathaniel Rateliff there last night and "a full house" doesn't begin to describe the scene but the staff was amazing! We returned here on Sunday and had a much better experience! Our waiter was friendly and attentive. He recommended the 12 ap special and we decided to go with that. It wasn't super busy but the food was well worth what we paid for it. Overall the experience was better because the service was better. We will definitely come back and support our local business! Me and my girlfriend were here last night for the Badflower show, it was the best! Great atmosphere great workers attentive to all customers, I never waited more then a minute to get a drink even though it was packed. I ordered the ultimate cheeseburger, it was so good I ordered one to go lol and my girlfriend had the Mac n cheese with bacon, it too was amazing, the staff was walking around asking all if they needed anything. This bar was amazing, I do have to agree there security seems to idk how do I say it..... stereotype, it was just the looks from the bald biker looking dude lol but all well just a look lmao other then that this was a great night!!! read more

Have been to Basecamp a few times lately, was there last night 11/7 to see one of my fav bands play!! What a difference from when they first opened, had the loaded tater tots and a burger was really good!!! It got really crowded and I never waited long to get a drink from either bar!! Much better service, better food, and better management. I think some of the bad reviews are from residents who aren't getting things either their way or for free anymore. I frequent the area and am a fan of BaseCamp. Food is delicious. Service is great. I enjoy the pizza. Collin is a great bartender/server there. He recognizes and acknowledges me every time I come in there and I think that's nice. Base Camp is much better than the Lodge. The games are always on too - which is cool! read more

Service is very hit or miss. There's a guy who bartends there who is very friendly and attentive, but there is a girl who works there who is very nice but not at all attentive. Last weekend I waited so long to order a second drink that I was actually considering just leaving and reporting my credit card lost so I didn't have to deal with getting it back. When she finally came over, I just closed out and left. It's unfortunate since the bar is nice, prices reasonable, and the location killer for those of us who live in Four Lakes. 2 stars since you either like this place or not...no in the middle. I've lived here for over 20 years and avoided the old pub and figured this place wouldn't of changed much. I ordered the burger with goat cheese.....tasted like nothing....fries sucked. My girlfriend ordered the chicken sandwich dipped in waffle batter....lol....what a joke....they really jazzed up the description to make this thing sound like worth trying but I swear to you it had less chicken in it than a $1.00 Mcchicken sandwich from mcdonalds....and had no flavor....it is was just greasy.....sweet potatoe crumbs were.........not good. I had the Classic burger, which was cooked just like I like my burgers, medium rare, My S-O had the Italian beef, which she said was perfect, as well as a Snickertini, which she pronounced as Excellent. We live in the four lakes area and have only been to this bar twice. However, we have decided to take our business elsewhere after this experience. First off, we were overcharged for drinks and they couldn't refund us, which was disappointing (I mean why offer specials if you cannot honor the pricing). Secondly, this place was super ghetto and gross with some of the patrons (all were regulars) discussing drugs or clearly drunk out of their minds on a Sunday afternoon. On top of that, there was a lady with her annoying pomerian walking around the bar without a leash on the pet and outside --wtf?! I love dogs and had mine and my parent's dog (doesn't like other dogs), but that dog was annoying as hell. The owner was not paying attention to it even though it was randomly going to every table. I love my dog and am obsessed with him, but I am cautious of who he associates himself with because I don't want him to get mauled or kidnapped. These pet owners are irresponsible and insensitive to the fact their dog is randomly bothering other patrons. I don't care if your dog is polite, mine is too but I am not going to subject him to strangers unattended considering not everyone likes pets. Literally, the worst restaurant that I have ever been to. First, let me just say that it was crowded because it was MLK day so kids were off school and everyone wanted to hit the slopes. Having said that, it is still the worst place I have ever been. It is so dirty. Our table still had food on it and no one ever came to clean it up. We waited over 20 minutes for our waitress to come but she never came. We finally had to go to the bar and ask for someone to take our order. We ordered 2 waters and a cheeseburger. It took over 20 minutes to get our water. Our cheeseburger took almost an hour....and it was gross. Our waitress never came back to check on us. When the kids were done snowboarding, they wanted hot chocolate. We had to chase the waitress down at the register just to order 6 hot chocolates. She rudely said "in a minute" and then took 18 minutes to come to our table. I know because I timed it on my phone. No worries though because when finally it was time to pay, the waitress came to our table in 2 seconds flat. I will never go here again. The management and ownership should be ashamed of themselves. Mark my words - someone will get food poisoning at this place. Your standards for cleanliness and food prep are bordering on illegal. read more

I went in to see a band play and get some drinks with some friends on 12/20 and we had a good time but the service was really slow. The staff did a good job it seemed like with what they had to work with, they were friendly and worked fast but they were so understaffed they just couldn't keep up with the demand. The blonde bartender was extremely nice and always had a smile on even though you could tell she was working extremely hard with how busy it was. This place is awesome! Been there for the past few weekends to see some of the bands there and service was amazing! There Kodiak burger was so delicious and drinks kept coming without having to wait! Even last night watching the band Hairbanger's Ball my foot was sore from something earlier in the day and when I asked if there was any open seating the manager got me a stool to sit down so I can enjoy the band! This place has improved so much since they reopened as Basecamp and will definitely come back more!! Great job!! read more

I haven't been here in a while so me and few friends decided to stop in last Saturday night. They had a pretty good band, and I've heard their entertainment has been getting better. The only reason I wouldn't give them a full 5 stars is because of their brunette bartender who only pays attention to the guys trying to get a drink. Any of my girlfriends (or just about any other girl at the bar) had to either wait for all the guys to be served first, or find another bartender. Besides that the night was fun, and I'd definitely go back. Maybe bring a guy or two to get served quicker or just avoid that chicks side of the bar all together...definitely recommend going though! Extremely slow service. That was odd since there was, at most, 26 customers in the place, It took forever to get a drink, the pizza was burnt and we were told "that's just the way we make it" and in addition to being burnt the crust was oddly chewy, so it was like chewing on wet, burnt cardboard. Another odd thing was that the cheese was not fully melted. They must have cranked up the oven to accomplished the burn and under-cooked combination. It was so hot and humid up by the band that we moved back by the fireplace where the air was working. Both at that table and the other one, he had to instruct the servers to clear the tables of used plates. At one point my drink was taken when we asked for "only the trash" to be taken. I told the server and he denied taking it, yet he was the one who cleared it. I had to go up to the bar and tell the bartender/manager who gave me another one after I was quizzed on how much of it I had left. When taking the orders, they asked us if we wanted separate bills, we told them we did. There was 8 of us. 2 had gotten there earlier and eaten before we did. So there were 6 of us who ordered food at the same time. 4 were on one bill and 2 on another. When we got the bill, they had added all 6 of us on one and added a 18% gratuity. We had to split the bill up. They cheated themselves out of some money, because we usually tip at least 20%. I had not been to this place in about 4 years and I used to come back when we called it the Lodge and back when we called it the Pub. Honestly, outside of taking down the top part of the partitioning wall, I don't think they have done anything to the inside. It's the same old sticky floor, same paint everywhere and there is a musty smell. The wait staff was all very nice, but so slow and kind of spacey. It seems the people sitting at the bar received the service and the rest of us were remembered occasionally. It took 15 minutes to get a simple drink, and as I said, there weren't that many people in the place. It looked like there was 5 or 6 front of the house employees, so the slowness was not due to a lack of hands. read more
