Our family's favorite spot for all things delicious, and on the weekends, brunch! And when I say family, I mean all FOUR generations love it, from the kiddos to the great grands. We love the way that we've gotten to know all the waitstaff, and especially love that every one of them likes the owners. That tells a LOT about how a business is run. The food truly is excellent, the drink options are so yummy, and the vibes are immaculate. They are so welcoming to families, as well as to those who are looking for bar vibes to watch the game of the day. There's something for everyone! I already look forward to my next visit! Honestly, part of me doesn't want to upload this positive review because I don't want my favorite place to be TOO flooded with people, but things this good shouldn't be kept to myself

NEIGHBORHOOD HANGOUT (4.5 stars) This place is such a neighborhood hangout! FOOD: yum SERVICE: great PRICE: fair AMBIANCE: chill but parking sucks I wouldn't think a corner bar on top of Bay Hill would be vibe but it seems so with the neighborhood folks. Area is great. Parking is minimal, park on the street or across in the shopping parking lot. They have Taco Tuesdays. They have trivia nights on Wednesdays. It's family and dog friendly. And on any day it's always packed with people. Taverns usually have amazing bar food. They have amazing bar food but also different! Brunch, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, tacos, plate dishes, etc etc! WORKING CLASS CAULIFLOWER ($14) - Crispy cauliflower tossed in sweet & spicy sauce, sesame seeds & green onions, side of white rice. This was a feature and a popular dish here so I had to try it. I loved how I could keep eating this without feeling sluggish after a big meal. The cauliflower were chopped in bite size pieces, fried with a batter, and glazed with a flavor similar to a mix of sweet and sour + orange chicken but not. Kind of also reminded me of Gobi Manchurian but again not. Overall, it was a delicious meal and something I'd def order again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND There's so much more on the menu to tackle and I can't wait to put this in the rotations. Until the next bite...

Always enjoy my time in bay hill tavern. Gave the bartender the flavors I liked and created a drink for me that I really loved. I enjoy the vibe, always pretty chill, not crazy loud. I came in around 6pm on July 24th, 2026, and the bartender gave me a coconut raspberry margarita, delish.

Not very busy, sat for 25 min no one came by. Just door dash this place, it's changed and service is terrible.

Each time I come here the food never disappoints. Everything is so good from the cauliflower appetizer to the burger to the fish & chips. I have yet to have something that i'm not crazy about! Plenty of seats and TVs to hang out with friends or have a date night! Service is always easy and everyone is always friendly and helpful.

OBSESSED with bay hill!! I live locally so I usually come at least once a week for trivia, happy hour, or a quick bite. I haven't had a food item or drink that I haven't liked. The nachos are my favorite and the salmon sandwich. The salad portion sizes are great and everything always comes out fast. Love this place!!

Solid burgers, servers are nice and funny, ambience has a big time local feel, especially on trivia nights. Parking is limited, but the Sprouts lot across the way in the evenings usually has plenty of space.

From valet, to check-in, sitting down, taking my order, checking up on me, and closing out my check, Bay Hill Tavern hit all its marks. I came here to watch some baseball, and even though it was busy, I was able to sit at the bar after a kind gentleman let me know he was leaving and offered his seat. All I had to do was nod and say what's up for one of the bartenders to acknowledge me, and we were set for the night. I got my iced tea, put in my order, enjoyed the game, and appreciated the food. I just moved to the area, so.I drove out a bit without using yelp and decided to just see what maps would give me. Every member of the staff was just awesome, and I'd say that Bay Hill Tavern exemplifies the warmth of the city that I read about after I moved here. This was probably one of the best experiences I've had since relocating. Thanks Bay Hill Tavern!

I was trying to figure out the word where you don't want people to know about a place because you want to keep it a secret just for yourself. God for sure wanted me to write this review because when my family and I attended church today, our Pastor enlightened me with the word I was thinking about during his sermon, which was the word "gatekeeping". My son, my dad, my brothers, my brother-in-law, and my nephew are big time UFC fans where we'll often watch UFC pay-per-view (PPV) events at local sports bars. Last night we visited the sports bar and restaurant Bay Hill Tavern (BHT) and based on our first time experience where we ate delish food, enjoyed great ambience watching some exciting UFC fights, and received exemplary service from our waitress Mikayla, I was going to gatekeep this UFC spot, but this restaurant needs to be shared by other UFC fight fans like my family and I. There are several sports bars and restaurants around San Diego that my family and I frequent to get our UFC fix on. We've watched UFC PPV telecasts at Pitchers, Bullpen Bar and Grill, Novo, 3N1 Bar and Grill, and Brewski's. Many of these sports bars charge a cover price just to have the opportunity to watch the PPV. Great thing about Bay Hill Tavern is that there is no cover at all. BHT is located at the intersection of Clairemont Drive and Burgener Blvd. It's just a short walk from the Clairemont Village shopping center, it's across the street from Starbucks and Carl's Jr., across the street from Verizon, and it's next to Side Piece Bar and V Outlet. Side Piece Bar is a sister establishment to BHT where you can play billiards, darts, and other sports. There is free valet parking for BHT, but you also could park in the shopping center. As you enter the restaurant, you'll immediately notice the spaciousness where there is high table top seating, bar top seating, tables and chairs, booth seating, and outdoor seating with a view of a valley. There's foliage hanging from the ceiling, an armada of televisions in various sizes to watch UFC, and classy signage and murals on the walls. Our waitress Mikayla provided exceptional customer service where she was attentive, filled our drinks without being asked, and she had a positive disposition. For my family and I, we return to an establishment to watch UFC PPV events because it has a great environment, but most importantly, we return because of the delicious food they serve. BHT has an amazing ambience where other UFC fight fans flock to and I guess I really couldn't gatekeep this place since this place was packed with other UFC fight fans. Since this was our first visit, we took a little while to peruse their menu. BHT serves appetizers, pizzas, salads and bowl, burgers, sandwiches, entrees, and dessert. My son and I decided to share their appetizer Dirty Fries, which contains french fries, beer cheese, guacamole, pickled onions, jalapeños, and a side piece of spicy ranch. I'm a fan of cheese fries, so I really enjoyed this starter with the fresh guac and the added kick of the jalapeños. After perusing the menu, I immediately knew what I wanted after seeing that BHT serves a Philly cheesesteak with their BHT Meets Philly. That sandwich had shaved ribeye, roasted bell peppers, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and mozzarella all of which are on an amoroso roll. The ribeye was tender, seasoned just right, the vegetables were fresh, mozzarella was melted, and the toasted roll all made for a flavorful meal. Their Philly cheesesteak would be competitive against restaurants that specialize in cheesesteaks. I paid extra for a side of garlic fries, which were a meager portion and they needed to be more generous with the garlic. We ended our meal by sharing their Chocolate Chip Cookie Skillet, which is a made to order warm chocolate chip cookie in a cast-iron skillet, topped with vanilla ice cream. It was hot, moist, sweet, and gooey, but there needed to be a larger scoop of ice cream. Bay Hill Tavern provides my family and I with another option for us to enjoy UFC slobberknockers because of its delectable food, awesome environment, and quality customer service. Gatekeeping this restaurant would be to our benefit, but other UFC fight fans need to experience what we experienced during our first visit, which we intend to visit again.

