But after my first divorce, Arusyak advised me to get a prenuptial agreement if I ever got married again. 4yrs later the prenuptial agreement was enforced and my divorce was handled with zero dollars exchanged and a simple dissolution. Even though I had the agreement in place it was still a scary process but Arusyak assured me & let me know upfront the worst and best case scenario so I knew what to expect. I can't thank Arusyak enough. She offered me two paths. One simple option, one more costly, another more costly but ultimately I'd get more from the divorce. She made it very clear the difficulty and expenses involved in each option, and that I needed to commit to the decision no matter what happened in court. The only down side is the slow communication. I have a feeling this is endemic through the legal community so it wasn't a big deal for me. If something has gone too long I'd send a gentle reminder message. Anyone who is going through a divorce probably think their case is the worst... the truth is, you are very vulnerable and divorce is a business. Arusyak was very fair and straightforward with me although the case ended up going on for more than a year. That is pretty long when you have no kids and all you have to do is split joint property and sell a house (you would think!). After failing mediation, my ex switched gear and started missing court dates, not answering emails, letters, depositions, etc... It was probably not going to end well for her and she finally got a lawyer. Arusyak did negotiate well with the other party and finally got us to a settlement that seemed improbable as the trial date was approaching... The case was simple but emotional and Arusyak was compassionate. She used her network to get things done and was efficient. I would work with her again. I had the misfortune of requiring Arusyak's services for a particularly nasty and contentious divorce (by my standard, at any rate). I married a pathological sociopath whose tastes gradually evolved from the delicious cookies I generally bake, to the contents of my stock portfolio. She decided to hire an ambulance chaser to come after me, armed with barefaced lies and a natural lack of emotion. I could talk about how Arusyak knows the laws and has a degree from Berkeley (unlike opposing counsel), has a great deal of tact, confidence, and discretion, but to be honest, that's far less interesting than the following fact. Have you ever seen a lawyer being verbally SPANKED over and over again in court? I hadn't, and the deftness, skill, and confidence with which Arusyak REPEATEDLY had opposing counsel's ridiculous claims dismissed was -- dare I say it -- almost fun to watch (it wasn't though, on account of divorce generally being traumatic and horrible). The bottom line is this -- if you're NOT going to court, it probably doesn't matter which lawyer you have. IF YOU *ARE* GOING TO COURT, you want Arusyak on your side, because I sure as hell wouldn't want her on the other person's side. read more

When I first met Arusyak I immediately knew that she was a very different kind of an attorney. Far from your average lawyer who is only interested in taking your money and dragging out the process, Arusyak actually enjoys her profession (which she is very good at) and has real compassion for her clients. She knows the law so well that she has no problem walking into any courtroom confidently and both the judges and opposing attorneys are often impressed with her. Because of her small stature and un-assuming air it's very easy to misjudge her as a just another pretty face, but I can assure you she possesses both knowledge, guts and solid courtroom skills. I can say a lot more about Arusyak and her abilities, but what impressed me about her most, is that she is an extremely shrewd negotiator. In my case her negotiating skills have accomplished more than all the courtroom drama could have ever done. Because she was able to show the opposing council the futility of continuing litigation she was able to negotiate fair conditions for both parties. Using her natural charm, impeccable diplomacy and smooth negotiating tactics she resolved my custody case by talking with the opposing party and her lawyer, then skillfully putting together a workable stipulation agreement. The review I left several years ago still stands. Arusyak is an attorney that seeks the truth. She has the nose of a bloodhound to sniff out bullshit. And her nose knows what's good for her clients, potential clients and herself. She can probably tell you if there's toilet paper in the bathroom before you even walk in.
