I came to Clear Creek about 4 years ago when they started their "Shine" series. From the moment I…read morestarted the "Shine" series, I felt safe. I felt my sins, troubles, and sorrows were washing away as I stood before Him. The sermon resonated within me, the voice of Kerri (who is their lead singer) brought me to tears. Nothing is better than coming each Sunday to remind yourself of the goodness of Him. Though you may not forgive yourself, He does. Each pastor teaches differently. My favorite is Yancey, who adds humor, yet depth to his teachings. I highly recommend to those who are new to the community, who are lost & need to be found, or anyone that needs to find a new church to call home.

Let me start by saying that I am not a Christian, if anything I lean more Theist or Buddhist. That…read moresaid, this church pretty much ticks all the boxes for anyone in need of a little spiritual healing. Lets start with all the good stuff. *Childcare- It is provided here for all ages and it is STELLAR! The kids area is beautiful, clean and well run. They have the whole place on lockdown and you can leave your children knowing they are well cared for and safe. The peace of mind is priceless. The staff is awesome and my kids love coming. They also do bible related crafts and activities. *Coffee- It's plentiful and it's free! They have 2 well stocked coffee areas with sugar, cream, tea and on a good day some gorgeous soul will bring donuts. They also have lots of tables and chairs. *Service- It's relatively painless! I approach service as more of a philosophy class and although I don't always agree with what's said I can usually walk away with some valuable nugget. There are about 3-4 senior and junior pastors that rotate between this location and 2 others. Yancy is our unofficial favorite. They're very good about not using the "Christian" label, I suppose it's to attract more folks. *Community Service- CCCC really stands out here. For example, last Sunday they cut service short because they had over 20 organizations set up in the lobby for the congregation to walk around and find something to get involved in. They had everything, refugee assimilation, foster care, women & children's shelters, Habitat for Humanity, etc. They have bible studies and groups to get involved in. I believe there is also a service on Weds. They are super hands on in the community and truly do give back. Honestly can't think of anything bad. See you on Sunday!

When I decided it was time for me to come back in 2014, I attended the church and the experience was quite different for me. The staff of the church wasn't as friendly as I had experienced at first, I even decided to attend the newcomers church program in December and discovered that this church doesn't welcome all kinds of people. I was rather placed in a rude position with one of the ushers or pastors when I told him that I church hop, he wasn't very nice about it and he made a very rude comment about it. Hint here: Every church worshipper, church hops when they don't even know it, I mean everyone does it, I bet you don't attend the same church you grew up in, now do you. After that encounter, I left the first day of the newcomers class and didn't return to the church until 2015, which I thought maybe could change my mind. I was coming for the Hindu religions class that one of the speakers was a professor from a local university, the class was very interesting, but the people of this church didn't treat me well and I often felt like an outcast, like I didn't belong, and it made me feel very uncomfortable. Even after church service, where everyone would meet in this large community room, I always felt uncomfortable, it could be since although everyone is nice, but you can easily tell when the majority Caucasian population is being treated sweeter than the minorities. I always received stares when I walked into the church and it just made me uneasy so I've stopped attending the church. This church has left a bad taste in my mouth and I can't say I will be back. Although, the community garden is still cool, but I won't be viewing it anymore. When you first attend this church, you feel as if it accepts all kinds, but once you get into the system of things, you will easily watch how people true colors come out and reveal what they really are about. That's what I experienced and it was definitely a horrific one.