Great recommendations, super genuine and fun, had the best energy and was CONSTANTLY checking in on us; however, a couple of the other workers could have been a little bit more open with communication. We were sitting against the window at the high top wraparound bar tables (feels like an extension of the bar), so the bar is easy to order from and was our go to as soon as we arrived. The bartender took our order, but was standoffish as if we were doing something foreign or a big "no no". Finally the server in charge of our area told us that the bartenders are in charge of the bar and there are other servers for all the other tables/zones. If we were told that from the beginning, we would have made sure to follow the order of the place and order from the correct server. A few of us truly felt bad, but now we know when we go in next time what to expect. Barleymash is always a great time, so we always want to make sure we are doing it right! I truly recommend sitting anywhere else but that window/wall on a packed night, but sometimes you have to deal with what you are lucky enough to get!

When I entered the restaurant around 7:00 PM, I was stopped and questioned extensively by security regarding my service animal. Rather than being asked the limited ADA-compliant questions permitted by law, the interaction became prolonged and uncomfortable while staff repeatedly attempted to determine whether my dog was a "real" service animal or simply an emotional support animal. I remained waiting at the entrance while this was repeatedly discussed back and forth. What made the situation especially humiliating was that another patron openly laughed at me during the interaction while walking outside for a cigarette. I later realized this same patron had her own dog inside the establishment in a stroller the entire time. Staff members appeared very familiar and comfortable with her, and multiple employees, including my waitress- referred to her as a "regular." Although her dog was eventually moved to the patio area, the contrast in how the situations were handled made me feel singled out, embarrassed, and unfairly scrutinized. I later spoke with management in hopes of resolving the matter respectfully. During that conversation, I was surprised and concerned to hear that neither management nor staff were familiar with psychiatric service animals or their protections under the ADA. Psychiatric service animals are legally recognized service animals when trained to perform disability-related tasks, and this lack of awareness was deeply concerning, especially in a city like San Diego with a large disabled and veteran community. I fully understand that businesses are allowed to ask limited ADA-compliant questions regarding service animals, and I also understand that many establishments have dealt with individuals falsely claiming pets as service animals. However, there is a significant difference between appropriately verifying a service animal and making a disabled customer feel publicly interrogated and humiliated. The overall handling of this interaction lacked professionalism, sensitivity, and basic understanding of ADA service animal protections. No customer should feel mocked, scrutinized, or publicly embarrassed simply for entering a restaurant with a legitimate service animal. I sincerely hope this situation can serve as an opportunity for additional ADA education and proper service animal training for staff moving forward so that other disabled guests do not experience similar treatment. I would appreciate being informed of any steps the restaurant intends to take regarding ADA compliance and staff training before I determine how I would like to proceed further. Thank you for your time and attention.

My wife's enthusiasm for the offerings has always been infectious, and during this visit, she and her girlfriend were on a culinary adventure of their own, indulging in the flavors that have made Nicky Rottens a local favorite. The burgers are truly out of this world--juicy, flavorful, and expertly crafted to ensure a warp-speed experience with every bite. You'll find that each dish is prepared with precision, as if overseen by a skilled chef with the abilities of a Vulcan and the passion of a true culinary Starfleet officer. In conclusion, Nicky Rottens is a prime destination for anyone seeking a vibrant atmosphere, stunning views, and a solid meal. I can confidently say that if you ever find yourself in Coronado, this establishment is a must-visit. After all, it's just one small step for man, and one giant leap into deliciousness! Got a paloma and the flavor was more intense than I expected, but it was pretty good…read more Tater tots are nice and crispy, great texture. Aside from that, they're generic normal tasting tater tots. For the burger, I liked the bun and other ingredients, but thought the savoriness of the meat was just okay. Also, can't say I'm a huge fan of the tiny lettuce whenever I see it. Overall, this joint is not bad, but I can think of very little about it that stands out. I don't feel that it fully leans into being a sports bar or dive bar or even as a burger joint. It's just.....a bar. Apparently, it prides itself as being an original coronado spot, but I didn't get that kinda vibe here. I don't know.
