AVOID THIS SHOP - Worst Experience Ever! Unprofessional. Rude. Regret Coming Here. I truly hope others read this before bringing their car here. I was referred to this shop by Union City America's Tire to remove 2 out of 5 stuck lug nuts on my front right wheel. They completed the job last week, but charged an outrageous $450. Shortly after, I started hearing a strange noise from the same area they worked on. I called and asked if they could take a look. The person on the phone agreed to inspect it for free. But when I arrived, the story completely changed. The same guy suddenly claimed he didn't remember me and tried to charge me for the inspection. After some back-and-forth, he admitted he remembered me--but not the car (even though it had only been a few days). I asked him to check with the technician who worked on it, and he flat-out refused, saying that because I "didn't trust him," they wouldn't help me at all. I even showed them the receipt from just a week earlier. Still, they dismissed it and told me to take my car somewhere else. This place shows no accountability for their work, no willingness to help resolve issues, and absolutely no respect for their customers. I strongly advise staying away from this shop. They took my money, gave me attitude, and left me with a bigger problem than I started with. read more

Gary Singh, you scum. He charged my mother 1,850 for services he never even did ! He kept my car for almost 2-3 days and told my mother there was so many things needed to be done, when I got the car back I noticed nothing changed. Only when I had called 1 week later and addressed everything, he asked if I still had the receipt. I told him I was calling on behalf of my mother. He eventually called her back and told her that he is refunding her 1,200 because he didn't fix the issues. You are a scum for even doing that. Guess what I took my car to the district manager of Jiffy lube and he fixed the issue for $125. You should be ashamed of yourself doing something like this! I had a smog test and a oil change due and a coupon arrived at my doorstep which started to consider this facility as an option . I called the facility which was 3 miles away from my house and asked if they had any appointments and if there was a drop off . I was told that there is indeed a drop off and no appointment was required. When I headed to the facility I realized that they were neither ready to honor The coupon price nor was the drop off honored . He said 3 miles is far away, the drop off is probably for walkable distances within a mile . Since I had an upcoming trip I got my service here as I did not want to waste more time searching for a service center) most of which required an appointment. Lost an hour and a half waiting. beware he is lying on the paper work he gave me he said he advised me to drive the car as a machanic he knows he is to put 50 miles to test the car to make sure codes do not come up before giving back to it he would not give me any paper work on parts ordered nor how much they where i asked to see the invoice they get he siad i do not get that. he told me i had to drive it paper work he gave me had the miles when i took it in the first time and when i took it back the second time he did not drive the care after he supposdly did work on my car people always ask for a detalied receipt on what was done what was bought yes of course i stoped payment my car is not fixed i only drive my kid to school its 1 mile each day then on a long drive it did not drive smoothly and light came back on you must be crazy at sucsefull test results i have the paperwork and the paper work from the other shop that over looked at everything and placed that everything should have been fix you did work on car that did not need to be done at all you really delusional looking at all you 1 stars you have for doing this to so many people its sad you get 3-5 stars when its small jobs read more

If no technician is available for a stupid SMOG check , your business hours should also say so. It should say the following M-Th : technician leaves early or whenever he wants so customer should call ahead Fri-Sat: technician leaves even earlier so don't even bother. Went both days back to back. I thought shop hrs were till 6pm but I think the technician leaves whenever he wants and makes his own hours LOL what a joke. And ~ $60 -$70 y'all got jokes read more

I had to take my car in for scheduled maintenance and I had a coupon for this place. It's pretty close to my house, so I thought why not? When I got there, they told me they were super busy and it would take til late afternoon ( I got there like 10am). I didn't have anything else to do in the area and didn't really want to stick around, so they were nice enough to give me a ride home! I called the next morning and not only was the car ready to go, but I got a ride back too! It cost a bit more than I expected since they used synthetic oil, but not a big deal. It still cost WAY less that other places quoted me. Besides, AAA suggests this place for car repair, that's something other reviewers seem to forget. Anyhow, thanks Gary and Bay Star Auto. read more

My mom took her car in last week for a smog. She didn't pass because the 02 sensor wasn't ready. So she paid the $50 that he charged for just putting the car on the smog machine. She was told to drive the car more to reset the 02 sensors. A week later she brings the car back for the guy to re smog. It passed, but he charged her again for putting the car on the machine. This is the first time I've ever seen this happen. Majority of smog places I've been to was no pass no pay, not this place. So just be careful when you take it to this place. He will charge you just to put the car on the smog machine, pass or fail! If it fails and you bring it back to him, he'll charge again. So just a heads up. It's not a you don't pass you don't pay type place like pretty much everywhere else I've been to. read more

