They were in no hurry to settle the case early. Some employees are honest and ethical, and some incredibly dishonest and unethical. The main attorney is critical, cursed at me, and told me "you are not likable". The main attorney has a pattern of suing his clients for overbilled fees. The main attorney made claims my case was costly and complex because he had to communicate with my forensic accountant often. He did not. I had a contract with my forensic accountant, communicated myself with her, and asked her not to call their law office. The forensic accountant only creates a report and submits it; no need for expensive calls.

I'm not sure if I can disclose her rate but needless to say it was the most affordable hourly rate I had been quoted compared to the other attorneys that practice law in Harris County (my case was in the 312th district court Judge David Farr). Her law office was the best I had been in. She felt confident she could argue my case before the judge and fight for my rights as a father to help me get custody of my 2 year old daughter and unborn son. My friends all told me to save my money and the judge would order me joint custody by default. They told me there was no point in hiring an attorney and just to ask the judge for "equal custody". Now that I'm several months into my child custody case, I wish I had retained Ms. Portz as my lawyer. Most of my money for retainer fees has already gone to the child support payments and I have to pay for all the mistakes I have made in my case including being found in contempt of court. I have mediation this month and if you can't tell, I'm a nervous wreck. Do yourself a favor and hire an attorney (any attorney) if you are in a divorce or child custody proceeding. Don't pay $200 initial consultation fee other attorneys charge and don't pay $500 consultation fee for "board certified attorneys". Don't make the same mistakes as I did. I would not recommend hiring Daryl Longworth to represent you in a divorce or child custody matter…read more I retained Mr. Longworth approximately two years ago to represent me in my divorce and custody case. Looking back, I believe the representation I received resulted in an extremely unfavorable outcome that continues to affect my relationship with my children. Since the divorce was finalized, I have consulted with two separate family law firms to evaluate whether a modification of my current custody and visitation order is possible. Both attorneys expressed significant concerns regarding the terms of the decree and visitation schedule that were negotiated and entered in my case. Both advised that a modification appears warranted based on the circumstances. However, one attorney stated that they would explore whether portions of the original order could potentially be thrown out & redone due to how one-sided they believed the agreement to be. The other advised that while they would work to improve the current order, correcting the issues would be difficult because of the terms already in place. What is most frustrating is that I relied on Mr. Longworth's advice when deciding whether to agree to the terms of the settlement. I was led to believe that the provisions were standard and necessary under the circumstances. After obtaining independent legal opinions, I no longer believe that was the case. Divorce and custody cases have long-term consequences that can affect both parents and children for years. Based on my experience, I wish I had sought additional legal opinions before agreeing to the final terms of my decree. If you are considering hiring Mr. Longworth, I would strongly encourage you to carefully evaluate your options, ask detailed questions, and consider obtaining a second opinion before making any major decisions regarding your case. After retaining Mr. Longworth & up to mediation, here's what I experienced: - Lack of communication or delayed responses. I voiced my concerns to Mr. Longworth about the lack of communication and he threatened to withdraw from my case with no refund. - Failure to explain legal options or potential consequences. - Pressured to settle without fully understanding the terms. - Failed to explain specific ways the custody schedule negatively affected my parenting time. - Expressed billing concerns, but they were ignored. - Important issues I raised were ignored or inadequately addressed.
