This cathedral was consecrated in 1077. It was heavily rebuilt following a fire in the 12th…read morecentury. Norman Romansque and Gorhic architecture are reflected in its construction.
Admission is free althogh information about guided routers can be found at the tourist office of Bayeaux.
There is a crypt to see.
As Normady was miracously spared during World War II bombings, the church and the town have been well preserved.
Outside of the cathedrale part of an ancient Roman wall can be seen. There is also the Libery tree planted in 1797 as a symbol of the French Revolution ideals. The tree still stands.
Allow at least an hour inside then explore the medieval town and history of Bayeaux.
