They have both gone downhill and are failing classes here due to burnout from the overwhelming amount of homework given daily (and over weekends) and also the bullying going on here has gotten out of control. I know it's everywhere but I thought it would be better here where it's smaller. It did start out better but over the years, unfortunately, they don't do anything about it and all the good kids leave and all the bullies stay. Horrible experience with special Ed here. They were fake and trying to convince me that they cared dearly about my child and wanted what was in his best interest. Believing they were only trying to help him I agreed to everything they recommended which isolated him from friends and made his depression and anxiety worse. Believing they were on his side I made him stay longer making him endure even more harassment by staff as well as bullying by students. When he told staff about students harassing him he was ignored. When I brought it up I was told he was lying and making it up (NOT oh, we will look into it). When I told them he felt targeted by staff they said he's delusional. The staff would unnecessarily escalate him to create a situation or excuse to send him home every day so they wouldn't have to deal with him. (When over stimulated he would put his head down on the table and practice what his therapist taught him & the staff would touch him and shake his shoulder which we discussed in meetings not to do because it made things worse) They would call me at work and exaggerate what happened so I would come pick him up immediately, such as telling me he barricaded himself into a classroom and they were going to call the cops on him when it turns out he actually was standing outside the special Ed classroom door wanting to come in and they where standing on the other side not letting him open the door (his IEP stated he was able to leave regular class if he got overwhelmed and go to special ed room to reset). Or telling me he has stabbed himself with a pencil and is at the nurses station when he actually scratched his hand with a broken pencil during an anxiety attack because they wouldn't give him a break or stop touching him and they were purposely escalating it. Then they played dumb and said they didn't realize he was having anxiety attacks and thought he was just being disobedient and not following directions. Which I believed until they kept doing the same things over again the following week after having a meeting about it. When I questioned them for escalating him to the point of self harm and not giving him a break (which is in his IEP). They don't answer but redirect me to look at his pattern of behaviors (behaviors that only happen at school and not at home, behaviors caused by them escalating situations when he is having anxiety attacks). They want all of their students to fit into their perfect little box and my son doesn't fit, he requires a lot of extra patience. During one of my meetings with faculty, Mrs Audello (the principal) had the audacity to compare my son to a mass school shooter and said that's why they need to keep suspending him and do investigations before he can return (he has never made any threats towards the school or brought anything inappropriate to school and they search his backpack every morning when he arrives at school) I am happy to report I have pulled both of my kids out of GHLO and they are now both homeschooled online through Acellus Academy. My special ed son has done a complete 180, they both have all A's as well as my son has not been hospitalized for depression since leaving that school, he does go at a slower pace than my daughter who finishes her classes early in the school year as my son usually keeps working on school all through the summer.

I have heard great things from other parents about Great Hearts schools and wanted to find out for…read moremyself. We applied this year and were fortunate to have been drafted through lottery. My daughter loved her old school and was quite disappointed when we told her that she was going to a new school. However, after 4 months, she has acclimated well and have nothing but good things to say about her teachers and classmates. She finds the work challenging and exciting. The school has taught her and our family a new way to approach reading. They teach Latin and have poetry wars. They also have an after school program that is an extension to their education and not just babysitting. The after school teachers help with homework and pick up is until 6 pm. They also have after school clubs with nominal charge. What is most important to my family was the school's faculty and their program for kids with special needs. My son was diagnosed with a rare disorder in October, that affected him neurologically. Some of the staff from school and after school program visited him, including Mr. Brogran (assistant headmaster). We love his teacher Mrs. Laird. She is a smart, kind, and loving teacher. She visited him in the hospital twice. My son had missed 2 1/2 months of school from being sick. Ms. Ernest (teacher), has been so patient in teaching him at home. She has been an important part of his education. We drive to school at least an hour twice a day, sometimes longer. We decided to move closer to the school since our kids loved being there.

School is trash very poorly funded no sort of accountability from teachers who mark things that are…read morecorrect wrong while grading. They are uneducated and shouldn't have been hired in the first place. Lots of racism but shouldn't the admin and teachers handle it? Short answer they don't. Moving my child out of Idea Judson and into another school was by far the best decision I've made…read more I used to think idea was an amazing school, but with time they prove me wrong. I can say my child goes to a better school now with a stronger curriculum and way better policy when it comes to bullying. I think idea Judson is full of a lot of staff that are more friends than anything so they overlook a lot of things. Overall Idea Judson's communication sucks. They don't intervene or improve things when it comes to bullying. Either their teachers are lazy or their curriculum sucks. Out of experience, there was teachers that did not care to help you help your child improve nor did they stay consistent with school work. Like I said, this place is filled with lots of staff that are friends. Do your kids a favor and put them in a better school that will help them excel academically to prepare them for the future.

Inconsistencies in the information provided to families, despite confirmation through CB transcripts that a weapon and two individuals were part of the initial report. 2. The absence of on-site administration when lockdown was activated 3. Continued student intake during that lockdown 4. No representative at the gate to provide parent updates 5. Weekly holds and lockdowns this entire school year 6. The last 3 years we have worked with staff at building rapport and expectations of proper communication and they still fall short except for the school nurse (Ashley Bentz) who is a superhero in my book. While my husband and I continue to pray for protection over all children and staff, this decision reflects only what we believe is best for our family.

She came up with a solution (after 2 days) that relieved my son's severe anxiety stemming from a trauma that he suffered two months prior, that we had been trying to work through with him since it occurred. This alone has helped our family more than words can say. She has many years of experience teaching young children and is patient enough to figure out what works for our child. Our family is blessed to have her teaching our child. The Owner: Ms. Betty Williams is wonderful. She is extremely knowledgable and is more than willing (happy) to share her knowledge with parents. On several occasions, Ms. Betty has sat patiently with me, with a caring heart, and given me so much amazing parenting advice. I cannot thank her enough for not being rude or judgmental when I came to her for advice. The front office staff: Ms. Natalie & Ms. Alicia are always genuinely friendly and kind any time I speak with them. They both have been very accommodating when I have needed anything. They both truly LOVE the children. Everyone at SACDM does. The staff at this school works as a team. They are a humble group of people whose true passion is the children. They are down to earth and make parents feel comfortable. They all work very diligently in figuring out what works best for each child. The tuition is a bit higher than others, but to us, having the peace of knowing our child is in the best care is worth making other financial sacrifices so that our child can attend this school.

And they always put the children first. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for childcare and afterschool care and summer care, I have children that participates throughout the year, thank you to the staff.
