I stopped into Bay Quest Souvenir Shop expecting to browse and shop, but unfortunately the interaction with one employee made me very uncomfortable. She followed me around the store and, on two separate occasions, came up to me and said, "We're short staffed." I genuinely wasn't sure what she meant by that. The impression I got was that she didn't want me touching or looking through the shirts. After the second time, I finally asked, "Are you offering me a job?" She immediately backtracked with, "No, no, that's not what I meant..." but I still never really understood what she was trying to communicate. What bothered me most was that I didn't see her treating the other customers that way. I spoke with the manager before leaving, and she said she would address it, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the experience left a bad enough impression that I won't be returning. There are plenty of other souvenir shops on the island where I can browse without feeling like I'm being monitored. Port Isabe/SPl has too many great places to shop to spend my vacation dollars somewhere I don't feel welcome. Lots of t-shirts you could add iron ons to but nothing seemed of good quality. Staff don't acknowledge you or offer to help. I was shopping for baby souvenirs, but none to be had. read more

Bay Quest Outfitter - Plenty of items... - Port Isabel, Texas

My grand daughter and I were in BayQuest yesterday.. I live in Port Isabel and shop in the store often. I always bring family and company to this store to shop every time and have never had a bad experience until today. My granddaughter purchased a swimsuit... top $39.00 bottoms 29.00. The bottoms were way too small.. as in her "bits" were showing. We took them back in today. Tags still on.. receipt in hand... to exchange or get a refund.. nope can't get a refund I am told. Store credit only. Okay so we look and look and look... she finally finds something that will work. Bottoms for 39.00! I ask if they were on sale. Nope! Okay that's a little rich for my pocket book. I tell the lady.. I will just take the store credit. But you just have to keep up with it hope they do to because they don't give a card/paper/receipt to say you have a credit. I get it is spring break and people are idiots... but am a 65 yrs old with a 12 yrs old . I am not trying to defraud or cheat anyone and do not appreciate being treated as such read more

They have such a huge selection of shirts and you can print anything you want on them for free. The worker wasn't happy with our decal, which looked fine to us, so she gave us 50% off. We will be back next time! read more

Whatever what signs say. Place was cool and off the places on the bay this one had some of the best items. The woman helping w questions and what was super sweet super nice. This place has s bunch of stuff you would need for the beach not the best price but also not of bad quality. Bought some tanks for my lil girl and some souvenirs for her teachers reasonable priced. I think when he head back to the island this place will def be on our list to stop. read more

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I had an awful experience. It's your basic souvenir shop that you see in every tourist town. I went in to make a custom print T-shirt. I decided on my design and told the young guy I wanted it on the front. I didn't realize it, but once it was all said and done, he had placed the design on the back. This wouldn't have been such a big deal if they didn't have a no exchange policy. We confronted the guy about doing the shirt wrong and he said "you told me to put it on the back." Nope. I never said that. When my boyfriend and I tried talking to another employee about the situation, she looked at me and said the guy told her I was "being indecisive about where I wanted the design." From this point, a few not so nice words were exchanged and my boyfriend paid for the shirt since I refused. Never coming back. read more

Signs are VERY misleading. $5.99 on all items in large print and very small print reads on selected items. 3/$10 kids shirts on outside sign and inside is 1 rack with a bunch of junk shirts. Don't waste your time with this place. read more

The cashier was rude. My wife and I came in on 06-09 at 1:23pm. When we went to the register she rang everything I then said "I sorry can you do two separate transactions?" At that point she got upset and had a very bad attitude. We then spoke to the general manger. When we spoke to the manager she said "yes she does that sometimes when lines begin" I said that is not a reason for bad customer service. She justified it and confirmed that it is ok by her comments. read more

I recently visited this store to purchase a few beach accessories.A sales associate followed me around the entire time, as if I was going to steal something. I'm sure my ethnicity had something to do with that.It was very rude and degrading and I will never visit this store again!!! read more
