This Bass Pro is a must-see if you're visiting Springfield or live in the area. Kids love it, Adults love it and I love it. You don't have to be a country bumpkin to be awed by the sites of the great hall. It looks like a giant cabin that's been filled to the max with goodies for everyone. We ended up there the other day cause we had a few hours to blow the other day and my nephew (8 yrs old) suggested we go and walk around Bass Pro... what's this? Cheap entertainment?! This is the biggest and most grand Bass Pro, the only other one that comes close is the Vegas store. It offers hunting, camping, fishing, boating, hiking, water sports, home decor, clothing... I think you get the point. It is a mega-store that has everything a country girl... err, or country boy, or tourist, would need. They have quality items that are higher priced than you'll find at your average chain store (Wal-mart) but they also have great deals. I'm in no shape or form a fisherman or a hunter but this place deserves 5 stars. It's huge and it'll take you an hour just to walk through it- excluding the aquarium and museums of course. There are live gators in the fishing section and a fish tank near the check out registers. They have a couple of coffee shops that have fudge and other food. The workers are also very friendly and will assist you if you need anything. If you love fishing, hunting and just doing southern things, this place is perfect for you. read more

The best in the country. This is the Grandaddy of all the stores for Bass Pro Shop. This was the largest of the country until the Memphis store is open. It is huge, large, gigantic and they are building the wing of conservation section. This place is 500,000 square feet according to it record and get bigger than that soon when the wing finish. This is outdoorsman Disney. The store have huge tank of aquarium. A lot of fresh water fish. Giant Gar is awesome. Animal display is almost look real every where with the merchandise. Sometime I look up the ceiling, they have duck bottom swimming under the water level display. This is a place for tourist. They also have museum of record fish in the competition sample trophies. The have the Archery Hall of Fame with the notable athlete in the Olympic. The museum display the bow evolve to current technology. It also show many type of arrow head. It also has NRA National Arm Museum. It has good collection of Winchester riffle. The museum display the old west riffle with round bullet and gun powder loading bag. A neat place to go for all of your outdoor (hunting/fishing) needs! I feel that this place doesn't really need a review because of its history. It's always fun to walk around and take in the atmosphere, however, I could do without the marketing salespeople trying to sell me timeshares each time I walk across the front of the store. Went to Springfield to buy two guns for presents. Registered to get waited on. I had been holding out for months to buy the guns and finally decided to go buy them. I was anxiously sitting on a bench with the wife for 25 minutes no registers ringing up people 6 to 7 people behind the counter talking to people no guns on the counter only one woman had a hand gun with four men around her showing her how to work the action I think it was her first gun purchase other talkers were standing around dodging the muzzle. Now I had been there 25 minutes and the only one signed up to buy a gun. I finally told the wife let's leave she wanted to go tell them how disgusted we were I said they don't care and they don't really care if we buy a gun and really I am ok with it. When we got home I showed her some employee reviews on working for bass pro and she said no wonder they don't care. When a company has no respect or care or compassion for there employees then that goes straight to the customer. I buy from bass pro when I need it quick. I order everything else from online store's better price and no bad attitude employee to deal with. I see why the checkout lines are short with silent registers and offering ten dollars everytime you checkout. I go just to walk around and see if I can find a happy employee and enjoy the scenery. Found out they are not considered a dealership and knowone can assist me in even getting information on how to fix product they sold me. They just keep giving me numbers they say will help then the people all state they do not work on the 72 v text-only cart I bought. Getting no help to repair it. I visited Bass Pro today to see the Wonders of Wildlife museum and aquarium. While that was amazing. I am VERY displeased with Bass Pro themselves for allowing their BlueGreen Vacation employees treat customers the way they do. my wife and I just left the Wonders of Wildlife and wanted to wander around Bass Pro. We were immediately greeted by a BlueGreen vacation employee ( at first we thought he was a normal BP employee) He immediately tried pressuring us to buy their vacation plan and timeshare. He was extremely passive aggressive and you could tell he only saw us as a dollar sign. We told him we weren't interested but he would stand in front of us and keep trying to get us to buy. Told him no thanks and he would continue to ask us "why not, do you have another place to take your family on vacation at??" Kept promising us it's $149 for a 2 night vacation at their lodge and we would receive a $75 gift card in store right there. Major scam He was very unprofessional, and very scummy, definitely a too good to be true vacation too. My wife and I later looked at reviews from other people's experiences with BlueGreen Vacations and are so glad we didnt sign up. It is a SCAM!!!! DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM. I spent my Vacation hitting Bass Pro Shops in Springfield and Branson Missouri. This one was Spectacular!! The smell of coffee greats you, so I had a latte that was perfectly blended with my froth...real cute coffee shop over looking the gators and the main floor.. we walked through the area that it the history of Johnny Morris and his rise to Riches... Quite the American Dream ( on Steroids!) I learned he bought Cabelas, Ranger Boats and Time Shares all over the place. The Aquarium was Beyond impressive!! 1.5 million gallons of salt water species and rivers throughout the store that have a variety of fish running through. There are mounts and stuffed animals all over the store like Bear, moose, elk, Deer, ram.....like a Zoo of Taxidermy animals. There is a museum but I didn't go in due to the time. My only issue with the store is that they don't carry kayaks and kayak clothing specifically for kayaking; its tailored for hunters and fishermen.. Ultimately I loved my time at this Amazing space and missed eating at Hemingway's Restaurant which is located in this HUGE Bass Pro Space! Next time I'll eat there!! I NEEDED more Time!! Lol. So much fun! Now first of all, let me preface my review with the caveat that I am sure the time of day, a few happy hour drinks, and a great group of people with me made my experience better than it might have been otherwise. I came in with some coworkers on a work trip and we had a few drinks and snacks at Hemingway's upstairs. Then we hit the store and had a blast. As it was later on a weeknight, there weren't many others around. The staff members were all friendly and really helpful. The store is HUGE, and has a lot more than just merchandise, including live alligators, and a giant turtle. There are waterfalls everywhere, and whether or not you need to, ride the elevator a few times to check out the goats. (Not live goats, gotta be clear on that!). One upstairs section has a giant deer sculpture (20x life size I think it said?) and then really beautiful life size carvings of world record big fish. Very cool to put a visual to the numbers. (Those numbers I often come across while following fishing competitions, of course). None of us are particularly outdoorsy beyond casual hiking, but we still really enjoyed seeing all the things that came in camo. Lingerie? Check. Toilet paper? Check. Baby clothes? Check. (Where's my baby!? Baby camo doesn't seem safe). There were also a lot of fun t-shirts. If you need a gift or souvenir from your trip, this is the place. There was even a very large snack and food section, and a jewelry and accessories section. And of course, if you need a knife, a gun, a boat, an ATV, waders, etc, it's all here. read more

