I have purchased hand packed quarts that were much less than 32 ozs. When I ask them to weigh it they look at me like I'm crazy. So, I brought my own scale. I have just had the most disappointing visit to a 31 flavors Baskin Robins in my life. I ordered a 2 scoop Sunday and received approximately 1 scoop of ice cream, it didn't even fill the cup with the whipped cream on it. None of the staff bothered to wash their hands after handling items and going back to the scoops. The man making my Sunday didn't wash his hands prior to scoping; wear gloves or a hair covering as he leaned in the case to scoop my jamoca almond fudge and mint chip. It was like he was getting a bonus if he could put as little as possible in my cup. The other two gentlemen working in the kitchen were decorating cakes and restocking utensils while ringing up clients and going right back without washing their hands once while I was there. I paid for my ice cream, went home and threw it in the trash. Who ever took over this location needs to educated in food handling as well as portion sizing for Baskin Robins. It wouldn't matter if it was heaping overflowing and perfect if the people making it didn't observe basic hygiene. My wife braver than me decided to eat her Dubai Sunday and informed me that the ice cream had ice crystals in it and the nuts were stale. This was absolutely disappointing. I walked in at 9:00 PM. There were 3 guys behind the register. I stood there waiting to be helped. One guy said to the other guy in Punjabi she's waiting to be helped. The other guy responded back in Punjabi saying she can wait until I finish sweeping. Mind you I was the only customer there and they were speaking that way about me not knowing I was Punjabi. I stood there waiting until I finally spoke up because it didn't appear that they wanted to help. I intentionally spoke in Punjabi and the guy looked shocked. You already know before you walk in that there will be many flavors to choose from and they will all be delicious and they will all be bright, colorful and deciding the right one is half the fun of going there. I will say that we walked in there were three people behind the counter, and it took a while before anybody even recognized this and said hello. When they did help us, it was very quick fast and they moved on almost immediately. Went again tonight just hoping they cleaned up their act reading so many other bad reviews. The floor was filthy. The ice inside where they store the ice cream was all black with dirt. The prepacked ice cream was too soft, almost melted. Nobody greeted us or asked us what we would like, or even looked at us. They were blasting Indian music, which is their right to do, but I've never been to a Basin Robbins that blasted any type of music. I hope they aren't allowed to tamper with the pre-packed quarts, so I guess I'm relegated to buying melted quarts and freezing it at home. I miss the previous owners and the high school/college kids they hired. I totally understand that it's now a family owned place, but it was a much more fun and lively vibe with the prior owners. Now after I get ice cream, I feel so depressed, sad, and dirty. I will not go back and now I'm sad because I love Basin Robbins ice cream. =( read more

BR31! Who does not love ice cream?! My daughter and I venture here usually following a day at the park. The people are really patient and awesome, mostly young and full of energy. The cake decorator and staff does an amazing job taking cake orders as I have yet to be disappointed or receive something other than how I ordered it. The pricing is usual, standard for an ice cream shop. I usually order my daughter the regular scoop since the kid scoop is only a few cents cheaper. The serving portions are generous as well as their topping portions. The parking lot can get hectic and crowded especially in warmer months. Even when it's colder out, the parking lot can be packed due to the other shops that share the space and parking. It's near Del Norte Bart if you feel like a 15-20 minute walk, with a little person I wouldn't recommend. The ice cream is fresh, never frost bitten or tastes sour. There is no indoor seating since the pandemic. The indoor space is small and can get pretty crowded with a few people waiting in line. The noise level is average, not unbearable and definitely not quiet. There is not really any place to sit and enjoy your cone or cup other than your car or its hood. The baker did a great job and also we have had good experiences in the past with them understanding our ask and creating it (the word count is small for details). We wanted a white cake with some pink icing and sprinkles around the bottom creating a base for our 1960s plastic translucent animal figures that came on Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor zoos when we were children (sadly they're gone). They looked perfect all over the cake four grandchild's birthday and it was fun sharing something that was so magical with her. The cake tasted great too! (Oreo ice cream and white cake is a great combo and pleased everyone). So disappointed! Took a mile walk for ice cream and was wishing I had never left the house. It was nice to see other people had the same idea I had; going out for ice cream. I ordered Butter Pecan and got everything but the pecans. We had to ask the man serving us twice to put gloves on. Once he did that I asked to taste a certain flavor. He was going to use the spoon he had been twirling in his hands and touching the counter with. I asked for a different spoon. He didn't seem to mind. I ordered my ice cream. He served my ice cream from a new barrel he had just opened. The only thing is...there were NO pecans in the top of the barrel. I didn't notice until I walked out and ate two bites. I could of walked back and asked to have it changed. I didn't because I felt like I had already asked him twice to put gloves on and once for a new spoon. As a child, I used to call Baskin-Robbins by its selling proposition, "31 Flavors", and force my mom to take me to one of their parlors after my Cub Scouts meetings. There was a bit of a wait outside due to social distancing protocols that restricted maximum number of patrons inside to just 5. I was actually glad to see that one person wasn't having to hold down the entire fort. The first person I talked to referred me to the second. I was in this shop yesterday and wanted to purchase a quart of hand pack with half black walnut and half nutty coconut as that's the combo I like. I was told that I couldn't have 2 flavors in the same quart and would have to buy 2 different quarts. I have bought ice cream from this Baskin Robbins for more years than I can remember. And for over at least 30 years I have bought handpacked and customized the flavors with 2 different flavors as the price of the ice cream is not by flavor, but by weight. Our friend had baked a cake and it was the middle of stone fruit season so I thought Peach Ice Cream! We were down the block and across the street so we moved our car to the street next to Baskin Robbins. Someone had done quite a number to the tree right outsidethe restaurant because it was blocking the sidewalk and we had to walk around it to get inside. There were three customers waiting and two employees serving them. We went over to the display freezers and took a look at the selection. I looked in each freezer twice to make sure that I didn't miss it and then across the front of the scoop freezers to see if they were serving Peach. No such luck. Or at least I didn't see it. The two ladies behind the counter were friendly, quick, efficient and took care to make quality ice cream treats. My son asked for gummy toppings on his ice cream cup and she carefully placed each gummy on the ice cream to make sure they didn't fall off. I ordered two polar pizzas online and picked them up on my way home today. One of the pizzas was the cookie dough ice cream flavor. It looked as though it had melted and been placed back in the freezer. It also was very flat, with not alot of ice cream as shown in the picture, with very little cookie dough and no drizzle. I had no time to return the purchase and my sons birthday was tomorrow, so I now have plans to head to Cold Stone Creamery here in Pinole where I know the quality is always very high.
