Apple Strudel

Awesome food, service and great atmosphere! Been wanted to go here for a few months but could never convince the wife because she didn't think she like any German food. Well finally convinced her to give it a try and we loved it! The Hefeweizen was great in to start! We got the feta with olives, tomatoes and pepperoncini appetizer and the German pretzel both were great. My son got the Jagersnitzel with fries, I got the Swiss yummy and wife got the Cordon Blue snitzel and all were great. The mushroom sauce was delicious, the fries with that German ketchup were so good. And the apple strudel with ice cream is must get!

Retired chef and winegrower; we ate here tonight. Surpassed expectations. Salad... layered with great greens, potato salad, bean salad and carrots, excellent dressing. I had the sausage/potato salad/red cabbage, best bratwurst I ever had. Everything perfect. My partner had the sauerbraten and spaetzle. Perfect. Would have had dessert cake if it were something German but appreciate they were doing a red/white/blue for our country's 250th. Excellent servers. Adorable atmosphere. We will definitely go back. Very large portions, had to get a takeout container. Interesting German pinot noir and the owner came and spoke to us and is very knowledgeable about German wine. Half the price of the miserable experience we had at CarpeVinum121 a couple of weeks ago.

Jaeger Schnitzel!

We showed up and the place was packed. No reservations either so I assumed I was headed for a Domino's run. Fortunately, our very lovely and energetic host offered we could sit at the bar. I'm glad we did. The food is very authentic. At least as I remember it when I was stationed there. Very nice pretzel with hot mustard to start. The schnitzel is thin and well fried. Even with the mushroom gravy on top it stayed crispy the whole way through the meal. Mashed potatoes or champ would have been better but the spatzle was nice. The sausage and sauerkraut was nice but I feel my wife missed out on the schnitzel... Best of all was the service. They were half staffed and our hostess was flying around the room but always had time to stop by the bar and chat.. This was a perfect date night experience for my wife and I. We will be back often!

The infamous cream puff. Loaded with fresh whip cream.

Bavarian Kitchen is under new ownership. Our dinner was outstandingly memorable and delightful. The new owners are pleasant and so excited to have the opportunity to share this wonderful food. This is a must stop if you are anywhere near Troutman. It's authentic and genuine German food. Apple strew-dell is new to the line up. And it's beyond delish. Full of apples, cinnamon and nuts stuffed in pastry and served golden brown. OMG! I can't wait to return to try the next amazing dish.

Food, drinks, atmosphere, service

First time ever eating German food and this place did not disappoint! From the service, to the food, to the beer and wine, everything was top notch and AMAZING! The portions were very generous but the quality went right along with it. The owners were so kind and made you feel right at home. Tina, one of the waitresses was amazing and also so kind. Highly recommend this place. If you're looking for a great experience, mixed with fun, amazing food, drinks, ambiance, and awesome service, look no more! Bavarian Kitchen Restaurant is the place to be! Thank you for such a wonderful experience, my husband and I will be back, and will be bringing many friends with us!

Amazing food! A great hole in the wall with a great German vibe! Wiener Schnitzel, Spaetze, Wine Kraut, and Red Cabbage were all delicious! Always great finding amazing German restaurants when least expected since you don't come across them every day. Our server was also great! Will return when in the area again. You won't regret it....just go!

Gypsy schnitzel - fries, pork schnitzel topped with pepper and tomato mix

The food is as authentic Bavarian food as you can get in the Lake Norman area. The pork roast with dumpling was delicious and tender. It was as good as what I had in Rothenburg a few months ago. There was a lot of it so I took leftovers home and it was just as good the next day. Husband enjoyed the hefty portion of Gypsy Schnitzel. Both entrees came with a side salad. Really enjoyed the German beer. Restaurant was booked full so it was a bit noisy on the Friday we were there. Ambiance was lively. Reservations are strongly recommended. If you walk in without one, you get seated at the bar if there's room. Service was outstanding. Our server had great timing, would pass by to check on us regularly but was never intrusive. Parking can be limited since it's a shared lot with multiple businesses so you might have to drive around to find a space. We parked in front of the pawn shop and walked the length of the lot to the restaurant. We enjoyed our visit greatly and would love to return.

Located in a Strip Mall off Main Street in Troutman, this charming little restaurant is quite busy. Although they have a large menu, all but two items are made with pork. The fried pounded pork dishes are all very large portions. Most people take half of their meal home. French Fries came with our meals but we optioned too have spaetzel instead. It was very bitter tasting from the sauce put on it. The service was excellent. Prices were reasonable. Be sure to make a reservation.

Schnitzel sandwich and potato salad

My husband, 2 year old, and I came in for lunch. My daughter requested sausages for lunch, so German was the perfect spot! We were greeted by Julie, who sat and served us. She was very kind and polite. The dining room is gorgeous. All the tables and chairs are beautiful wood. Its almost like you're sitting inside a little cottage. My husband and I are not very big drinkers l, but wanted to drink, and Julie was a great help is suggesting drinks for us. She brought my husband a German pilsner and German sweet red wine for myself. Both were fantastic! The owner came out and let her know that my daughter could order chicken fingers and fries if she wanted, even though its not on the menu. He was very polite as well. We thanked him for the offer but that we came here because she wanted sausages, he was surprised and pleased! We ordered from their lunch menu. We started with the cheese dip and pretzels. This cheese dip was a creamy brie base with lots of seasoning and onions. The pretzels were warm and soft. Great start to our meal. I ordered the schnitzel sandwich with potato salad, my husband the meatloaf sandwich with potato salad, and my daughter the 2 brats with fries. My schnitzel was absolutely delicious. I haven't had such good schnitzel in a long time! It came on a little roll and honestly it didn't need it at all! My husband's dish was more of a surprise to us. When he ordered he (and I) were thinking a more traditional (American) type of meatloaf. This was more like a thick cut slice of bologna or spam. That being said it was really delicious and tasty with the mustard they served with it. My daughter's sausage was juicy and flavor food. Between the delicious food and super cool atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

This may be my favorite restaurant - always fresh, great service, German beer, and more food that humans should be allowed to eat.

Seeing her hustle and serve several tables, it was clear she goes out of her way to make customers happy. Loved her! Tables were clean and spacious and my breakfast sandwiches with egg, bacon and gouda was really tasty. It was a lot of food for one person, with the potatoes side too. There's plenty of outdoor seating available as well but it was pretty hot that afternoon. We started with a couple large pretzels and a variety of beers- I just had a prosecco though, so if beer isn't your thing, there are alternative options. For my entree, I ordered the pastrami sandwich and Mac and cheese. Other common orders included the salmon, donner bowl, schnitzel and sausage sampler. The food came out quickly and we all ate in relative silence which is a good indication of satisfaction! @azfitfoodfun

We started with the large Bavarian pretzel, served warm with queso and spicy mustard--perfect for sharing. The Boar's Head pastrami sandwich was outstanding, piled high with jalapeño-kraut, melted Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing on toasted marble rye. The Hot Mama pizza was a standout: classic cheese pizza topped with Italian sausage, honey, and fresh basil (I skipped the red pepper flakes--just a personal preference). A great spot for good food, good drinks, and a relaxed vibe. Check out the plates on walls and ceilings for people that drank a certain amount of different beers.
