Not my favorite location.... this BR has been there forever and I used to love it but compared to other locations they have way less variety and flavors. I also picked up a turtle pie from here last week for a birthday and it was terrible. I did not realize it was made incorrectly... they put a huge layer of whipped cream all over the top and it's just supposed to be a thick caramel layer with a circle of the cream in the center and the oreo crust was dried and crumbly when we cut it. absolute worst turtle pie I have ever bought. Such a disappointment. I'll never get another cake or pie from this location ever again. The gal that made it needs to be retrained to make as per the BR standards. Admittedly, my experience tonight wasn't the best, but it was at no fault of the employees. There were some rude older folks in around 9pm giving the staff a hard time about them being out of hot fudge. Hey, I get it's an ice cream place, but it's an hour before close on a Sunday night. All the employees seem to be young and have no idea about sense of urgency or customer service. Always a long line because employees more at sloth pace. There is no greeting when you walk in... always in a bad mood. Once, I was waiting to order and the employee stood there flirting/talking with her boyfriend for about 5 minutes while I stared at her and then she eventually decided she didn't have anything left to say to him so she decided to serve me. I've also ordered online, hoping to speed up the ordering process and avoid the employee interaction but that doesn't help. Came in 20 minutes after I placed my order and walked up to the counter and said I ordered online for the employee to say "that JUST came in" I said "oh well, I put it in about 20 minutes ago?" However I will say the flavors seem to change very frequently, and if you're picky (like a friend of mine,) you may not always be able to get what you like! I got the U.S.S butterscotch sundae which is basically a banana split and they add waffle cone pieces and hot fudge. You have to try Eleven's heaven I think it's called. It's a sweet maple flavor with candied waffle pieces. So good. This sundae and special themed ice cream flavors is only around until the end of July so get it while you can. This is the one we usually go to due to proximity and we have always been happy with it. It's busy in the hot weather and less so when it's cold but I've never seen it slow. Just left here, the girl helping us (tall blonde) was extremely rude. We walked in she was in the middle of eating something finished chewing turned to me and stood there didn't say anything so I started ordering we went to pay and she was so irritated I felt like maybe we were walking in right before closing but I checked the time and it was only 8:40 pm and so she tells us the total rips the receipt off doesn't say anything at all it was weird her body language and facial expressions definitely let me know she was pissed off about who knows what- she was so mad at what ever was going on with her the total was 20.07 we gave her 30.00 and she gave us the wrong change 4 cents instead of 96 cents which I don't care but clearly your mind is somewhere else. Went to this Baskin Robbins (8807 La Mesa Boulevard) last night with my girlfriend. We ordered two ice cream cones. Servers were wearing masks, but my girlfriend and I (both vaccinated) were not. My girlfriend asked the servers if they had been vaccinated., One mumbled something through her mask and the other said, "No we are not vaccinated." My girlfriend then noticed the servers were wearing gloves, BUT they were handling money AND using the same gloves to scoop ice cream. Servers should not be handling money and serving food items with the same set of gloves. read more

The two young women working at this location tonight (July 16) did this store and the BR brand a huge disservice by their abhorrent treatment of customers waiting for service before the 10 pm closing time. My family was served just before 10 pm. At that time, there was an African-American family with young children and another single man waiting for service. They had been in the store well before 10 pm. At the very moment the clock struck 10, the lead worker announced that the store was "now closed" and that no one else would be served. The family with children and the other man were forced to leave empty-handed. The workers did not even apologize to them. They were so incredibly rude, and actually started laughing about it after everyone was out of the store. Nothing is better than ice cream on a hot day. This place has been a close destination for a cold treat for many years for my family. My wife and I enjoy coming here. I never see the same group of employees when I enter. But who ever is there. They are always nice and willing to serve me ice cream. The wife usually gets a scoop of the same flavor ice cream on a sugar cone every time and if they are out. She goes with her backup flavor. They usually have one or the other. Sometimes both. Me on the other hand. I always go with something different. This philosophy has served me well most of the time. I just need to stick with ice cream with real flavor names like peanut butter chocolate or mint raspberry. I go wrong when I order ice cream with names like Spider-Man or Homerun Blast. I end up dissatisfied and having a blue colored tongue. The ice cream is always an inexpensive treat. Sometimes I buy the pint sizes when they are on sale. We got all our favorites tonight. The scoop sizes haven't increased but the prices went up. Regular scoop $4.79. The young ladies and gentleman that work here are extra friendly and have brilliant customer service skills. Service isn't speedy but the line does move. They are modest with the scoops. This location offers fresh handmade ice bars and frozen bananas. Dipped in chocolate!!! Surprising. Parking is average but can be a outlandish at times. The ice cream here is remarkable. The quality has not changed. Baskin Robbins is childhood favorite. 31 flavors and Rite aid ice cream have always been a childhood favorite of mine.
