When a Manager Becomes the Reason to Leave a Restaurant!…read more Our visit to Sunny Side Up was unfortunately one of the most unpleasant restaurant experiences we have had in a long time. We stopped by for breakfast before leaving Frankfurt and had already placed our order. I was carrying a paper bag containing a muffin from another shop. The muffin remained in the bag under the table the entire time. I neither ate it nor took it out of the bag. A young man who introduced himself as the manager then approached our table. Instead of addressing the situation politely, professionally, and discreetly, he loudly confronted me in front of other guests in an inappropriate manner. His attitude was aggressive, condescending, and disrespectful. Of course, a restaurant has every right to set rules regarding outside food. No one was questioning that. What was completely unacceptable, however, was the way he chose to treat paying customers. When I explained that I was not eating the muffin and expressed my concern about his behavior, he showed no interest whatsoever in resolving the situation constructively. On the contrary, when I said that we would rather leave under those circumstances, he essentially told us to go ahead. So we left the restaurant, leaving our already served coffee behind. In my opinion, anyone who treats guests in this manner is not suited for a customer-facing role, let alone a management position. Hospitality is not merely about enforcing rules; it is about treating people with respect, tact, and basic decency. His behavior reflected the exact opposite. What I find particularly troubling is that this kind of conduct increasingly seems to be regarded as normal. It feels like a reflection of a broader societal decline in courtesy, respect, and common decency. This is simply not how customers should be treated. The name "Sunny Side Up" appears to aim for an American-style breakfast culture built on friendliness, openness, and good service. Unfortunately, it remains little more than a façade. While the restaurant attempts to imitate an American concept, it fails at the very thing that defines it: friendly, professional, customer-oriented service! We left the restaurant disappointed and upset. Based on this experience, we will not be returning and unfortunately cannot recommend Sunny Side Up.

A lot of good memories at Korova. While I was studying abroad at WHU nearby, this was the place for…read morestudents to hang out. In the morning Korova operates as an espresso bar that also serves bagel sandwiches. The bagels were cheap (2-3 euro) and you could toast them yourself with the toaster oven nearby. My favorite was the caprese bagel, but they also had one with ham and another with lox. During the night Korova becomes the bar of choice for the students. In the back there is an area where soccer games are projected against the wall (these nights can get very packed). Seating is a bit limited throughout the place, and even the standing room can get packed on a lot of nights. The bar is owned by ex students, and as a result, Korova caters to the kids at WHU. On some nights there will be a random very cheap drink which encourages people to frequent the bar. The exchange students were also allowed to throw fundraisers inside on certain nights. Anybody who attends WHU will know about this place, but unfortunately its a bit out of the way for anyone passing through Germany, or even nearby Koblenz, to make the stop. All I can say as a word of advice to anyone travelling to WHU: make this a part of as many nights as possible, especially the soccer games if you're a fan

Service really was that painfully slow that they lost two stars right there. One further star disappeared due to the poor quality of the coffee. What a poor Latte. I can get better in some large German enterprise cafeterias. If you have a cafe, at least get this right. Very skipable.

Both times I have had a sesame bagel, although with different toppings. The first time I had some smoked salmon on it and this last time I ordered it with turkey breast. Both were just incredible. And the portions are perfect size for brunch. The space is large and offers multiple outdoor seating areas as well as extensive indoor seating. There is clearly not enough wait staff for the customers, but the ones they do have are surprisingly very good and efficient. If you have a semi-large group, make sure to call ahead and reserve a place!

There is a separate brunch menu which has 12 meal options on the front and al la carte on the back. The hot drinks are listed in their standard Mon-Sat menu. I had the number 5 breakfast burger which was quite filling and an excellent value. I was curious how good the sesame bagel would be. It was delicious! Others order the number four which had even more food. Overall, there's a strong local vibe and a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