Quite unfortunate since I called ahead of time and answered all their questions ahead of time regarding information of the car. If you modifications on your don't take it here. Went if for a tune up, ended up costing more than the coupon stated along with some needed additional work done. I approved and the work was completed. Once i Left the issue came back again, but rest assured they did "warn" me that it may come back, but don't worry the car is ready for pick up... I thought after all these years this place was trustworthy... We have multiple family members and multiple cars that have been coming here for years.. I have now switched all 6 of family/vehicles (between multiple family members) to a new shop. I am having to pay double what should have been completed properly the first time. Good and quick service. Their location is kinda hidden and no much parking around. We got our Pilot smogged here and it only took 15 minutes! Might I add, it was lunch and the owner did the work as his staff was out. They have a lot of awards inside and been in business for 18 years...so not bad! Just be aware, the price for SUV smog is kinda expensive as the coupons they offer won't even work so we ended up paying full price of $50. Bait & Switch! Mr. Singh cares little for honesty. Told me to come early so I could be the first on in the shop and then told me I would have to wait. 4 hours! Quoted me one price on phone and then when I showed, he didn't care and wanted me to do $300 worth of diagnostic test even though I had already done them elsewhere and had a copy of the assessment. The prices for hourly work, diagnostics are double other auto shops. He's also mean and raised his voice. Watch out! I would definitely not recommend this place. read more

I bought a car from the auction and it immediately died on the highway. Tow truck driver and I determined it needed a new fuel pump. After doing some research on my phone for a few minutes I had an idea of what it would cost to have a mechanic do the job. I called 4 places in the area and bay star auto quoted me the most reasonable price compared to other shops in the area. They were also very nice on the phone, were able to accommodate me by waiting to close so the tow truck would arrive and the job was done in reasonable time. I will not be returning to this establishment. On Saturday morning, I discovered that someone had slashed the driver's side tires of my (incredibly inoffensive) 07 Corolla. I called AAA, had them tow it to the closest AAA facility that was open on Saturday to have the tires replaced. Gary the Owner said that the car could be done by 2pm, which was awesome... except that I had places to be at 2pm in Mountain View. No problem - this is only a slight crimp in my plans for the weekend. Can we pick it up first thing Monday morning? First thing Monday morning (this morning, in fact!) rolls around, and I don't see my car in the parking lot. I do, however, see it still in the shop, and no one having done a bloody thing yet. They ask me which tires ned to be replaced twice, and then dick around for awhile. I wait for an hour while they change the tires. They issue an apology for the wait that sounds a bit as if it's been dragged out of them, and I'm 1.5 hours late for work... which would only have been half an hour had I simply been able to pick up my car, fork over payment, and run. read more

Wow, I just read the first review for this place. Sad to say that I can't disagree with the service here. It's definitely spotty. I decided on this spot since I got a coupon online and well it was close to home and the library. I figure I could do some errands while I was waiting for my car. I arrived here on a Saturday morning at 10am, probably not the best time since it was so busy. Well I go into the main office, no one was there to greet me or help me out. I felt a little dumb just standing at the counter. There wasn't any kind of buzzer to let someone know I needed help, nada. Finally someone came in to help me. They told me, it will take 1 hour instead of the 30 minutes it usually would take. I said that's fine, I'll come back after an hour. So I fill out all the paper work, they made sure I had cash on me (the coupon said cash only for the certification and smog check for $40 total). So I walked my booty over to the library (took me 20-ish minutes and I was going pretty fast) and walked back and it was about exactly an hour when I came back. I see my car and it has yet to be smog checked. I sat down in one of the 4 plastic chairs and after another 15 or so minutes, they finally told me, it's done. I paid and I moved my car out of the garage area. They did say sorry for the wait so that's where the added star comes in. Overall, since it's just convenient for me to come here, it was ok. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE My dad went here to get his brakes fixed. He dropped off his car on a Friday afternoon and picked it up Saturday. They told him that he needed to replace everything, including the brake drum. Initially, the brake pedal was shaking when he applied the brakes. So he paid ~$450 CASH to get it fixed. The guy said that before they give back the cars, they TEST it to make sure everything has been taken care of. Well, THREE days later, his car is still making the same shaking when he applies his brakes. What does that mean? a MISDIAGNOSIS!!! He paid $450 for something that wasn't even a problem! How outrageous! So my dad goes back there after work (4:30ish) to try and talk to him, and the guy wants my dad to leave his car there for 2 hours! That's something he couldn't do, so they got into an argument about when he could leave his car. Bottom line, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED WHEN HE LEFT IT THERE THE FIRST TIME. For anyone looking to get any mechanic work done, DO NOT GO HERE. These guys are a joke and shouldn't even be in business. I wish i can give negative stars to them. read more

Terrible customer service. I called just to ask questions twice. First time it was a guy. I asked about a coupon I had and wanted to know what the cost. He sound rude and just told me the price and didn't want to explain what it comes with. Then I call I another day hoping to be someone else. So I can ask questions comfortably. But it was the same rudeness I got. Rather spend my money somewhere else. And for a coupon for this price 49.95 is not worth it. It's just for labor without freon. Just to check for leaks. Gary was able to get me in my car the very next day. I came in Monday at 4 PM or two flat tires. I called around no one was able to get 2 28" run flat tires for my BMW 750i until end of week.