One of my college marketing textbooks said more people pass through the doors of this Bass Pro in a year than visit the Statue of Liberty. I'd believe it. If you're interested in outdoorsy stuff, this store has everything--even its own indoor shooting range. If you like to look at wildlife, such as fishes and turtles and ducks, this store has an awful lot, too. And even those of us who never go further into the wilderness than our own back yard cannot deny the allure of some of the gadgets that can be found in this store of stores. There may be Bass Pro shops all over the country, but they're pale shadows of this place, the One True Bass Pro. Which is not to say that they necessarily have everything. Compared to the Wal-Mart and K-Mart I was in the other day, their selection of camera cases was very poor, and they did not have any kind of a lanyard I could hook to the camera to hang it from my neck. (I finally went down to the fishing section, bought a fishing license lanyard/holder, kept the lanyard, and chucked the plastic holder.) Apart from the store and the aquariums, there is also a Starbuck's (though no WiFi), a fudge stand, Hemingway's restaurant, and even a barber of all things. There is no longer a McDonald's, however; at the time I visited most recently, the area where it had been was under construction and hung with plastic sheeting to restrict access. To be fair, even though Bass Pro has just about everything, 90% of the stuff most of us could possibly want will be found easier and cheaper in a Wal-Mart, with less walking involved. But it's hard to deny the spectacle of the place, and that's worth a visit even if you walk out with your wallet completely intact. read more

This is mostly where tourists go to get their pictures taken and a souvenir. I really don't recommend it because of the lack of knowledge displayed by most staff members. Bass Pro has ceased to be the great sporting good store it once was. It is nothing but an overpriced boutique. Anyone that charges $12.99 for a darn 5 gallon bucket or $7.99 for a flimsy milk crate has lost sight of their purpose. They have a lot of cool stuff and the displays are fun but as much as I prefer to shop brick and mortar stores I'll be shopping Amazon for my sporting goods. Something for everyone! Loved that we were able to bring our black lab dog, Grace in with us. Family friendly all the way. Plan on having plenty of time to enjoy all the sights, museums and open wildlife to explore. Only wish only the clothing, they had better stock on sizes and more selection on women's shoes. It's like a museum for outdoors men. In fact, there is a museum there too! It's a huge place and it can't hurt to visit it if you are in town and have some time to kill. Now, whats sad is that I actually met a few people from the sticks (by that I mean towns actually smaller than Springfield) who were so excited to be there you would have thought they were visiting the hick version of Disney Land. As more of these stores open up across the US, it's less and less of a novelty. But if you have a hankering to see 20+ boats inside, or to choose from a selection of over 100 pocket knives... this is the place for you. read more

