So far its the best buffet/steakhouse I've been to in the area. The restaurant itself is spacious and can accommodate big parties if needed. It's really hard to keep up with all the meat coming around but my suggestion is if you want to try everything, get a piece of meat and share it with your friends or ask for a smaller piece or else it's impossible to taste everything. The sushi spread is amazing. I've been to other buffets in the area that have sushi but it does not taste as fresh as Batel Grill. The drinks are really good as well, can't go wrong with a caipirinha or a juice. I love places like this as the options and variety here is very accommodating to anyone you can imagine. I only wish rodizios in the US were the same. Salad bar has many options, mmmmm palmito!! :) I recommend getting here early as it does get really packed. It appears to be smaller than Jardin's and not as nice in terms of overall ambiance but I will pick Batel Grill any day. Service was good and attentive, no complaints. Great spot. Definitely the local choice for BEEF!! We went with a group of 8 and had a great time. Service was amazing and all the cuts were top notch. Get there close to 6pm or you will risk not getting a seat without a reservation. Will def go next time in Curitiba. read more

Was really looking forward to trying this place - a local friend had really hyped it up. Showed up right when they opened, was in awe of the massive amount of seating (and the massive amount of food..). Curiously enough, the restaurant filled up almost completely on a weekday evening - very popular. Reasonably priced for what I suspect is the nicest Brazilian BBQ in town. There were so many options it was impossible to taste them all. They even had a decent selection of fish and sushi. Truly something to please everyone. Great spot - worth the visit! read more

Best brazilian steakhouse I ever been. I went to Jardin's in Curitiba and have been to many in the US, including many Fogo. They were able to accommodate a group of ~30 of us. Very large venue. Meat was fantastic, a very large selection. The salad bar was very good. Specifically the Salmon sashimi was top notch- Nice fresh, thick cuts that you'd be lucky to find in a Japanese restaurant. read more

When I found out that I was going to be working in Curitiba, I immediately messaged some of my friends and asked them what were some good churrascaria's in the city to check out. The common thread was Batel Grill so I went there for lunch on a Saturday. Firstly, they have parking in the back and there is a ton of space. I showed up around noon and the restaurant was already starting to fill up. I was able to snag a parking spot though. I then entered the restaurant and they have a pretty big main lobby. I gave the hostess my name and phone number and she told me to wait in the lobby. They started bringing out small appetizers for the people waiting in the lobby. About 15 minutes later, my name was called and I went to the main part of the restaurant and met another hostess who directed me to my table. I headed for the buffet which is gigantic. They also have a sushi bar (buffet as well) next to the main buffet. The sushi bar is quite small but does offer nigiri/sashimi and sushi rolls. However, most of the sushi rolls contain cream cheese which I think should never go together. The thing that caught my eye in the main buffet was that they had hummus and baba ghanouj. Considering that I love Middle Eastern food, I took some sizeable helpings of both. When I got back to my table, I tried both and was pleasantly surprised. This actually tasted like hummus and baba ghanouj that I can get at some good middle eastern restaurants back in Chicago. Well. What I really like about this Batel Grill is that in addition to a rodizo of meat, they also do a rodizo of pasta/risottos. The mushroom risotto is a must try. The meat of course is very good. I asked for only 'mal passado' (Roughly translates to medium rare) and they only brought mal passado meat to my table. The fraldinha is delicious and the picanha is very good. For dessert, I managed to finish the Creme de Papaya before paying less than R$70 total. When I left (around 1:15) I walked through the main lobby to get to my car. The main lobby was completely packed!!!! DO NOT SHOW UP LATE FOR LUNCH!!! I heard that the wait was around 1 hr at that time. SO thankful that I came early. A friend took me here last night as it is one of the essential things to do when visiting Curitiba. The selection of food both on the buffet and the meats and side dishes passed around to the tables out any American versions of a churrascaria to shame. My favorite was the fried gnocchi, both with the cream sauce and then the chocolate sauce as dessert. And the filet with mustard sauce was incredible! Also be sure to try the cheese with molasses, I would have never thought molasses on cheese is good but it's delicious. All of this and it's about 1/3 of the price of going to Fogo de Chao in the US. Excellent churrascaria. Price is around 49 reals per person which is not bad at all considering the high quality of the food, meat, salad bar and sushi bar. Place gets absolutely packed and you should either get early or make a reservation. read more

When we arrived in Curitiba, my family took us straight to eat at Batel. They say it's considered the best churrascaria in south Brazil.... this place was SO GOOD. I thought they had been overselling but they were actually underselling the place. Seriously, everytime we went to Curitiba during our trip, we went to Batel. During the week you get in almost right away, but on the weekends you either need to get there before noon or be prepared to wait. I gotta be honest though. They make the waiting very easy to deal with. They give out fried yucca (delicious) and salagdinhos (pastels and coxinhas - which are basically fried empanadas and fried breading with shredded chicken - or chicken kisses as my sister's boyfriend calls them). They also give out some free (alcoholic) beverages. And they have couched and benches to sit on. When we went on a Sunday around 1-2pm we waited about 40 minutes which was actually not as long as I thought it would be because we had a party of 16 people. The buffet has a good selection of salad, veggies, and sides (rice, beans, stoganoff, salmon, etc) and the meat is extremely well seasoned. If you're going with a vegetarian/vegan they will have enough options to leave satisfied. They are also all labeled in Portuguese and English. If you have never been to a churrascaria it works like this: The servers come around with various cuts of meat and temperatures (rare, medium, well done) and you pick what you want. They also have some pastas and other warm dishes that the servers pass around that are also very good. If you never had Guarana Antartica I urge you to try it. It is similar to ginger ale but so much better. You can't go to Brazil and not try Guarana Antartica. They also have dessert for an additional price, not sure how much as my family wouldn't let us pay for anything, but we got fried gnocchi with chocolate sauce that was very good and not too heavy after eating all that steak. In the end, they probably are the best in south Brazil, because of the other churrascarias we ate at (in different cities) none of them even came close to Batel. Not sure what else to say other than go here. You won't regret it! read more
