Unfortunately, there are many "churches" that have a completely different focus. Northside Christian Church is the real deal. Although this is not my church home, I have visited enough times to know they live up to their mission of "Connecting People to Christ and One Another". Both of my sisters and their families attend NCC. I am truly impressed by the church's ministries for children and teens. I am so thankful I was raised in a Bible based, Christian church. It makes me thrilled to see other children have the same opportunity and develop a sincere belief in Christ. If you live in the Springfield area and need a church home, I recommend visiting Northside Christian Church or check out their website to read more about their ministries.

The cry room is a welcome sight as many churches have done away with them. The Knights of Columbus chapter here is very active but in need of more participation from the 20 to 50 year old parishioners. A lot of the heavy lifting is done by 60, 70 and 80-year-old men & the next generations need to step up and attend the meetings and volunteer more. This is evident by just observing who shows up for events and volunteers. The Harvest Home Festival is the highlight of the year and not just for the people that attend the church, but for the community as a whole. The church has many events that benefit the community.

This is a small church nestled right in the middle of a neighborhood on Scenic. There are houses…read moreall around, many in walking distance of the church. I'm hoping some of those in the neighborhood are members of this church. My mom wanted to visit and she appreciated the friendliness of the parishioners. We were navigating her wheelchair and everyone was so helpful with getting through the doors and in and out of the car. The pastor was very casual and inserted a lot of personal life into his sermon along with bringing the Word. Abundant Life has a 9am service and 11am. We attended the 11am service and it wasn't crowded. Personally, I definitely felt the parishioners could have been friendlier to first time visitors but I'm glad that my mom felt welcomed and enjoyed the service.
