We bought three bottles of wine, two bottles of beer and yes, I need a bag of chips. The store is small but mighty with a wide variety that was well stocked. At least 200 different beers, most of them chilled. Prices were decent, considering the convenience here in the Hauptbahnhof. [Review 16489 overall - 37 in Switzerland - 1997 of 2021.]

You'll mostly find German and Swiss beers, but there are many other countries represented from Japan to Thailand to Denmark and the USA. Prices are high because they import from all over and are located in such a major train station. Still worth your time to visit and explore flavors. Staff does speak English and is nice enough.

It was such a surprise that NONE of the markets sold local whiskies! We looked it up and ended up here. The atmosphere is very cool, the old school bar as the register area is so beautiful. It feels very high class. The service was great and so knowledgeable. The coolest part is they let us try a bunch of the whiskies to decide which one we wanted to take home! Their prices were very fair, especially for some of the rare bottles they had. Highly recommend, we would be regulars if we lived in the area, but we settled for a bottle and a couple pocket shots.

I've been in a few times and have only been met with very 'present' and engaging staff. Score. As one might imagine, the single malt selection is beefy. They stock a personal fave: Caol Ila Distiller's Edition. In addition to scotch, there's a decent selection of Bourbon and Cognac. At the front of the shop is a small tasting table. Ask the staff to try a spirit and they'll gladly oblige. What I most liked was that even though this shop is in Niederdorf, it wasn't over-run by tourists and had prices that were either commensurate with other shops, or slightly less expensive.

When you walk inside you'll immediately notice their wine selection. Look past that. Find the spirits. The gins, the rums, the aperitifs, the whisky. I spent too much time in here browsing. Do I get an unheard gin, a small batch whisky, 9th Century recipe Chartreuse, a Cuban rum? Do many decisions and my friends weren't helping. Get everything, they say. The staff is very helpful. I found the prices to be a mix of inexpensive, just right, and expensive. It really just depends. Fortunately, it's well organized and each bottle is labeled with volume, price, ABV, and sometimes origin (especially important when browsing all the rums). This place is worth a look.

Beyond the vino are quite tall metal racks filled with rum, whiskey, scotch, bourbon, vodka, gin, aperitifs, digestives, and mixers. A ladder attached to each rack is climbed in order for one to access the booze at the very top of each shelf. Affixed to the front of each rack reads a sign with the words 'no self-service'. At the base of each rack is open product for tasting. I had hoped to try a rye I'd never encountered before, but when I asked after it I was told that that particular brand was not open. Other more expensive ryes, however, where open for tasting, but they were neither offered nor mentioned. -fair enough. If I had really wanted to try another rye, then I would have asked. Although the signs would, perhaps, have had me do otherwise, I did 'help myself' to a bottle of gorgeous Venezuelan rum called Aniversario that happened to be at eye-level and, therefore, easy to grab. The selection of product at P.U. is impressive and seems directed toward those who know their booze, can go in and get exactly what they want without a lot of fanfare.

I would have given them an extra stars, however my last experience there was as follows: I asked for a loaf of bread and as the lady was reaching for it she proceeded to cough all over the rack of bread in front her. No attempt to cover the cough at all. As she grabbed my bread, she again coughed (the good sick cough) on my bread. As she was wrapping my bread, she realized that coughing on me was not an option, so she turned her head and gave a few good coughs into the muffins for sale. I was so shocked I did not know what to do. I notified the company of this and they cared not to respond or give any indication that this is inappropriate behavior. If you want bread, the bakery Stocker towards the Migro has great bread at a fraction of the cost of Marinello.

Talk about a lucky find!…read more I was looking for a gift shop for the University and was walking up the road (I had overshot the gift shop) and found Beers 'N More. The staff there are excellent (and speaking good English, fortunately for me). They are very knowledgable about beers (the one chap provided me an absolutely stellar Barleywine). He even helped me get to the gift shop. How cool is that? They are only a couple of blocks from the main university buildings (very well placed for the students, eh?). It's not particularly large, but they carry an excellent supply of many good beers. They have a few non-beer items (glasses, stickers, etc.) but they really focus on the beer part of "beer 'n more". I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town! Highly recommended.

I do know enough to find places that can help me find the things that I like. Beers 'n' More is one of those places. I found them via some random online article saying that they carried Boulevard beer from Kansas City (my home town) which didn't turn out to be correct. However, the guy working today (who seemed to be the guy running the place) knew about every product in the store. He knew how it had been ordered, how it arrived in the store and how much of it was in stock and/or available. In any case, he asked me what I was looking for and then proceeded to give me a number of recommendations based on my likes & dislikes. I'm still waiting for my new beer to chill but I really enjoy frequenting businesses that take enough pride in their product or service to know what's going on in same. Surprisingly, it doesn't happen often enough. Oh... did I mention that the guy there today was amazingly friendly and mentioned that they actually chose their location because it came with a parking spot out front for their customers? Well, it's true. If you're into craft beer and are willing to go a little out of your way to get some, come and check out this place. It's a quick couple of stops on the tram up the hill from the main Zurich train station.