I visited the Bass Pro Shops in Springfield MO in October 2018, what an amazing experience. You could easily spend the entire day here. I was so impressed that I'm planning a return trip with my family so they can experience this store. It's more than just a 500,000 square foot store! There is also the National Archery Hall of Fame, the NRA Sporting Arms Museum, heck just walking around the store and seeing all of the taxidermy animals is amazing. There is at least one restaurant and a snack bar. There is the Bass Pro Museum and the insanely awesome Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium (separate reveiew). Everything you could ever want to purchase for the outdoor/fishing/hunting lifestyle is under one roof. The NRA museum is small but put together very well. Easily spend over an hour just browsing the displays. Best part is it's free. The National Archery Hall of Fame is also free and great to view. If you are anywhere near the Springfield MO. area, It would be worth you time and effort to visit the Bass Pro store. Looking forward to my next trip! read more

This is the best outdoor store for many reasons other than being huge. Just went here last weekend during the Christmas shopping season. It has a great Christmas atmosphere because it feels cozy. It feels cozy for one reason: LOW CEILINGS. The entire checkout area and some shopping areas have low ceilings instead of those ridiculously high cathedral ceilings so common now that make every store feel like a warehouse. As a monument to all things outdoors, this Bass Pro flagship largely achieves its lofty ambitions. The ambiance and selection of items available for purchase are both second to none, and the store is big enough to take several hours of your time if you let it. There's a nice mix of higher- and lower-end merchandise, so budget-conscious shoppers need not fret - although the presence of the latter usually just makes you want to purchase the former, so maybe they should. Staff try really hard to be helpful and are usually successful, but there's a sense that the size of the store sometimes leads to confusion even among well-meaning salespeople. Furthermore, they are almost never as educated on the specifics of each product as you hope they will be, so be prepared to do a lot of Googling while you're there. All that aside, it's hard to recommend against at least a casual visit to one of the businesses that truly shaped Springfield into what it is. And, if you love the outdoors, you likely won't leave disappointed - or empty-handed. read more

I have shopped at several Bass Pros and never have I been disrespected so badly by a young female worker in the hand gun department. It seemed like a prejudice issue as she looked at me by the counter and chose to wait on two other customers. I spoke with a male manager but all he did was assume and assure that it was just an oversight and that the girl is not the prejudice type. I'll not accept that as it was just a weak attempt at him taking my treatment and concerns lightly at best. I was looking forward to finally seeing the original Bass Pro but when that is how I am treated I will leave and change my thoughts about patronage of any Bass Pro shops. Wow. I've recently rediscovered my love of hiking. Have been active on the local Greenways Trails, which allow me to wear tennis shoes, but wanted to experience some nature trails. Couldn't be happier with my purchase of the Keen hiking boots I purchased from Bass Pro. I had been window shopping for the last few weeks and finally made the decision to purchase a few items. With the help of Underwood, D, I decided on a new M-15 3-gun rifle and a Glock 43. It was a very good buying experience, remarkable customer service and depth of knowledge. This is how spending $2,500 should feel. I returned the next morning to purchase an EOTech 518 sight and G33 magnifier. I know I could have probably saved a few hundred dollars buying them online, but I like the idea of supporting local business and was hoping to be met the same remarkable Underwood customer service, because I had a question or two before buying (over $1,000 purchase, so I should be able to look at it and ask a question before buying). I ended up going in the morning, sadly no Underwood on the morning crew. It was one of the worst buying experiences of my life. First they had little interest in assisting me, despite the fact that I was the only customer in the store in the firearms section. After they finished their huddle and loud dirty jokes about some tall girl that manages another department, one walked by (clearly avoiding eye contact) and I asked for his assistance, he grunted. Yes, grunted. He then said he needed to finish inventory before he could assist me, so I waited. He never came back. I was in such disbelief I waited 20 minutes. I left and returned in the evening and was greeted by a much friendly crowd. I bought the sight and magnifier. I returned this morning because I absolutely needed a Mr. Buddy propane heater today. I swung by the firearms section just to see if it was an isolated incident. Same result, zero assistance provided. I then flagged an employee down and asked when they might receive a new batch of 30 round pmag's in, the gen M3 models. He didn't answer the question, instead goes into a rant about how I should refer to them as gen 3 magazines and not gen m3. Lesson: don't shop at this location in the mornings. read more
